Rather small portions. Pineapple chicken very good. Duck also very good. Sweet & sour pork made with bad pieces full of cartilage.

I am sad to see so many negative reviews. This has been our go-to place for Christmas Eve dinner for many years & occasionally we order from them outside that for birthdays or other special events. The food has always been very good. Eggrolls, soup, we always switch up the pineapple chicken for chicken soo guy (delish!) & a new favourite, the crispy pork & black mushrooms. Very tasty & great texture if you like mushrooms! I have never eaten in there but will be doing so with friends soon.

Used to be decent, has gone way downhill. Eggrolls much smaller & not as tasty as before, chicken dish had barely any chicken, only batter, other dishes were tasteless & overcooked.

My mother is 90 wanted to go down memory lane so we got some take out today. I was hesitant from some of the reviews that I had read ,but decided to give them a chance
Chicken chow mein was nice, garlic spareribs nice, pineapple chicken was a nice surprise as most restaurants put a tiny piece of chicken & then a ton of batter like a golf ball. This was prepared really nice in the sauce & pineapple. Egg rolls nice. General Tao chicken was also tasty but not in the black bean sause. Must be some interpretation of the dish but still tasted really good chicken fried rice was good, not much chicken though. Only down side & it seems to be a common theme with many restaurants, portions a lot smaller than they used to be. If you take the dinner for 2 etc, remember they charge extra for the soup. Hot & sour soup was tasty.
I would go back & I would recommend this restaurant. I used to go there all the time in the 80s & they keep the place clean. Staff is courteous. Last thought : for everyone that had some issue with the staff other order, it's really not nice to make stories about horrible service or getting sick from food. This restaurant has been around for decades & taking swipes at the staff & chef is immature.

We were 2 sharing a combo meal of Wonton soup, spring rolls, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, deep fried breaded chicken strips. We enjoyed the meal very much & were impressed with the very good service.

Ordered from here via DoorDash & honestly this food made me sad. I hate to leave such a bad review but the sesame beef was dessert it was so sweet, the chicken chow mein was inedible & was missing noodles & I feel like I got totally ripped off. Never again.

I've been going for years (50+) This is where we'd go for my birthday. Egg rolls are still excellent. All the food was perfect. Although they dropped the almonds from the chicken & vegetables.

The BEST Chinese in MTL. Best chop suey wonton soup! The general tao & pineapple chicken are crazy good!

Ordered for the first time here last night. While the quality of the food is good, the prices simply cannot be justified. $150 for 3 people. There were 7 pieces of general tao...7. The beef & chicken dishes were cold & had to be microwaved. Meals don't come with soup included like many other places. Will not be ordering from here again & I honestly cannot say I would recommend it to others based solely on the price they charge for small portions.

Was a bit disappointed with the food, waited to try this place out. Came here with some friends, we ordered 4 dishes to share amongst us. We were not impressed by the food, ginger chicken tasted a bit bland. Thought we’d get more out of this place.

I had long heard about the supposed resurrection of the iconic Yangtze restaurant, I greatly looked forward to a takeout meal here.

To be clear, this was a takeout. I found the restaurant clean & quiet. The takeout order went without a hitch.

Some have said the the portions were tiny for the price, I could not agree more. At $34 plus tax for a takeout for two ( the website said $32 ), I found it very expensive.

They give you 3 egg rolls per person, presumably because the takeout does not include the won-ton soup. I found the egg rolls to be the best part of the meal, the skins were flawlessly fried to a golden brown, & the filling was tasty & had good texture. My wife thought the egg rolls lacked on the pork inside the filling, but I thought overall the taste made up for this.

The chow mein was ordinary, & a bit too watery. The rice was ok, but way too small. The pineapple chicken was a nice red color & decent, but I counted about 8 small pieces of breaded chicken, WAY too small for a supposed meal for two. The dry garlic ribs were closer to a portion of 2, but they were ordinary. The rib pieces were small & a bit fattier than I would like, & the dry garlic sauce was too watery.

In short, the quality was ordinary & at close to $40 with tax & tip, the portions were hugely disappointing. At $40 for takeout for 2, Montrealers have many more better options fortunately.

I will try their sit-down menu one more time, but I do not recommend the takeout for quality/value.

First time eating from this place (we did delivery) - Quite disappointed.

Average main course = $15...that's about 30% to 40% higher than most chinese places in the area. For 3 people we ordered 5 dishes, we only had a little left so we didn't over order. Price including tax was $85....ouch! For Chinese delivery?

Portions: Smaller than what we get from other places. & there was very little meat (chicken & beef). For that money, I expect a lot more protein

Tip: this was the icing. The delivery guy was quite unpleasant & drops off 1 bag...we were surprised that $85 all fit into 1 relatively small bag. I gave him a standard delivery tip ($3 to $4)...same as I give to a pizza guy for which I pay $20. He hummed & hawed then said "normally it is 10%". WTF? Don't question my tip & delivery people don't get % of sales!!!!

We won't be returning.

Probably the best egg rolls & sweet & sour soup all around. The General Tao chicken was a bit bland, but was a generous portion & the chicken was truly succulent. My companion's shrimp with lobster sauce was more like a huge soup; the shrimp were excellent & the portion generous. Service was excellent! We will most definitely return.

Had the general tao chicken, not very good as it had an odd taste & not crispy. Tried the Singapore noodles & i was not at all impressed. Spent $60 & it was worth $5 (maybe). Not even worth the trip. I would choose thai express over this & i hate thai express.

This was our second time at this restaurant. The service was excellent & the food was as succulent as the first time. Imagine pineapple chicken with both pineapple & huge pieces of chicken. The Yangtze special rice was a real treat, dry garlic spareribs that were not dry, & delicious beef broccoli made up part of our meal. The peanut butter dumplings must be tried to be believed.

The name Yangtze has been an institution in Montreal for many years. I remember from a very young age going to eat there when they were located on Van Horne Avenue. Besides the prices not much has changed as far as Quality food & great service. The Egg rolls & won ton soup are still the best in the city. The only food change is the pineapple chicken. They use breaded chicken balls now instead of odd shaped pieces of chicken that's breaded. I think I prefer the old way.
The food was served hot & fresh & very prompt. I truly recommend Yangtze to anyone that loves traditional Chinese food.
