exquisite bakery/café super close to De l'Eglise metro station. met up with a friend for tea & tried the croissant fourée au pistache & it was simply divine. very friendly staff, excellent service & they even allowed my cat (who was in his carrier) to sit with us. 5-star establishment you MUST check out when in MontréalView more
Super cute bakery. The first time I bought three or four pastries because its one of those shops that make it hard of pick just one. Second time, tried both a savoury crossant & a sweet stuffed croissant. Their savoury ham & cheese is crunchy & delicious, their pistachio cream was unfortunately pretty but a little too sweet for me. The chairs were wonderful to enjoy with friends or with a book, the decor is classy & inviting & very beige.View more
They have a great variety of pastries & sandwiches which are always a hit. I am also a big fan of their quiches, although they are quite pricey. The service really depends on the day, but it is mostly good. However, I used to really love this place, but as one of the previous comments mentioned, since the renovation the bakery no longer feels rustic & their prices have gone up significantly, even though it was not cheap before already. I used to go at least once a week, but since the renovation, I've only gone twice.View more
Oh man, did Sweet Lee's change owners? The old decor was really unique & rustic, but now it looks like they've completely gutted it out & replaced it with a very "vanilla" decor. I'm going to miss the old bakery; it used to have so much character. Now it looks more like a generic cafe. I still enjoyed their croissants & coffee nonetheless, but it looks like their selection shrunk too. It's unfortunate.View more
I hate to write this review because the old Sweet Lee's was amazing in every aspect & totally deserved 5 stars, it was one of my go-to places, but after the new renovations this place just looks sad & just like every other cafe. I was shocked that the food quality dropped a noticeable amount. The new layout also seems crammed & not very well thought out, it's a shame to see the rustic vibe completely washed out. Also worse food & bakery selection....although the service was decent but that doesn't make up for the other issues. Sady I will no longer recommend this place, but I might give it one more chance.View more
As of March 2024, absolutely heartbroken about what has happened to this place. For as long as they had been in Verdun, Sweet Lees was my go-to place in a neighborhood with tons of option for both coffee & baked goods. They were simply the best. I was crushed to find out when dropping by yesterday that it suddenly looked like a completely different business, now almost all seating & with the food counter a tiny fraction of the size it used to be, with their inventory naturally cut down just as drastically. Despite how upset I was about it, I still tried to give them a chance & check whether the quality of the food & drinks were still the same. Unfortunately, again, instead of being reassured I had to face the reality that I would have to completely grieve what Sweet Lees used to be. Matcha latté ordered to drink on the spot arrived at a tepid temperature already too barely over room temperature to be enjoyable to drink, let alone sit down & enjoy at a leisure pace. Considering how much they sacrificed to get more seating space, it's strange how this gave the message that they wanted me to hurry up drinking & just get out of there. Also ordered a little cup of maple syrup trifle. Custard was incredibly stodgy, which is sort of an issue when it is the main component of the dessert. I never though there would be a day I would leave a negative review about this place. To be fair, I also never thought that Sweet Lees would one day be run by people who'd decide they'd rather be a middling coffee shop with fancy furniture than a fantastic rustic bakery. If anyone needs me, I'll be busy mourning for a while.View more
Service is still kind, but the atmosphere changed completely. It feels taller but smaller at the same time, not rustic bakery anymore.View more
😉View more
This Bakery could be the reason why I would move in Verdun!View more
This bakery is the absolute best in Verdun, hands down!View more
This bakery offers later hours than most, probably the best in Verdun. Multiple ordering counters, indicating that they can get busy during peak hours. I tried a few goods & was pleased by the artisan quality. The fondants were a great find as this is not a typical bakery offering, it was so rich. The service was good too, the girls that attended to me did not mind helping with my horrible French. I am curious to try their lunch items now.View more
