Read many good reviews so our expectations were probably high. However, from the moment we walked in, the experience was good at best. We were shown to a table on the upper outer terrace covered in ants. We were moved inside at our request, but placed directly under the aircon outlet, so we were cold. The bottled beer I was served was beyond its best before date (only be a few days, so I wouldn't be mentioning this but for all of the other small things that just show a lack of attention to detail). A shared starter of Karee Puffs were really nice, but they came out on a bed of green leaves that were well beyond eating. They were dry, wilted & dead. I mentioned this to the server who didn't express any view & just shrugged his shoulders. The mains were tasty, but only warm, not helped by the aircon or the fact that we did not get new warm plates (our starter plates were left on the table). My wife had a red chicken curry (indicated at one chilli spice level) & I had the green beef curry (2 chilli), but there was no spice/heat in my curry at all. Overall, the venue looks great, & the food was tasty, but warm at best & very poorly presented. This experience was just not as good as it could have so easily been. Small improvements in attention to detail would make a huge difference.Voir plus
I've been to Siam about four or five times now, & overall, I would say it's a solid, well-rounded restaurant. The space itself is elegant without being over the top. You can tell the restaurant is aiming for that more elevated dining experience, & in most ways, it succeeds.
Let's start with what keeps me coming back: the table d'hôte. It's kind of their signature offering, a generous spread of five to six starters, two mains, rice, & either tea or coffee to wrap up for 90$. It's a great format if you want to explore the menu in one sitting. You get variety, consistency, & good value for what you receive.
The appetizers are solid across the board. From crispy spring rolls & chicken satay to those coconut shrimp skewers & dumplings, everything comes out fresh, well plated, & balanced in flavour. The sauces are well thought out, sweet chili, peanut, nuoc cham, & the mango salad adds that much-needed crunch & acidity. It's not reinventing anything, but it's all well executed.
The real star, though & I don't say this lightly is the beef red curry! It's phenomenal. The beef is so tender it literally melts in your mouth, like butter on a hot skillet. The curry itself is rich, velvety, & full of depth. You get layers of flavour: creamy coconut, a punch of chili heat, those unmistakable notes of lemongrass & kaffir lime, all balanced in a way that hits the palate just right. I've had it every single time I've gone, & it's one of the few dishes I'd actually describe as addictive.
Now... the less exciting part. The table d'hôte hasn't changed in at least three years. Same starters, same mains, same everything. & while it's comforting to know what to expect, I do think the menu could benefit from a bit of seasonal rotation or at least one or two new additions. For a place that positions itself on the higher end, a little evolution would go a long way. When I go out for this kind of dining experience, part of the joy is in discovering new things... & right now, that's missing.
That's where the five-star rating drops a bit for me. It's not the quality, that's there. It's the lack of freshness in the offering over time.
The drink menu is solid but leans expensive. Cocktails are well made & beautifully presented, tropical, often layered with Thai flavours like basil, ginger, or mango, but again, it adds up quickly, especially if you're doing the full menu.
Service is generally great, professional & warm, & the pace is well managed. You can feel the intention of offering a more refined experience. That said, I did have one visit that really missed the mark. One of the mains came out bland, which was a shock given how flavourful the food usually is. The dish was genuinely disappointing, & unfortunately, the staff didn't acknowledge it or offer anything to make up for it, which, to be honest, was a bit of a letdown at this price point. But in fairness, it was a one-time thing out of several great meals.
Most recently, I brought my partner, who's from Asia & usually quite tough to impress when it comes to Southeast Asian cuisine. He was genuinely impressed, with the flavours, the attention to detail, & the plating. That reaction alone gave me some reassurance that despite the stagnant menu, the core quality is still there.
So yes, Siam is still a place I would recommend. The dishes are consistent, visually beautiful, & generally packed with flavour. It's just time for the menu to get the same kind of attention the plating & ambiance already do.Voir plus
Amazing food. Order the Beef Panang curry & the dumplings, you won't regret it. Our waitress Marilie was incredible.Voir plus
I was hosting a Bridal Shower for my friend & thankfully Siam offered a private room. They were extremely accommodating with us bringing our decor, setting up, & bringing in little treats. The staff were extremely welcoming. Oliver was funny, kind & went above & beyond for us & the group. (As you can tell in the photo- He had the soon to be bride & guests laughing the entire time).
Not only that, the food was AMAZING. We had ordered from the set menu. Which was extremely worth it. I had gotten the Chicken Satay skewers (Super tender & flavourful) & the Green Beef Curry. (The amount of meat was generous which is usually rare for fancy places). Both of these dishes were amazing & I've had lots of Thai food.
Other than our room, the interior of the restaurant was beautiful & had a massive buddha statue, which I loveee.
I am from out of town, so hosting an event in another city is hard, but Siam made it extremely easy for me & I did not feel judged or pressured by the staff with the amount of decor we had.
Would recommend 100%Voir plus
Absolutely delicious tasty & we had a very good service
I strongly recommend everything we had was very good : green curry , dumplings , larb & moreVoir plus
Dinner for two, busy Friday night. Sat upstairs above the bar. Nice decor. Bit of a party atmosphere (several birthdays), background 2000s pop music. Could be considered noisy for some people. Food was excellent & beautifully presented (satay, papaya salad, green curry & chicken fried rice). Duck wontons were nice, but a bit less flavourful. Service was attentive & timely. Would go back.Voir plus
Just had our first experience at Siam loved the food our waiter Umair was really attentive & helpful. & also reccomended the red chicken curry & the green chicken curry which were both phenomenal!Voir plus
The food was great, I got the beef panang curry which had super flavourful broth & tender beef. Our server Umair was also very friendly & helpful, & even helped us celebrate my friend's birthday by bringing us a dessert.Voir plus
Decent food, decent service. Got the Khao Soi with beef & the panang curry with tofu (substituted beef)
Panang was watery, & traditionally it tends to be the thickest of the curries but that was not the case.
Khao Soi was good, would definitely come back again.
Mango sticky rice was delicious! Reminded me of my trip to Thailand.Voir plus
Easy to find. Convenient downtown location. Lots of tables & great for up to 4-6 people.
Walked in on a Sunday night with 4 people. No wait.
Duck wontons were nice! I've never had duck as a filling before.
Their massaman curry is made with cashews instead of peanuts. It was still good, just different.
The Gai Lan was oddly finely chopped. Pictured you see one more whole piece but the bed of it underneath was weirdly diced.
The mango sticky rice was an unusual format but I think they're aiming for'elevated' or more'trendy' rather than traditional. It was still tasty, I was just hoping for more of a slice(s) of mango, rather than a piece of jelly & tiny diced pieces of mango.
Server seemed overwhelmed looking after the whole second floor. Attention was infrequent but he was kind & knowledgeable.
Price points were fairly high. Wouldn't necessarily come back with a wealth of other dinner options in the area, but it was a good meal.Voir plus
The best Massaman curry I have had outside Thailand!Voir plus
The place is okay, I don't find it extremely fancy but the food is very good, the beef curry is to die for, the meat was perfectly cooked & the sauce with the rice was exquisite. My bf had the fried chicken & it was quite good too, the only down side of our experience was the dessert, I really love mango sticky rice but their version of it is not it, the flavor is underwhelming, there are mango bits that taste like pastry rather than the actual fruit, I was really disappointed. I understand that they are trying to elevate the dish but in this case, less is better, stick to the original PLEASE.Voir plus
The food was absolute garbage. I would of never fed my dog this food. It was the worst curry, too much coconut milk & watery. It honestly tasted like a bouillon soup. They charged us 3$ per person for a cake we cut ourselves, there was no service given there. I had to beg the chef for a kitchen knife because they provided a butter knife. A friend of ours ordered coke & received it at the end of his meal.Voir plus
The food was really good! One of the best (we took entry coconut shrimp, main, peanut chicken & beef green curry) but the service super bad, the server forgot what I ordered, in the open bar from the table you could see the employees making jokes & being super unprofessional, when we left the restaurant we said thank you to the host & we were completely ignored, it looks like she was too busy telling jokes with her coworker. In general really really good food, but the staff in general super unprofessional.Voir plus
We recently went to Siam Centre-Ville for a celebratory dinner. I must say that the food was exceptional & the experience was pleasant, friendly & professional. We ordered cocktails, spring (salad) rolls, a stir-fry & green curry beef. The presentation & flavours were appealing. But the green curry was the star dish though. Incredible. It was aromatic & mildly spicy. The dish also came with some additional fresh chilis if you prefer your food to be more spicy. However, what I appreciated the most was the attention & care taken with allergens. There is a separate menu that explains the allergens in the menu items. Thus, I was able to order a gluten & dairy-free meal. I highly recommend & will definitely be back.Voir plus
We ordered duck wontons, Khao pad salmon, & Beef panang curry. Amazing food experience, will definitely come back!Voir plus
I like their massaman curry. Most of their curry's are tasty. The service is niceVoir plus
Service & food was amazing. We had Davinder as our server. He is very personable & fast. I had the seafood in yellow curry as my main which was delicious. We shared the chicken dumplings that have a spicy peanut butter sauce that I just love. Finished it off with sharing the mango cheesecake that was so good. Will definitely be stoping in again!Voir plus
I recently had the chicken curry, & it was fantastic! It was a bit spicy, but all the flavors were on point. The vibes were incredible, & the service was exceptional-Oliver was the best! I would definitely recommend it!Voir plus
This place looked nice & had a lot of great reviews. 2 of the 5 people liked their choices. The tofu was way too sweet, so couldn't be eaten. The panang beef was almost 50% fat & zero vegetables. I felt sick later that night & today, in spite of cutting off the fat. My husband, who loves green curry, could barely get through his. It was a Saturday night & they were kind to squeeze us in. We could see the wait person was running behind, so we did not order any beverages so as it to overload her. I had to finally go up to the bar to get appropriate flatware for my dish & she never checked in on us. We opted to not order desserts as she was clearly overloaded & had to inquire with the front desk for a check. We love Thai, but this was disappointing.Voir plus
Best meal we have had in a long time!!! Green Curry Beef was incredible, coconut shrimp skewers amazing, chicken dumplings were delicious, will go back next time we are in Montreal.Voir plus
Ambiance was good. Olivier was great & friendly. But some foods were not at our expectations , although expensive. Seafood curry was not nice & very little quantity of seafood were there. The Pad Thai lobster was disappointing as very little lobster was there. The sweet & sour chicken wasn't nice, too much sauce for too little ingredients.Voir plus
Restaurant has nice indoor & outdoor seating options. We sat inside. Cocktails were tasty but weak on the alcohol. Barely tasted the alcohol. I ordered panang beef curry. The sauce was excellent but the beef came as two pieces & they were tough & too fatty for my liking. The cashew chicken was excellent as per my guest. The waiter was very friendly & service was good. I would go back but I would not order the beef dish again.Voir plus
Amazing resto !! Definitely recommend if you're a foodie! The atmosphere is stunning... walking up to a beautiful Buddha then painted stairway to the fun patio.. ! I thought I video's lol. Oopsie! Great service! Oliver thank you for your attentiveness, great recommendations on dishes & your treats to help celebrate my daughter's bday! We got the panang curry, braised beef curry & rainbow salad! All beautifully presented & super yummy! I did an oopsie again & didn't video like I thought! We will definitely go back!Voir plus
Beautiful terrasse, really wonderful wait staff, amazing food. I had the duck confit curry & can highly recommendVoir plus
Second time dinning at Siam & we weren't impressed. We did really like the beef skewers & our cocktails. The chicken wings were also good. But the drunken noodles was just okay & the beef in it, was flavorless. It was supposed to be spicy but it just wasn't. Same thing for my seafood curry, just ok & the bowl of rice that comes with it, is so small, not enough for the curry. The seafood is 3 small shrimps, 1 scallop cut in 3, 3 small clams & 2 small pieces of calamari. Not many veggies. The flavor was just ok nothing special. It also says that the curry is spicy but my ginger cocktail was spicier... The decoration is really nice & so is the ambiance. But we didn't spend over 80$ for the decorations so it was disappointing. Last time it was the same, we enjoyed the appetizers & the cocktails but the dishes were disappointing.Voir plus
Les plats sont simplement délicieux!!!! Je me suis régalé. J'ai été très bien conseiller par ma serveuse (les sauces des plats Curry sont débile!!!) Aucun doute que j'y retournerai!Voir plus
