Reviews often mention

Make sure that, if you just want bagels, you get in the correct line. They have a line for folks who want bagel sandwiches that is separate & VERY long.View more
View more
*CASH ONLY* at St Viateur bagel
I was here on Saturday noon, & there was a long line reaching in front of BMO. This is the line for both dine it & take out. Then at the door they separate you into left or right; left for sandwiches & right for take out/buying bags. By the way I waited 45 minutes before I got to the cashier.
The cashier recommended traditional on sesame bagel $14. I searched previous reviews for anyone who's tried Courage Bagels in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, but no one seemed to have mentioned them. I absolutely LOVE Courage Bagels, so I was really excited to try Montreal-style bagels here. My hot take is the salmon lox at Courage tastes better than the traditional one at St Viateur. My reason is Courage Bagel uses a lot more seasoning, especially on the salmon. The salmon here is like barely salty, but it is very soft. The bagel itself is wonderful. (The line at Courage is atrocious.)
The other bagel I got to try is the smoked meat bagel on all-dressed bagel $14. This was one great with the mustard, but I added a bit of extra cream cheese from the salmon bagel, & it tasted even better! If I were to get it again, I would ask for cream cheese on this one.
Servers are nice & spoke English & French.

First time trying it out based on all the mentions I've seen on TikTok reviews & a friend who has already went & said it was amazing.....
It was absolutely amazing!
Yes you do have to wait outside for a bit to get in due to the high traffic here but the staff was super amazing & came out to help the line flow smoothly!
Indoor & outdoor seating!
Yes it was expensive for a bagel sandwich & orange juice but not more expensive then a'value meal' at the big yellow arches.
The bagel itself was delicious & well put together!
Well worth the money & time spent waiting in line! This will be an annual stop Everytime in Montreal now!View more
Between this & fairmont, we definitely preferred these. They were lighter & more flavorful. Customer service was also much better.View more

We first went to the bakery not realizing the Cafe was separate but was OK as we wanted to see the actual baking process. We ordered via doordash for pick up & faced a bit of a premium $ added cost. To us it is was worth it as when we arrived there was a large line out the door despite many open tables on the patio & indoors.
Walked up to the front of line & was escorted in to pick up the order. This was about 5 mins after our doordash order was placed. I was impressed with the expediousness. Asked if we could sit down & eat but staff said only for those waiting in line even though all tables were empty indoors. The decline didn't bother me as we enjoyed eating along the pedestrian street just outside the shop. I found it odd the line was so large despite the number of empty tables.
Some say this place is a tourist trap. The bagel sandwich was awesome. We paid 50 bucks for 2 bagel sandwiches with 2 coffees - keep in mind this included the fees for doordash & tip. Was it worth the price? I would say for the one time experience & quick turnaround yes but I wouldn't do it again.
We will however enjoy the bulk bagels we brought home!View more
Amazing bagel & cream cheese. Very different from the NY/NJ bagels I am used to. These are thinner, more crispy, & have a slight hint of sweet/honey that compliments the tart cream cheese really well.View more
This place is amazing because of the bagels they really are the best in the city hence the constant line up around the block. But due to the line up the ambiance definitely takes a bit of a hit. Though they never rushed us & we never felt crowded in the venue seeing the line outside the door just really made the place feel a little like I was in a crowded subway. So recommend the food but dont expect to have too much of a conversation with out feeling rushed or distracted. But REGARDLESS definitely worth a visit.View more
So worth the wait. Really lives up to the hype. & the merch is well priced! & the service was awesome!View more
Nothing is better than Montréal bagels & St Viateur is the best. I drive 2 hours to pick these up. Unfortunately this is only location that makes sandwiches, but it is worth it.View more
The bagels absolutely lived up to the hype.
The difference between U.S. water bagels & Montreal's is more than just shape-they're slightly sweet, flatter, & thinner, & here, they turn them into full-on sandwiches. I came here early in the morning with my girlfriend & was thrilled that this spot met expectations. I started with a simple bagel & cream cheese, & man, was it good. I ended up walking back in to order a dozen to take home, as well as a roadie for the walk back to the metro.
The staff was friendly & spoke English, French, & Spanish. Just one heads-up: they don't take American credit cards, so bring cash (CAD or USD) when you go.View more
The bagels here are incredible. We got the everything & the fresh Rosemary & Salt. The warm hot bagels were fantastic just by themselves.View more

Classic Montreal bagels didn't disappoint. Super tasty, fresh bagels made in house. Fast, friendly service. Price is a bit expensive but I think it's worth it. Their merch is cool.View more
