Food was fantastic. Just grabbed the Pete Special or combo, so smoked meat sandwich, fries, & fountain drink. Delicious. The ordering/seating process was a bit unusual, but basically you order at the counter & find a spot, & the wait staff will bring your food to you. It was busy when we were there, so if you go with someone else, one person order while the other secures a seat. Right off the highway too, so Montreal road trips in the future will likely have a stop on the way in or out each trip!
Delicious smoked meat sandwiches, had a live band playing which was alittle too loud for our taste, but other people were really enjoying themselves. The owner came out to give our kids a free ice cream, very nice touch

Had higher hopes for the smoked meat sandwich. Heard they have won awards around North America so expected good things. The sandwich was average in my opinion as the size was small for the price ($18.99 for sandwich & fries). I compared it to my local favorite & this scored it "okay". The fries were good but their gravy is to be desired as it had a sweet taste to it. They have a stage for live music which would score a higher atmosphere score during a set I would assume. This is just one man's review, give it a try yourself as it is quite a known place.
I really liked this cool spot! It's super cozy & has a great vibe with yummy food. My friend recommended their smoked meat, but honestly, there's a bunch of other tasty stuff on the menu too. We tried the smoked meat sandwich with awesome fries - so good! Even though the cashier goofed up the bill a bit, it's all good. They've got a bunch of sauces to choose from to take home, which is neat. The sandwich itself was delish, with lean meat & not too much fat. There's plenty of parking & I can't wait to check out the live music next time. Definitely recommend this spot!
Superb Montreal style smoked meat served up in many dishes. We tried it on the traditional deli sandwich, poutine, spaghetti, all compelling. The meals were freshly prepared, the meat peppery & juicy, even the odd pasta combo balanced the unusual pairing. Friendly & patient service, relaxed crowd vibe, pleasant roadhouse decor.
The sandwich plates will hit the spot! Get the medium - so juicy! Comes with coleslaw & kosher pickle, & oh! Those fries that Quebecers have perfected!! The service is quick & friendly. You will not be disappointed. The perfect meal on your way in or out of Montreal!
We've always made it a point to stop here on our way to Quebec - the atmosphere is lively with a biker bar-old fashioned feel. We have always enjoyed the smoked meat sandwiches but have found the poutine to be quite salty. On our most recent trip, we were surprised by the cost - it was $65 for one jumbo sandwich & one regular (no sides), a large poutine & 2 sodas. Definitely worth the visit but maybe just for the sandwiches!

Food was great & tasty. The flavor melts into your mouth, & they serve big portions. I ordered smoke meat sandwich & my family got the ribs & chicken, all of them are delicious. ❤️
Must do the line up to order, then go to your table & they will bring your food by saying your name.Food was excellent. My son & I shared a Special Pete, smoke meat sandwich with fries, coselaw & a Cott Cherry Coke. Music was a bit load(not live). I will go back for live Blues Band for sure. Asked for gravy but it was 5$ for a small cup so we decided to pass, I guess whatever little extra the kitchen must do is a big bother so they are trying to discourage you. They serve a little cup of ribs while in the line to order.
I love smoked meat & Pete's makes some of the best you can get! I haven't tried their other menu items, but have never been let down by the smoked meat sandwiches. I also enjoy the vibe & music they've made part of the experience. My one BIG complaint is the system they have for ordering & getting your food. For some reason, you have to wait in line to order at the counter, pay, & THEN hope you can find a table. That's a tall order as this place is often busy. This means you often have to stand in line for quite a while before ordering, instead of just comfortably sitting at a table & have someone come to take your order LIKE EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT ON EARTH! So you stand in line (why?) & after ordering & paying there is no guarantee that you'll even find a table to sit at. Then, with music blaring, the wait staff wanders around the restaurant holding your plates, yelling your name hoping you might hear & waive them down. I find this really takes away from the overall experience. Just do it like every other restaurant. It works.

Best smoked meat around no question there. Little pricey for sandwiches & the lineup can be daunting depending on when you go. Overall a must-visit venue.
I decided to finally try this Restaurant, which i have heard about for years. Unfortunately, I cannot give the restaurant a great rating. I ordered the smoked meat platter; my daughter ordered a lean sandwich. I found the meat to be a little greasy & overspiced. Simply put, not as good as Schwartz's. The fries were good. Also worth noting, there is surcharge for ordering a lean sandwich, which cost $16.80 ( pre tax). VS Snowden Delly $12.50. My platter was supposed to come with a fountain drink, but i was charged $2.75 because I got bread " on the side " with my platter. How else is bread supposed to come? So I paid $2.75 for 4 slices of bread. Honestly I felt like the whole operation was an assembly line designed to extract maximum $ from the customers. A real disappointment.

I can fully appreciate the stains & demands that the Covid 19 has had in keeping & maintaining your business with all of the Government regulations that you must now follow coupled with the need to increase your prices a little to try to recoup some of your losses, but to now be charged over $15.00 (tax in) for a regular smoke meat sandwich (which by far now exceeds other deli's) which is basically two small pieces of bread (cost ) & few slices of smoke meat (cost ), & also your smoked meat specials to now go to well over $19.00 (tax in) is way over the wall...As a result your once affordable place is no more, so myself & some of my friends who had been regular customers will now be taking our business elsewhere to more affordable Deli's, & rest assured there are plenty of them around with good old fashion Smoked Meat......Smoked Meat Pete is not the only game in town..it has lost its luster having priced itself out of a convenient market place for family & friends to attend...sadly reviewed by a former customer(s)
I have gone to this establishment over the years & have been getting disappointed more & more. This time the service was as per usual bad, a little worse than usual. I expect it so it does not surprise me as much anymore. The thing that really disappointed me the most this time was the smoked meat, no one in our party cared for it. My 10 year old daughter was the most excited to go & was the most excited to leave. She ate half her sandwich & thought the other half was slimy & gross ( her words). Good thing there is a Dairy Queen right beside, we went there so I could make it up for our groups experience.
Overall the place used to have good food & bad service, but now it has still bad service & the food is not so great anymore. The bands seem to be good every time I have gone but a guys got to eat. If you have an opportunity to go else where take it.
I have been going there for years, since way before he became a big deal. I understand if you need to increase your prices, the price of beef has drastically increased whithin the last few years. But your quality & quantity has dropped. The jumbo used to be a real Jumbo sandwich & was worth the price difference compared to the regular. Now it seems like all you get is a better piece of bread with the same quantity of meat as the regular. It looks like you have figured out a way to stack the meat so that the sandwich looks big when looking at the front of it.
Your fries are really not what they used to be, last 3 times I have been they have either been soggy or borderline burnt. They used to have the best fries period!! Now they do not even always use the famous Manitoba red potatoes they used to brag about in newspapers. & seriously, other places around have decent fries too, yet a large french fry to go is about 3 times the price of anywhere else at your restaurant.
I am sorry pete but it looks like you are all about the hype now, organizing biker events, concentrating on the music etc etc... The food is going downhill :(
I have never had such a disgusting fat filled smoked meat sandwich in my over 50 years of life. I picked it all out of the fat saturated rye bread & over 1/2 the content was fat. When the waitress showed the so called chef & owner all the fat picked out of the sandwich, he shrugged & walked away. Eexceptional customer service NOT!!!
I regularly brought friends & family to this Resto & the fries & meat are good when not all far. Off day I guess but the owners lousy attitude that got me. I will not go back. You'd think that with a restaurant full if 'vote for us' in the Resto Montreal contest that Pete would practice a bit more customer service rather than customer insult!
