the sandwiches are smaller & smaller while the price goes up they use to be my favorite i would drive from Montreal to PETE.The food is not consistant some time the fries are super good & sometime they are not realy good i told the server once that the bread qas not fresh .She was very impolite with an attitude & told me that they cook the bread daly impolightle they charge my girlfriend for her sandwich lean .This is the only delicatessen in montreal that over charge for a lean sandwich .Most people want fat in their sandwich .I am very sad because they where my favorite deli resto.Not enough meat in their sandwich .The owner should change the way he operate .
Smoked Meat was fine - a bit too fatty... but the fries were inedible. They were overcooked, hard as rock. Next time they go back to the kitchen! It's too bad because when Pete's fries are'on' they are among the best!
Returned in 2026: prices are outrageous & food portions so small!!

Smoke meat is good, delicious & plenty. There was a band playing blues music, they were great. The blonde lady behind the counter(not sure if she is an owner or manager) was so friendly. Smoke Meat Pete is a great place to stop for Smoke meat sandwiches & poutine. Also has Smoke meat in spaghetti.

Too loud..music can't hear im talking too...the portion of fries not enough. Sandwiches too small..Moe's in Pte Claire much better..plus it's smoke meat Pete too expensive for what they give you...not a fan. Sorry
Cool place, very themed. I went in for takeout, it had been recommended by two different friend groups. I did no research. Menu includes smoked meat beef, chicken, & sausage & turkey. We had smoked meat, chicken, & sausage. It came with fries & coleslaw, rye bread & pickles, plus we bought a jar of pickles. I would go back for the smoked meat, pickles, & rye bread.
You walk up to the counter to order then are served when you sit if you eat in.
A place I wanted to try because often I kept passing by that restaurant lots of cars parked so I said one day I'll try it , I wanted to see what all the hype was so I decided to go & try it. Big mistake. Way overpriced for the quality I mean I paid Close to $30 for a handful of french fries a small tiny sandwich & a small drink & the taste wasn't that great big deception I do not recommend this place 🙄, THE BELLE PROVINCE SMOKE MEAT SANDWICHES & FRENCH FRIES ARE A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER & WAY MORE AFFORDABLE
Onc upon a time this place used to have the best smoke meat in all of Montreal. Over the years, their quality has declined, the sandwiches have shrunk, while the prices have skyrocketed. Today I went with my parents for lunch & we all got the special. My mother got a good sandwich but both my father & I got the driest sandwiches we've ever had - not only was the meat super dry, the bread tasted stale & the fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. After I ate about half of it, which is not very big because it's such a small sandwich, I told my parents my sandwich wasn't good & my dad said he was thinking the same thing. We live quite far away & this was my birthday'dinner' with my parents so it was really disappointing. When the smoked meat here is good the fat just melts in your mouth. We thought maybe they mixed up our sandwiches & gave us lean. I called over one of the two waitresses & explained that these sandwiches are nothing like they usually have been. Now, because we'd both eaten half, I didn't ask for a full replacement. The waitress didn't want to take the food back & made me insist before she came back saying first the manager requested to see our receipt first - as if we were lying & had really ordered lean sandwiches. My dad found it in his wallet, & she took away our barely eaten plates. She returned later with just one sandwich on a plate, considerably smaller than the other ones, & nothing else. When we asked where are our plates, which we'd barely eaten, she said the manager told her to only give us the sandwich. So we had to argue again to get the sides back. This sandwich tasted was SO much better you would never believe it was even the same restaurant. So we're very upset that we spent all this money, got one terrible sandwich, & had to fight to get it replaced. Terrible service & terrible value. We will never come back here again.
We had our dinner today at Smoke Meat Pete Barbecue restaurant. Located at eastbound Auto-20 highway just before you drive into Montréal Island. The restaurant gives a vibe of Texas-style country side with rustic decorations, red lightening ambience, great live blues music & amazing ViandeFumée we ordered. We selected Le Spécial jumbo de Pete (picture & video attached). It took a while for them to prepare, however it was worth waiting. The smoked meat sandwich was super delicious 😋, even the fries were crispy. On the side we had a coke. To be honest, it was super heavy & the price was reasonable (31$ per person). They had ample sitting arrangement inside the restaurant, indoor & outdoor patio places. Overall we loved the environment of the restaurant & the staffs were courteous. Merci Beaucoup.
