Steak Frites offers quality prepared dishes: distinctive cuts of meat that are tender and juicy, enhanced through our know-how to reveal all of their flavour. In an unpretentious atmosphere, we provide a generous gourmet menu for you to enjoy alone, as a couple, or with family and friends.
Steak Frites St-Paul emerges as a popular spot where the bring your own wine option adds value and the focus on well prepared steaks and generous fries stays consistent across visits. Reviewers praise friendly, attentive service and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere, with several notes about reliable doneness, tasty sauces, and well executed sides like mushrooms and green beans. The menu features classics such as Chateaubriand for two and a range of beef cuts, and many guests highlight the value, especially when BYOB helps keep the bill approachable. While a few visits mention small drawbacks such as noise or occasional inconsistencies in steak doneness, most experiences describe a satisfying dinner with solid timing and a welcoming vibe that makes it a go-to choice for steak lovers.
The food was great, they had several options that are gluten free :) Very aware of celiac & they have a dedicated fryer for fries! The only hiccup is that chairs are not thiccc bottom friendly (livable but not comfortable)
We reserved our seats for 3 for dinner on a Saturday & were impressed with the swiftness we were looked after. We were reminded that it was a BYOB, which was a very nice touch. I got a msg on my phone, seconds after that our table was reserved.
While we brought our own bottle, the waitress opened our bottle & we poured our own wine from start to finish.
Atmosphere was casual, somewhat loud but not unpleasant.
Service was fast with our waitress being OK. Just the very bare minimum.
Appetizers were snail with garlic/cheese & a deep fried goat cheese were excellent.
New York streak & bavette de boeuf served medium rare were tender but a tad too cooked.
Overall, a good restaurant to go to from time to time, with BYOB.
The Steak Frites cut of meat is terrible. I can buy a better cut & not as thick from Walmart. Meat was undercooked on the inside & burnt tasting on the outside.
We had such a delightful meal. One of the best steak frites & couldn't get enough of the sauces. My 10 year old daughter devoured her steak. Great service & great atmosphere. Don't forget to BYOB.
French onion soup is great. Caesar salad is basic. The OG steak frites were as described: not the most tender cut, but very beefy. For $38 it was fine. Like other reviewers note, we were surprised there is no alcohol available unless you bring your own. My bad, not theirs. Service was fast, attentive & professional. No language barriers as everyone we spoke to was bilingual & friendly.
nice food, the steak & fries were excellent. the place is ok could be nicer & the chair were not comfortable. we had to ask each time for a refill of fries since they are unlimited never been asked..

Toujours une bonne place pour un bon steak, la cuisson de mon contre-filet était légèrement dépassée pour un médium mais, les frites, les haricots & la sauce su poivre étaient délicieux, nous étions un gros groupe & avons eu un très bon service
Dissapointed with my visit. We were a group & went for lunch. The food was good. Service was uneven (forgot my fries, mixed plates). Bread wasn't brought in, had to ask for it. The lunch menu wasn't given to us… had to ask. The guy at front had it in photocopy & was hesitant to give. They gave us all the regular menu, making it feel they wanted us to order the supper menu to get more $$.
Building/restaurant is kind of tired. Food overpriced. I have an allergy to dairy, but they would not make a special sauce as all are pre-made. Ambivalent service. Don't forget to get your own wine, as there is no liquor license.

Chateaubriand délicieux au goût, mais légèrement trop cuit. On avait demandé saignant, mais malheureusement un des 2 morceaux était médium saignant, voire bien cuit sur les côtés.
We had been there in the past. We found to quality of the steak to be improved over years past. We like the cauliflower bite appetizers, the new york strip & fries were delicious. All steaks were cooked to the correct degree of doneness. Its really nice to be able to bring our own bottle of wine to the meal as well.
