I've been to Siam about four or five times now, & overall, I would say it's a solid, well-rounded restaurant. The space itself is elegant without being over the top. You can tell the restaurant is aiming for that more elevated dining experience, & in most ways, it succeeds.
Let's start with what keeps me coming back: the table d'hôte. It's kind of their signature offering, a generous spread of five to six starters, two mains, rice, & either tea or coffee to wrap up for 90$. It's a great format if you want to explore the menu in one sitting. You get variety, consistency, & good value for what you receive.
The appetizers are solid across the board. From crispy spring rolls & chicken satay to those coconut shrimp skewers & dumplings, everything comes out fresh, well plated, & balanced in flavour. The sauces are well thought out, sweet chili, peanut, nuoc cham, & the mango salad adds that much-needed crunch & acidity. It's not reinventing anything, but it's all well executed.
The real star, though & I don't say this lightly is the beef red curry! It's phenomenal. The beef is so tender it literally melts in your mouth, like butter on a hot skillet. The curry itself is rich, velvety, & full of depth. You get layers of flavour: creamy coconut, a punch of chili heat, those unmistakable notes of lemongrass & kaffir lime, all balanced in a way that hits the palate just right. I've had it every single time I've gone, & it's one of the few dishes I'd actually describe as addictive.
Now... the less exciting part. The table d'hôte hasn't changed in at least three years. Same starters, same mains, same everything. & while it's comforting to know what to expect, I do think the menu could benefit from a bit of seasonal rotation or at least one or two new additions. For a place that positions itself on the higher end, a little evolution would go a long way. When I go out for this kind of dining experience, part of the joy is in discovering new things... & right now, that's missing.
That's where the five-star rating drops a bit for me. It's not the quality, that's there. It's the lack of freshness in the offering over time.
The drink menu is solid but leans expensive. Cocktails are well made & beautifully presented, tropical, often layered with Thai flavours like basil, ginger, or mango, but again, it adds up quickly, especially if you're doing the full menu.
Service is generally great, professional & warm, & the pace is well managed. You can feel the intention of offering a more refined experience. That said, I did have one visit that really missed the mark. One of the mains came out bland, which was a shock given how flavourful the food usually is. The dish was genuinely disappointing, & unfortunately, the staff didn't acknowledge it or offer anything to make up for it, which, to be honest, was a bit of a letdown at this price point. But in fairness, it was a one-time thing out of several great meals.
Most recently, I brought my partner, who's from Asia & usually quite tough to impress when it comes to Southeast Asian cuisine. He was genuinely impressed, with the flavours, the attention to detail, & the plating. That reaction alone gave me some reassurance that despite the stagnant menu, the core quality is still there.
So yes, Siam is still a place I would recommend. The dishes are consistent, visually beautiful, & generally packed with flavour. It's just time for the menu to get the same kind of attention the plating & ambiance already do.Voir plus
Chic & business casual aesthetics! The panang beef was so good, with a pungent coconut taste 😋 paired perfectly with jasmine rice (free refills) ! The server was rly kind & even gave us an extra bowl of rice to go.Voir plus
We had dinner here during our stay at the Warwick Hotel, drawn in by the excellent reviews-& it truly delivered. This was our first Thai fine dining experience in Montreal, & it exceeded expectations.
We ordered the Tom Kah Shrimp Soup, Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Rolled Printanier Sticky Toffe Mango rice, Chocolate Lava Cake & a Strawberry Mojito. Each dish was beautifully presented & full of vibrant flavors. The quality & attention to detail were clear in every bite.
Our server, Loi, was kind, professional, & made us feel very welcome. The menu is concise but well-curated, offering a thoughtful selection of dishes.
We'll definitely return on our next visit to Montreal!
Dinner for two, busy Friday night. Sat upstairs above the bar. Nice decor. Bit of a party atmosphere (several birthdays), background 2000s pop music. Could be considered noisy for some people. Food was excellent & beautifully presented (satay, papaya salad, green curry & chicken fried rice). Duck wontons were nice, but a bit less flavourful. Service was attentive & timely. Would go back.Voir plus
It's been a while since I've had food that blew my mind. Siam is the best place to go if you love authentic yet elevated Thai food.
We had the duck wontons, khao soi & the Thai roasted chicken followed by the mango sticky rice for dessert. Each dish & element was unique & had levels of flavour.
Would definitely recommend this place for special occasions.Voir plus
Decent food, decent service. Got the Khao Soi with beef & the panang curry with tofu (substituted beef)
Panang was watery, & traditionally it tends to be the thickest of the curries but that was not the case.
Khao Soi was good, would definitely come back again.
Mango sticky rice was delicious! Reminded me of my trip to Thailand.Voir plus
Easy to find. Convenient downtown location. Lots of tables & great for up to 4-6 people.
Walked in on a Sunday night with 4 people. No wait.
Duck wontons were nice! I've never had duck as a filling before.
Their massaman curry is made with cashews instead of peanuts. It was still good, just different.
The Gai Lan was oddly finely chopped. Pictured you see one more whole piece but the bed of it underneath was weirdly diced.
The mango sticky rice was an unusual format but I think they're aiming for'elevated' or more'trendy' rather than traditional. It was still tasty, I was just hoping for more of a slice(s) of mango, rather than a piece of jelly & tiny diced pieces of mango.
Server seemed overwhelmed looking after the whole second floor. Attention was infrequent but he was kind & knowledgeable.
Price points were fairly high. Wouldn't necessarily come back with a wealth of other dinner options in the area, but it was a good meal.Voir plus
The place is okay, I don't find it extremely fancy but the food is very good, the beef curry is to die for, the meat was perfectly cooked & the sauce with the rice was exquisite. My bf had the fried chicken & it was quite good too, the only down side of our experience was the dessert, I really love mango sticky rice but their version of it is not it, the flavor is underwhelming, there are mango bits that taste like pastry rather than the actual fruit, I was really disappointed. I understand that they are trying to elevate the dish but in this case, less is better, stick to the original PLEASE.Voir plus
Wow, the best experience asian cuisine. As asian myself, I like everything, atmosphere, food & most of all kudos to the staffs, they are very welcoming & have positive attitude !! Keep that smile guys! It adds flavor to your cuisine ;-) & one my favorite is the mango sticky rice cocktail!!! 💯Voir plus
Visited Siam's for lunch on a Friday. Vibe & decor were amazing. Our server was attentive & enthusiastic which made the overall experience pleasant.
Food-wise I had better Thai food at other restaurants. Started off with the shrimp tom yum & beef satay which were good although I wish the satay came with peanut sauce instead of their homemade sriracha which tasted like the normal ones you can find at the supermarket.
For mains we had the cashew nut chicken with an upgrade to the vegetable fried rice, I loved this dish! The pad kee mao was okay & the rice noodles lacked the nice chewy texture, however it was loaded with beef & veggies. Portions are really good here!
I would return again to give some of their other dishes a try. They also have an extensive menu to choose from.Voir plus
The food was delicious & the service amazing. They were very flexible to allow me to order a mango sticky rice to go!Voir plus
This is our third time to Siam, I am from Ottawa & I come to MTL just for this restaurant. We found this restaurant by accident one day because it was so well designed & the atmosphere was so welcoming. We ended up coming back every year since. What surprised me was how elegant the presentation of the food has always been, & at the same time the favor is unique, authentic, & delivers a level of satisfaction & it's not pretentious at all. It's delicious & delivers a level of comfort all at the same time. The cocktails are to die for, especially the Mango Sticky Rice & reverse Mango sticky rice cocktail. This is the only time I took the time review because our waiter made our experience perfect, he was fun, entertaining & made great recommendations. We enjoyed our delicious food & drinks accommodation from Oliver, this guy worked so hard to ensure our experience was top notch, we can also see he works so hard for every table he waited on. We left the restaurant feeling so happy & we can see he was doing the same with his other tables. Man, he really deserves a vacation!Voir plus
Second time dinning at Siam & we weren't impressed. We did really like the beef skewers & our cocktails. The chicken wings were also good. But the drunken noodles was just okay & the beef in it, was flavorless. It was supposed to be spicy but it just wasn't. Same thing for my seafood curry, just ok & the bowl of rice that comes with it, is so small, not enough for the curry. The seafood is 3 small shrimps, 1 scallop cut in 3, 3 small clams & 2 small pieces of calamari. Not many veggies. The flavor was just ok nothing special. It also says that the curry is spicy but my ginger cocktail was spicier... The decoration is really nice & so is the ambiance. But we didn't spend over 80$ for the decorations so it was disappointing. Last time it was the same, we enjoyed the appetizers & the cocktails but the dishes were disappointing.Voir plus
Delicious food with variety of options. We tried chicken satay, chicken dumpling, chicken basil fried rice & pad Thai. Everything was 10 on 10.Voir plus
I ❤️ this place, food was so yummy, best part was mango sticky rice cocktail 🍹 was so good 😋 I didn't like the desserts, we tried 3 of them but it was not especial for us, but we had really good time & thx to Tommy, he was especial sweet heart who served us with patience. 🙏❤️🌺🇨🇦Voir plus
This restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance, excellent drinks, & delicious food. The mango sticky rice cocktail is a must-try. The tasting appetizer offers a chance to sample a variety of dishes. The filet mignon in the pad thai stands out as the highlight. The green curry was a bit salty. The service was just okay; perhaps because we visited around noon, the staff seemed understaffed.Voir plus
Delicious, fresh food & even better service! Our server Olivier was awesome & gave us free shots when he found that we were here for my friend's bachelorette party 😊 We had a super great time, had amazing drinks (I recommend the mango sticky rice cocktail), & will definitely be back again. Thanks Olivier!Voir plus
Absolutely beautiful place & the staff are amazing! The food was so delicious & filling. We got: coconut shrimp, roasted chicken & the salmon. Everything was absolutely tasty! So savory & delicious from the first to the last bite. For drinks we got: mango mocktail & the mahi tahi, both were delicious! Finished the night with a mango sticky rice dessert, could barely finish but it was amazing! I would go back if I lived in Montreal!Voir plus
The food was amazing. We tried the tom yom soup & green curry. I gave 2 stars to service due to very slow service. It took a while to bring water & then a while to take our order. When bringing the food, we got it bowl by bowl so we had to wait for rice. & then we asked for the bill & the person forgot.Voir plus
Service was great, friendly waiter. Very lovely & aesthetically pleasing decor & atmosphere. Most importantly food was delicious highly suggest their Thai basil fried rice & pad thai. Portions were generous.Voir plus
The place is nice but i didn't feel thai vibe but the customer service was friendly. I ordered fried rice it was delicious, i was able to smell the heat from the Wok. Lard was ok, spicy chicken wings, papaya salad was not fresh. The best part was the drinks. The cocktails were delicious! Will come back for tapas night here.Voir plus
Add this place to my favourite restaurant list in Montreal. It is located middle of town however the price was reasonable ( i was surprised when i saw the bill) & also not too hard to the parking. We stopped by there for a quick lunch ( literally we have one hour). The food was served quickly after letting our server know that we only got 1 hour. We ordered the duck confit wonton & coconut shrimp as appetizers, it wasn't too special (7/10). Shrimp pad thai & basil fried rice were main dishes. Those were amazing ( 10/10) . I can said it was the best pad thai & basil i ever had in canada. We did add up the seafood salad to our mean. But sorry it wasn't my taste. 9/10 for everything. Definitely will be back again. Thanks for our sever for the quick service & food recommendations. ( Sorry i don't remember your name ) & we hope to be seated in your next section again. Thanks for all.Voir plus
I'm confounded but will surmise my experience quickly. They sat us in the worse possible seating arrangement. A highchair on a regular sized table. We had to ask to switch. Not sure why they would find that acceptable. That's one. Orders a bottle of wine & they forgot to bring it. Had to reask when we were already eating out appetizers so we didn't enjoy a drink before the start of meal. Three. They forgot to add the dressing to my wife's meal & forgot the rice for mine. What a weird experience, especially when you think this is a high scaled restaurant.Voir plus
My friends & I were craving a mango sticky rice so we came to have dessert before closing time. Very good. Excellent service from Olivier, we were very lucky to have him as our waiter, he's incredibly funny & made our experience super enjoyable. We will be back!Voir plus
Muy muy buena comida. Excelente sabor y presentación. Todo me encantó pero mi favorito fue gapao rice.Voir plus
Had an amazing meal at Siam with great service. The tasting platter was a great experience along with the mains. The white chocolate coconut lava cake & mango sticky rice cocktail were absolutely amazing. Could not recommend it further!Voir plus
Excellent Thai food with an upscale vibe. Tried the following Papaya salad - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ not too spicy but a little heavy on the fish sauce. Chicken Tom Yum soup - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - good flavor, not spicy - the bowl is small considering the price. Green curry with braised beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent flavor & the beef is super tender. Recommended, I am sure the chicken version is also a good pick. Drunken noodles with beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - excellent flavor & texture, really enjoyed it. Mango sticky rice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - nice presentation & good flavyand texture - I expected more fresh mango on the top. Cocktails - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the mango sticky rice signature drink is a a winner, good flavor & not skimpy on the alcohol ... obviously is a sweet drink. Overall really enjoyed the place, I could say that this is the best Thai food place in MTL. All dishes pack flavor & have high quality ingredients but the prices are on the expensive side. Good pick for date night ... Will definitely visit again.Voir plus
It's been a while I haven't come here. This year came to Siam with the mtl a table menu. The menu is pretty good for group of people to try. I like the vegetarian curry. The pork & chicken dishes were too salty for me. The desserts were delicious. Recommend the mango sticky rice. The rose sangria was good to share. At dinner time , the restaurant is packed, pretty noisy. But the service was good. 👍🏻Voir plus
I am very picky about where I eat. Food is an experience for me, it is something to enjoy. So when I saw this place had duck on red curry, I had to try it. My surprise was significant when we sat down & the duck on red curry that was on display on a picture at front was not on the menu. So we asked if it was possible to order it, server said "yes, is just extra"... Fast forward to the bill, we were charged for beef curry at cad$32 & duck cad$17, which means the duck on red curry cost us cad$48, & we never saw the beef that we were being charged for; which means white rice & red curry (no veggies) cost $32. How is that possible! & honestly, the food was okay. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad either. Just okay. My surprise at the veggie less duck curry was such that I didn't take any pictures of it. The only meal worthwhile was the seafood salad.Voir plus
