As I stepped onto the rooftop, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking views of the Old Port & the Notre-Dame Basilica. The ambiance was vibrant yet relaxed, making it the perfect setting for a memorable day.
The service was exceptional; the staff was attentive & friendly, ensuring that every need was met. I started with the ceviche, which was fresh & bursting with flavor, perfectly complemented by a refreshing cocktail. The menu offered a delightful variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, & I was particularly impressed by the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection.
Didn't go for food but got drinks. Aperol spritz was amazing one of the best I've had. Really cool being on the rooftop to the hotel too. McAllister loved it

We really enjoyed the rooftop experience - the view of the city along with the canal & ships is truly unique & worth it.
The food was definitely the highlight: very tasty & left nothing to be desired.
As for the service, it didn't quite match the quality of the place. It felt like it could use more attention. Maybe it's just part of the local culture, but it's something that could improve the overall experience.
Fantastic rooftop views & food worth coming back for. Expertly shucked oysters, & exceptional cocktails. We came early, so the service was awesome. Our server was relatively new but very attentive & knowledgeable. I'd recommend getting there earlier to nab a table by the water view!
Nelligan Terrace is a top spot if you're looking for lively energy, stylish crowds, & stunning rooftop views. The atmosphere here is what really makes it: a retractable awning offers comfort whether you're enjoying the sun or hiding from a surprise rain shower, & the music is always popping, setting a vibrant tone without overwhelming conversation. It draws a young, attractive crowd, making it feel like a social scene worth checking out.
The food, however, is a mixed bag. The ceviche is definitely not what you'd expect if you're used to the bright, citrus-forward flavors of Mexican-style ceviche-it leans in a more neutral, subtle direction that might not satisfy traditional ceviche fans. The oysters are on the smaller side, but they pack solid flavor for their size. Skip the hummus-bland & forgettable. The chicken katsu sandwich is more of a classic fried chicken sandwich than a true katsu, but it's still tasty. The French fries are well-executed, crispy & seasoned just right, & the roasted butternut squash is a surprisingly solid choice if you're looking for a comforting side.
Drinks are another strong point here-well-balanced & thoughtfully made, perfect for enjoying while taking in the rooftop ambiance.
Overall, Nelligan Terrace is more about the experience & the setting than it is a foodie destination. That said, a few menu hits & good drinks keep it worth the visit. Just be sure to make a reservation-the place fills up quickly, & it's not one you'll want to miss.
Audrey is an excellent waitress, the ambiance is beautiful & the views are immaculate. Somehow the food & drinks were still the highlight of the evening! I highly recommend spending the evening at the rooftop bar! They accommodated our large party perfectly.

Ambiance is great.. a rooftop terrace is always a treat. Food & drinks were on point... would love to come back. I suspect it might be a very busy spot on weekends & evenings. We came for a quick lunch. Lobster rolls were 👌🏾
This place used to be my go-to terrace during hot summer days around the old port.
The rooftop ambiance is great, & it's located in the heart of the old port Montréal. However, lately, it feels like the prices went up while the quality of the food significantly decreased. We spent 80$ for ordered a plate of shrimp bao & 2 cocktails, & it was really disappointing. Knowing it's more of a rooftop/bar, my expectations were not high, but to be honest, I don't know how they can serve a dish this mediocre to that price. The bread was nothing like a real bao, & it had one shrimp in each.
Drinks are a bit pricy, but they are somewhat justifiable, given the location & the rooftop ambiance. Good for drinks & maybe a nice stop by during a date night, but I would stay away from the food.
The rooftop bar had a pleasant atmosphere, & our waitress was friendly & welcoming. However, the experience was marred by a significant bee problem-one bee even died in one of our cocktails, & another got trapped in a different drink. When the manager noticed an issue, he initially approached the table next to us rather than directly addressing ours, despite the visible problem we were experiencing. When he eventually inquired if everything was okay, we raised our concerns about the bee situation. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any meaningful assistance, he responded in a condescending tone, as though it wasn't his fault & he couldn't do anything to improve the situation. The manager's lack of engagement was disappointing; he appeared more attentive to other tables, particularly those with white patrons, while showing no initiative to resolve the issue at our table. When we politely requested to switch tables to an area with fewer bees, he dismissed the idea, insisting that the bees would still follow us, which was clearly inaccurate based on other areas in the bar. His attitude was not only arrogant & downright negligent but also displayed a concerning lack of understanding about the potential health risks associated with bee stings, especially for patrons who may have severe allergies. His dismissive & indifferent approach toward our experience reflected poorly on the establishment's overall service.

Owner: I didn't see any reply to bad reviews, why? Drink here, eat elsewhere! One of Montreal's nicest rooftop terrace! Went there around 7-8 times & tried many dishes. The good: the design was really well thought of, ergonomically, choice of colors, etc. -1 point for the bar lighting in the evening, TOO BRIGHT! It totally kills the ambiance. Was just perfect before they turn it up full blast. Maybe it's for barman/maid to see better when they make cocktails? Confirmed by a lighting specialist designer friend that was accompanying us. Good to know: some guests can be pretty loud in a place like this later in the evening. Service: Sometimes too overly enthusiastic & sometimes really slow. I'd say average service. Food: this is were it loose the most points for me. The portion are too small & quality is clearly lacking. More than 1/2 the time the fries are cold. Katsu sando chiken was good last year. This year, it's pretty simple white bread & fried chicken. Pretty tastless. I have many examples, but ultimately, this is a place to have a drink before going to eat elsewhere! Montreal has far better food for the price. If you have to grab a bite while there, the ceviche is the best plate to my taste, although, again, the excution is inconsistent. Special mention to DJ Larry for the amazing mixes!
After months of passing by Terrace Nelligan, I noticed one thing: it's always busy on weekends. Whether the crowd is spilling over from the hotel or flocking specifically to the restaurant, one thing was certain-I had to take my wife there. After all this time, I decided to drop by spontaneously without a reservation, curious to see if the glowing reviews lived up to the hype. One thing that stands out about Terrace Nelligan is the staff. They are truly one of a kind. The team is incredibly observant, anticipating needs before they even cross your mind. It's a rare skill, & it made our experience all the more seamless. What really elevates the service, though, is their attitude-warm, welcoming, & genuinely positive. For us, this wasn't just another night out; it was a Tuesday that felt like a packed Friday, thanks to our servers, Marie & Ann-Christine, who made the evening unforgettable. We initially visited just to enjoy the views from the rooftop patio. Old Montreal has its share of recommended rooftop spots, but in my humble opinion, Terrace Nelligan is a hidden gem. Whether you're seated at the back with a view of La Grande Roue de Montréal or at the front facing the Notre-Dame Basilica, you're in for a rare treat, especially on a sunny late afternoon. We ordered the "Plateau de Fromages & Charcuteries" which was beautifully presented on a wooden board, showcasing an array of cheeses, cured meats, & accompaniments. The variety & quality of the ingredients were immediately apparent, making it an ideal starter to share. Cheeses: The selection of cheeses included both local & imported varieties, each offering a distinct flavor profile. From creamy brie to sharp cheddar, the cheeses were perfectly paired with dried fruits & nuts, adding a delightful contrast to the richness. Charcuterie: The cured meats were equally impressive, with thinly sliced prosciutto, salami, & other artisanal cuts. The meats were tender & flavorful, highlighting the skillful curing process. The inclusion of pickles & olives provided a refreshing tang that balanced the savory elements. Accompaniments: The board also featured a selection of artisanal breads & mini-pickle, which complemented the cheeses & meats nicely. The fig jam added a touch of sweetness, while the grainy mustard offered a bit of heat, making each bite a well-rounded experience. Pairing: We paired the Plateau with a bottle of 2021 Gemtree Dragon's Blood Red Wine. The wine's bold & fruity notes enhanced the flavors of the charcuterie & cheeses, creating a harmonious balance that elevated the overall dining experience. Overall Experience: The "Plateau de Fromages & Charcuteries" at Terrace Nelligan is a must-try for anyone looking to indulge in a sophisticated & flavorful appetizer. The combination of high-quality ingredients, attentive service, & stunning views makes it a standout dish. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Montreal, this platter is sure to impress & leave a lasting impression.
I find myself coming back here on repeat & staying longer than I should. The views are to die for & service is 10/10! The DJ on site sets the perfect mood. They have a very kind manager that goes around trying to ensure everyone is comfortable(really nice guy). The most recent time We had a very patient & accommodating waiter Vashti, he was very attentive to our needs. They have the best Lobster roll in my opinion, it keeps me coming back. The beef tarter wasn't to my liking though, won't order it next time. Oh & don't forget to save space for the dessert, it was divine! Overall, it's one of my favourite rooftops in Montreal.
