Everything seemed to be of a « reheat process. » It did not meet expectation at $45 per person plus taxes +service tip . Maybe springtime is more appropriate for the kitchen staff to prepare the various dishes in larger quantities, in line with the demand.
We had such a good time here
The grounds are beautiful surrounded by great walking trails
The service was very attentive & fast & the owner came to see us to ask if all was going well & to our satisfaction
Very satisfied with this sugar shack
The food was delicious great options & the bread was the best
Honestly, disappointed. It seems as though at'peak' time/the heart of winter this must be the place to go. We booked our sugar shack experience back in March for today, which explicitly stated the taffy/maple experience is available through April. We flew in yesterday & took an hour uber over from Montreal, only to show up & have them tell us the taffy/maple experience stopped 2 weeks ago but we could have the meal still if we wanted. It's hard to decide for sure who's'fault' this is, but communication from the business would have been appreciated as we ended up wasting over 2 hours & around $200 ubering to/from Montreal for this experience. We had to call & confirm that the experience was even'open' prior to leaving as no communication or confirmation was received from the business.
I went to the sugar shack with my meetup group, & it was an unforgettable day! We rode a horse-drawn carriage through the woods to a cozy dining hall. There, we saw how maple syrup is traditionally extracted, which was super interesting. The food was absolutely delicious-fresh soup, strong coffee, hearty mains, & mouthwatering desserts. After eating, we took a short scenic walk on a nearby trail, soaking in the peaceful vibe. I even picked up a few cute fridge magnets as souvenirs. Best of all, I made new friends & shared laughs along the way. It was a wholesome & amazing experience!
I just went for sugar shack, & it was an amazing experience. It is one of the best sugar shacks in the Montreal surrounding area. The food was excellent, the atmosphere amazing & the music was fun! I recommend for anyone looking for a great sugar shack experience 😊
We have been here for the typical cabane à sucre experience a few times now & it's always wonderful. The food is delicious, everyone working there seems genuinely happy to be there & service is good. Very family friendly. If you need a walk after eating your favourite sugar shack treats, there are kilometers of trails for walking & cross country skiing that you can enjoy. The founder of the cabane à sucre is also there, regularly greeting people. The scenery is beautiful & there is a horse & carriage to bring you to & from the parking lot to the sugar shack.
Visited in September outside sugar shack operation times so can't comment on that part, however the bar, restaurant & store were all open. The grounds are interesting & there are many trails to walk
Authentic sugar shack (cabane à sucre) with great people, tasty food, folk music, & nice place to visit. It is my second time there! The food & maple syrup are amazing! I suggest to go early morning since it is less crowded. One of my favorite sugar shack! Feels like the ones I was going when I was a kid. It is worth the distance from Montreal since most around Montreal are too commercial.
It is a beautiful place with lots of history to go to Sugar Shack with the family. I always have a great time & walk away with a full belly
We enjoyed this unique experience very much! There was minimal to no snow so we had the maple taffy over ice, which was delicious! Ice cubes mixed into the taffy was actually super refreshing after the meal inside! I will say the meal was a lot of food, but it's the way of the sugar shacks I guess! The people were so kind & friendly & it was so pretty walking through the maple bush seeing all the buckets filling up. Don't miss going into the bakery & talking to the taffy maker to see where the magic happens :)
Good service, food is alright & it's a nice sugar shack. But there's nothing that can justify this being a 70$ meal.
We had a great time at this Sugar Shack! We were a big group & they were very accommodating. The little tour of the maple room was really fun. I think it was Simon, was awesome! The in house entertainment was incredible! If you go in with the mindset this is food they would have eaten back in the day- & serve it in the traditional cabin/family style way- then you will be impressed !! We loved it. Definitely a great experience.
I'm not sure where the negative reviews came from, it's my second time eating at this sugar shack & the food is excellent. There was a bit of a delay in getting served, but Vincent (I believe the owner/manager) saw to it that we were taken care of properly as soon as the delay was flagged. 10/10 would recommend & will go again!
Really cool Sugar Shack. Awesome atmosphere & entertainment. The place was packed & service a bit spotty but a really minor issue. Definitely going back next year.
During our recent visit to Sucrerie de la Montagne, we were transported into the heart of an authentic sugar shack experience that beautifully embraced simplicity, embodying the rustic charm that defines this hidden gem. Despite being outside the typical sugar shack season, the welcoming doors of Sucrerie de la Montagne opened to our family visiting from Hungary, providing an indelible & quintessentially authentic experience. From the moment we set foot on the quaint property, the air carried the enticing scent of wood smoke, promising culinary delights. The ambiance, akin to a storybook setting, preserved & celebrated traditions with unwavering passion. The food, though unpretentious, unfolded a tapestry of flavors that traversed the annals of Quebecois cuisine, leaving us with a newfound appreciation for culinary artistry in every bite. The recommended local wine blend, Wapiti, tailored for the family patriarch, seamlessly complemented the savory dishes, adding a layer of sophistication to the already extraordinary dining experience. What truly set Sucrerie de la Montagne apart was not just the delightful fare or the wine but the palpable sense of heartwarming hospitality that permeated the air. Murielle & Valerie, the gracious custodians, elevated our experience with genuine warmth & meticulous attention to detail, transforming a meal into a cherished memory. Murielle & Valerie seamlessly blended attentive service with a passion for sharing the essence of Sucrerie de la Montagne. Their anecdotes about the sugar shack's history, coupled with infectious enthusiasm, created an atmosphere where guests felt like treasured friends. In the heart of Sucrerie de la Montagne, we discovered more than a dining destination - a sanctuary of authenticity & tradition. The experience transcended time & space, shaping memories that will forever linger in our hearts. Departing, we held profound gratitude for discovering a place where heartfelt service converges in perfect harmony. Sucrerie de la Montagne is undeniably a jewel, deserving accolades for its unwavering commitment to preserving the spirit of Quebecois heritage.
Sucrerie de la Montagne is by far the most amazing sugar shack nestled within the community of Rigaud, Quebec & I was fortunate to spend time there with an awesome friend in mid October. The food, ambience, l4 separate log cabins, huge dining areas as well as outside seating are simply picturesque. They have a small store where maple syrup & other items pertaining to French cuisine & culture are sold & the staff are incredible. Pierre, owner, Veronique & Stefan, also co-owners, as well as Veronique & Julia at the bar made me feel so welcome & very graciously treated myself & mon amie, Jo-Anne, who also is employed there, to lunch, & amazing drinks, i.e. a flavorful red wine produced & sold in the Rigaud area. Sincere gratitude to you all for an incredible dining & tguided tour of your gorgeous property. Fond regards & hope to see you again next summer when I am in Montreal.
