These are thinner, more crispy, & have a slight hint of sweet/honey that compliments the tart cream cheese really well.View more
The bagels absolutely lived up to the hype.
The difference between U.S. water bagels & Montreal's is more than just shape-they're slightly sweet, flatter, & thinner, & here, they turn them into full-on sandwiches. I came here early in the morning with my girlfriend & was thrilled that this spot met expectations. I started with a simple bagel & cream cheese, & man, was it good. I ended up walking back in to order a dozen to take home, as well as a roadie for the walk back to the metro.
The staff was friendly & spoke English, French, & Spanish. Just one heads-up: they don't take American credit cards, so bring cash (CAD or USD) when you go.View more
Great little bagel shop. Close to the train station so easy to get in the mornings. I had their Salmon & Cream Cheese. Delicious!View more
Ever since this place was featured on the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil, I've been wanting to visit-& the hype definitely doesn't disappoint. They have a variety of bagel sandwiches, both veg & non-veg, & my favourite has to be the fig & cream cheese one. It's on the sweeter side but pairs perfectly with an Americano.
This is a cash-only or debit location, so plan accordingly. The ambience is your classic cozy café vibe, & the patio is the best part.
If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of how the bagels are freshly made on-site. I genuinely enjoyed watching the entire process. The staff is super friendly & adds to the charm of the place.View more
I got there early enough on a Sunday morning the the line wasn't too long - I only waited a few minutes before I was able to go inside. There is a person who comes out to greet everyone & coordinate where to sit if doing dine-in. I dined in but didn't get anything fancy. I just got three bagels (everything, sesame & poppy) & a small tub of garlic & herb cream cheese. This was my first time trying a proper Montreal bagel & I gotta say they are pretty amazing. I tore a bit from each bagel & dipped it into the cream cheese. Good move. Probably the best move I made that morning. The bagels are crunchy light & creamy all at the same time. I'm from New Jersey so I'm used to bagels being chewier. These bagels are delicious & I will be back soon! Probably tomorrow!View more
Prepare for a long line, but the bagel is worth it. I had the traditional with salmon, my only criticism would be too much cream cheese, which I wish I had asked to add less. Everything else was great!View more
There is a line at the door, but it moves fast. The staff are friendly & direct everyone to keep the flow moving. The bagels are fresh & flavourful, just on their own. Can add to make a sandwich based on your preference. We tried the all-dressed with cream cheese, the traditional on sesame & the rosemary & salt. A stop to try if you're in Montreal & take some to go as well !View more
During our trip to Montréal, we stopped by St-Viateur Bagel & had an amazing experience! These weren't the typical oversized bagels you find elsewhere - they were the perfect size, just right for a hearty but not overwhelming sandwich. Every bagel was incredibly fresh, soft, & packed with flavor. Each sandwich had its own personality, from the turkey & bacon to the grilled chicken with pesto, & even a veggie one with creamy cheese - all so tasty! We loved them so much that we ordered extras to take home for the kids to enjoy later. St-Viateur really lived up to its reputation - fresh, delicious, & a must-visit if you're in Montréal!View more
I ordered 2 bacon egg & cheese to go & they forgot the bacon & It was 51$ with a drink what the hell it's good bagels but the to go sandwich is not worth it it has become a tourist trap by raising there pricesView more
Best bagel ive ever had. Tried the salt & pepper breakfast bagel, but swapped bacon with smoked turkey & cheese.
They do not skimp out on the portions - two eggs, two slices of cheese, etc. This is a proper meal - justifying the price of almost 18$ taxes in.
Will 100% be coming back.View more
Really tasty bagel place, had ~20 minute queue when we arrived. It is cash only (shown on their menus), so make sure to have some cash on you. Staff were friendly & service was pretty quick. Bagels are a bit denser & smaller than an NYC bagel, & you can order them with cream cheese or as a sandwich. Definitely popular but would recommend a visit! Might try the other original location next time as this one seemed like it was populaView more
Must try their wow! Bagel sandwich & blueberry bagel with apple cinnamon cream cheese. They are really deliciousView more
Very very good bagel, we tried the Traditional (with Salmon & cream cheese), the WoW (with eggplant & sundried tomatoes) which was really wooww & the Plateau (with Turkey). Overall the bagel itself is a winner but I think it's a bit pricey. Consider a quick line sometimes if you wanna dine in.View more
THIS IS A CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT (Canadian OR US cash) They also take Canadian Debit cards (?) - there is some sort of debit card system but not for foreign cards. Secondly - if you want bagel sandwiches this is the only location that does it. The original St. Viateur bagel location on Rue St. Viateur DOES not do sandwiches. Overall, I thought the bagel was okay - we were told to ask to order whatever was the freshest bagel, for us that was the sesame. It was cool to see them hand rolling the bagels. The bagels are not warm for the sandwiches. I thought the traditional bagel sandwich (smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers) was alright - honestly felt like the bagel was missing flavoring (likely salt). The line outside wasn't too long, maybe took about 20 minutes to get inside & sit & eat. Not terrible. There are two lines outside, the one to the right (when facing the door) is for takeout bagels ONLY (no sandwiches) the one on the left is for sandwiches & sitting in the restaurant (can also do takeout, but you still need to stand on the line to the left). Last note, if you are HUNGRY these bagels are quite light. You can definitely eat more than one if you want to be full.View more
Best bagels in the world. Sesame bagel is our favorite as a family. Food: incredible - try the blt with hot smoked cream cheese vs mayo, original sandwich good as well, everything is great, super fresh Service: friendly Atmosphere: cute rustic bakery vibezView more
An institution in Montreal & a spot I have to visit each time or I will tweak. Great value for good quality bagels. Lines can get quite long so do your best to get there before the morning rush. Overall, a must visit. Take a dozen or two home with you. Freeze them for longevity or to use them as a flail, your call. Regardless, these are my go-to bagels. & their bagel sandwiches? Respect that schmear, they pile on that cream cheese, sensational.View more
If you are just getting a bagel & not the sandwich, you don't need to line up. The classic sesame bagel with cream cheese was great. The maple bagel was pretty mid. Worth grabbing a bagel from if you're in the area, not worth lining up 1 hour for a bagel sandwich.View more
So there's a lot of good things about this place. The service is really good, quick moving lines & very efficient. They do two different line ups for people purchasing sandwiches & those that are getting just a bag of bagels which manages time really well. We got the traditional bagels, all seasoned with smoked salmon & cream cheese & the "Joe Bagel" with ricotta & fig jam on a rosemary & sea salt bagel. The Joe Bagel was really different, the ricotta was light & creamy albeit a little messy to eat. The traditional was good too but lacked a flavour punch. It is also a pet peeve of mine when a bagel isn't cut down the centre & these weren't! Overall, I would say the vibes are definitely there. Is it worth waiting about 30 minutes in line for moderately good bagels? I would say it's subject to personal preference but if we are on the matter of amazing traditional bagels I would highly recommend Cafe Felice that uses St Viateur sesame bagels but have a ton more flavour.View more
We went out of our way to get these bagels on our last day in Montreal. We ordered 4 sandwiches for takeout. The breakfast sandwiches were supposed to substitute the meat for cream cheese. Both were missing this & just came with dry bagels instead & the fried eggs had no seasoning. The bagels overall were tough & chewy even though we ate them within half hour of purchasing them. Not worth the hype or the lineup outside.View more
Ricotta with fig was too sweet, everything bagel was charred. Not for me. My husband liked the lox & cream cheese bagel.View more
AMAZING bagels 💜🥯☕️ absolutely worth the wait! The line moves quickly & theres indoor & outdoor seating; you can also get takeaway & eat on the street thats closed to traffic in the summer. Id recommend the salmon spread instead of cream cheese, & be sure to take away a few bagels on your way out! No gf options but they do have vegan cream cheese & sandwich options.View more
If you're looking for a great Montreal bagel experience, this is the place to go. It is a little touristy, but the bagels were chewy & hot & served with plenty of cream cheese. This place only takes cash (American or Canadian) or Canadian debit cards though, so plan ahead if you're visiting from out of town.View more
Being from Texas, of course, this was at the top of my Montreal list. The "Traditional" did not disappoint. Fresh bagel with salmon & cream cheese. I seriously could have this almost every day.View more
Lovely atmosphere, tasty bagel! What more can you ask for? The texture of the bagels here, & generally in Montreal, is very different from what we have in Toronto, & I love it here. We ordered the traditional bagel with smoked salmon & cream cheese, as well as the all seeds bagel & rosemary & sea salt bagel. Update: We visited here again after our delightful first experience & tried out different bagel sandwiches this time. We also bought some bagels to take home. We ordered the Le Steak, Wow!, & Le Joe Bagel. All were very delicious, with the Le Steak being our favorite.View more
The service was fast, the food was great. We got the Traditional & Wow! I would recommend the traditional over the Wow. If you are lactose intolerance, beware as they give generous amount of cheese in their bagels.View more
We had bagel sandwiches at their outdoor tables. I get great bagels at home & these were different in that they are thinner & have larger holes, but they were very good quality with the appropriate bagel density (not bready). My wife & son both had smoked salmon with chive cream cheese & I had the smoked meat, a Canadian specialty. The staff were friendly & helpful & kept things from becoming chaotic.View more
Don't fuss about the long lines on the weekend, it moves very fast. The bagels are delicious! I had the traditional, which was amazing. The cream cheese is super creamy. The service is spectacular, they easily accommodated our family of six. We will be back!! Merci!!View more
Montréal style bagels aren't my preference to be honest I much prefer New York style, BUT I won't give anything but 5 stars for the service super quick welcoming friendly & watching the staff hard at working making these bagels made me appreciate them more ! The in house cream cheese is good but hear me out ... you cannot skip this local one it's unreal better than any brand I've tried beforeView more
Felt like the staff was more trying to get through their orders than actually putting some effort into their bagels. This huge chunk of onion was in my bagel not even the end of it being cut off where to root was attached. The cream cheese was only spread on one side which made it go everywhere from the amount they put in. Spread it on both sides in my opinion would easily resolve the huge mess that came with the bagel. Friendly staff! Everything was freshly made, you can see the bagels being made in front of you & put in their bagel oven so you know it's fresh. Huge line for an ok bagel. Also make sure you have Canadian cash or Canadian debit card only. They don't accept visas. 2023 surely with the amount of business this place is generating they can afford to pay for credit card service.View more
Best smoked salmon cream cheese bagel I've ever had. Please try with the rosemary bagel! I would come back to Montreal just for that bagel 🤤. I was pleasantly surprised to see sides with the bagels (pickles for the smoked meat & some melon slices for every bagel). The staff were kind. They also had merchandise for sale. I bought a T-shirt :)View more
