I've been to Siam about four or five times now, & overall, I would say it's a solid, well-rounded restaurant. The space itself is elegant without being over the top. You can tell the restaurant is aiming for that more elevated dining experience, & in most ways, it succeeds.
Let's start with what keeps me coming back: the table d'hôte. It's kind of their signature offering, a generous spread of five to six starters, two mains, rice, & either tea or coffee to wrap up for 90$. It's a great format if you want to explore the menu in one sitting. You get variety, consistency, & good value for what you receive.
The appetizers are solid across the board. From crispy spring rolls & chicken satay to those coconut shrimp skewers & dumplings, everything comes out fresh, well plated, & balanced in flavour. The sauces are well thought out, sweet chili, peanut, nuoc cham, & the mango salad adds that much-needed crunch & acidity. It's not reinventing anything, but it's all well executed.
The real star, though & I don't say this lightly is the beef red curry! It's phenomenal. The beef is so tender it literally melts in your mouth, like butter on a hot skillet. The curry itself is rich, velvety, & full of depth. You get layers of flavour: creamy coconut, a punch of chili heat, those unmistakable notes of lemongrass & kaffir lime, all balanced in a way that hits the palate just right. I've had it every single time I've gone, & it's one of the few dishes I'd actually describe as addictive.
Now... the less exciting part. The table d'hôte hasn't changed in at least three years. Same starters, same mains, same everything. & while it's comforting to know what to expect, I do think the menu could benefit from a bit of seasonal rotation or at least one or two new additions. For a place that positions itself on the higher end, a little evolution would go a long way. When I go out for this kind of dining experience, part of the joy is in discovering new things... & right now, that's missing.
That's where the five-star rating drops a bit for me. It's not the quality, that's there. It's the lack of freshness in the offering over time.
The drink menu is solid but leans expensive. Cocktails are well made & beautifully presented, tropical, often layered with Thai flavours like basil, ginger, or mango, but again, it adds up quickly, especially if you're doing the full menu.
Service is generally great, professional & warm, & the pace is well managed. You can feel the intention of offering a more refined experience. That said, I did have one visit that really missed the mark. One of the mains came out bland, which was a shock given how flavourful the food usually is. The dish was genuinely disappointing, & unfortunately, the staff didn't acknowledge it or offer anything to make up for it, which, to be honest, was a bit of a letdown at this price point. But in fairness, it was a one-time thing out of several great meals.
Most recently, I brought my partner, who's from Asia & usually quite tough to impress when it comes to Southeast Asian cuisine. He was genuinely impressed, with the flavours, the attention to detail, & the plating. That reaction alone gave me some reassurance that despite the stagnant menu, the core quality is still there.
So yes, Siam is still a place I would recommend. The dishes are consistent, visually beautiful, & generally packed with flavour. It's just time for the menu to get the same kind of attention the plating & ambiance already do.Voir plus
Food was amazing. Loves the Cashew Chicken & Pad Thai here. Mango drink was also great.Voir plus
The food was soooo good! The drinks as wellVoir plus
I had an amazing experience. The food & drinks were delicious but the best part was our waitress Julianne who was attentive, funny, professional & made our night overall special! I will definitely come back.Voir plus
We had reserved weeks in advance & asked for a more quiet spot for an anniversary (party of 2). One of us has a hearing disorder, but we're not asking for a soundproof booth in a busy restaurant. Despite the restaurant being moderately empty on the ground floor due to many leaving for the hockey game, we were sat smack in the middle of 2 other tables elbow to elbow. We had to lean away from the waiter when he came to take orders standing between tables because it was uncomfortably close. One couple asked to be moved & they refused, another woman was allowed to go upstairs after insisting; we didn't bother asking & making a scene too. We were put behind the bar about 2 meters away from the phone they let ring way too long, the packing (& ripping) of paper bags for takeout, the dishes, the place where the waiters punched in orders, & where the staff sat down after their shift to giggle. Basically the "labor" corner of the restaurant. I couldn't imagine a louder & more obnoxious place to put us. Every single table by the street window was empty. The waiter never came back after dropping the plates to ask if we needed anything else & we were only given 1 drink. I had to get up, walk around the bar & wave him down to pay my bill. The 3 walk-in tables they served next to us during our time there had similar complaints. For 3/4 tables he had to come back & ask what the order was again. An older lady asked him if it's because the restaurant doesn't allow him to write things down & he answered he just couldn't find a pen. I almost gave him one from my bag. I dont blame the kiddo he was likely new, this place is just mismanaged. During lunch it's good for a fairly quick in & out. Don't bother trying to have a proper dinner with someoneVoir plus
This was the best Thai/Cambodian restaurant I have tried in Montreal. Our server Olivier was amazing & really gave us the full Siam experience. He explained the full menu & made sure the food & drinks were to our liking. I will definitely come back & potentially celebrate a birthday here!Voir plus
Great place , great location , great food , great drinks & great service , thank you 🙏Voir plus
Great terrasse, service & drinks. The portions are generous even for the appetizers. Would definitely come back!Voir plus
This is our third time to Siam, I am from Ottawa & I come to MTL just for this restaurant. We found this restaurant by accident one day because it was so well designed & the atmosphere was so welcoming. We ended up coming back every year since. What surprised me was how elegant the presentation of the food has always been, & at the same time the favor is unique, authentic, & delivers a level of satisfaction & it's not pretentious at all. It's delicious & delivers a level of comfort all at the same time. The cocktails are to die for, especially the Mango Sticky Rice & reverse Mango sticky rice cocktail. This is the only time I took the time review because our waiter made our experience perfect, he was fun, entertaining & made great recommendations. We enjoyed our delicious food & drinks accommodation from Oliver, this guy worked so hard to ensure our experience was top notch, we can also see he works so hard for every table he waited on. We left the restaurant feeling so happy & we can see he was doing the same with his other tables. Man, he really deserves a vacation!Voir plus
Food was on point but our server was terrible. Took forever to take a drink order & then when we did, he never came back for a reorder. What should have been a casual hourish dinner, because the server was not attentive we sat there for over 2 hours - main & 1 drink were all that we ordered due to this. Food was excellent.Voir plus
Was staying in hotel & they highly recommended. The food was incredible. So flavorful & filling & the ambience was great. However, the service was terrible. Seemed to be one server for the entire first floor. He barely came to the table, & in the end we had to flag down a different server for water & the rest of our drinks, a runner for cutlery, flag down the hostess for the cheque. It ruined the experience . I eiuldnt go back based on thisVoir plus
This restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance, excellent drinks, & delicious food. The mango sticky rice cocktail is a must-try. The tasting appetizer offers a chance to sample a variety of dishes. The filet mignon in the pad thai stands out as the highlight. The green curry was a bit salty. The service was just okay; perhaps because we visited around noon, the staff seemed understaffed.Voir plus
Delicious, fresh food & even better service! Our server Olivier was awesome & gave us free shots when he found that we were here for my friend's bachelorette party 😊 We had a super great time, had amazing drinks (I recommend the mango sticky rice cocktail), & will definitely be back again. Thanks Olivier!Voir plus
Absolutely beautiful place & the staff are amazing! The food was so delicious & filling. We got: coconut shrimp, roasted chicken & the salmon. Everything was absolutely tasty! So savory & delicious from the first to the last bite. For drinks we got: mango mocktail & the mahi tahi, both were delicious! Finished the night with a mango sticky rice dessert, could barely finish but it was amazing! I would go back if I lived in Montreal!Voir plus
Went yesterday for the Father's Day. The experience was just average, I mean the service was very good, but the food wasn't as expected. The portions are small, & the prices are very high ! I understand the economy challenges, but 36$ for a Ksoi or a Pad Thai (with taxes & tip), it's 144$ for 4 people ! No drinks, juice or tea. The cook on site doesn't know how to cook Thai food, which is accepted & normal in Montreal. It's more marketing than anything else. Hard to find a parking around. The restaurant is clean & the decoration is cute. The waiting time was normal, just 20 minutes or so after ordering.Voir plus
The place is nice but i didn't feel thai vibe but the customer service was friendly. I ordered fried rice it was delicious, i was able to smell the heat from the Wok. Lard was ok, spicy chicken wings, papaya salad was not fresh. The best part was the drinks. The cocktails were delicious! Will come back for tapas night here.Voir plus
Very bad greetings at first. The hostess said we didn't have a reservation even though we gave the right number of persons, the name of the ressrvation & the time...then she realized we are on her screen & that she is just not smart enough to read the last name correctly. Then she gave us attitude when she brought us to our table. She dropped the menus on the table, look at us & said nothing & left. Just very childish attitude & not professional. Food was very good though. The drinks were very good also. We had to ask for water & even though the waiter was nice, we just felt the whole staff service is pretty basic & nothing is done to make you feel great. Great food. Staff problem.Voir plus
I went to Siam for a bachelorette dinner & it was great. The food was delicious. We had the imperial rolls & the karee puffs which were both so good. Our group had chicken pad thai, vegan pad thai, & Chef Pantithit's crispy chicken & we all loved our meals. The Lychee Sangaria was so tasty. Our server was attentive & friendly. He checked on us regularly & was great about refilling waters, getting more drinks, etc. I highly recommend going there!Voir plus
We had reservations on a show night so limited menu & presumably faster service. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks from the time of ordering & about the same for the food. This could be improved. I ordered the massaman curry with chicken. The chicken was excellent the curry wasn't. I recently ate at Siam Dix30 & had the same meal. In every single aspect it was considerably better.Voir plus
I'm confounded but will surmise my experience quickly. They sat us in the worse possible seating arrangement. A highchair on a regular sized table. We had to ask to switch. Not sure why they would find that acceptable. That's one. Orders a bottle of wine & they forgot to bring it. Had to reask when we were already eating out appetizers so we didn't enjoy a drink before the start of meal. Three. They forgot to add the dressing to my wife's meal & forgot the rice for mine. What a weird experience, especially when you think this is a high scaled restaurant.Voir plus
Food was great & so amazing. One of the best tasting Asian food I have tried in downtown Montreal. My favorites were the Duck wontons (yummy), Panang Curry beef, Red curry duck, Khao yam (Rainbow salad), Kai Yang (Thai Roasted chicken) & Satay chicken. The Kai Yang chicken was phenomenal. The curries were all great specially the Panang curry beef (very tender & soft). The Khao yam was the best salad I have ever tasted ever; savoury & a tasty variety of Asian flavours. The Kai Yang was so flavourful, so yummy. The drinks were also good. We had the taro & mango flavoured desserts. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the service. The service was extra super super slow & indifferent. I could not get the waiter. I would have had to do acrobatics to get his attention. I would probably die of choking & still not get the water. I wanted to order but nobody seems to want to serve us & we had to wait so long to get someone & order something. Even paying was so long & tiresome. If only the service was good, I would have given 10 stars because food was amazing. The place also felt a bit crowded. When I made the reservation I specifically asked for a nice cozy, quiet & private area because it is for a birthday but we were in a crowded & noisy area. The bathroom was nice & clean at least & the seats were comfortable.Voir plus
Amazing food & drinks. Staff is friendly. Will definitely go again. Highly recommendedVoir plus
The food, drinks, service & aesthetics were all amazing. This is my go-to place for Thai food. Would highly recommend & go again. A perfect spot to celebrate a special day!
Food is not as deep tasting as some of the other thai restaurants we've tried & is on the pricier side. Service was good & drinks are good too.Voir plus
Excellent Thai food with an upscale vibe. Tried the following Papaya salad - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ not too spicy but a little heavy on the fish sauce. Chicken Tom Yum soup - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - good flavor, not spicy - the bowl is small considering the price. Green curry with braised beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent flavor & the beef is super tender. Recommended, I am sure the chicken version is also a good pick. Drunken noodles with beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - excellent flavor & texture, really enjoyed it. Mango sticky rice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - nice presentation & good flavyand texture - I expected more fresh mango on the top. Cocktails - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the mango sticky rice signature drink is a a winner, good flavor & not skimpy on the alcohol ... obviously is a sweet drink. Overall really enjoyed the place, I could say that this is the best Thai food place in MTL. All dishes pack flavor & have high quality ingredients but the prices are on the expensive side. Good pick for date night ... Will definitely visit again.Voir plus
je suis venu samedi dernier & le cher olivier m'a servit. son service était impeccable, les drinks & la nourriture étaient super. je viendrais définitivement souvent. merciVoir plus
Everything was good overall just kinda of disappointed as the entrees are very small portions!! Very good drink selection
Great food as usual but the service time is beyond SLOW. You wait 15-20 minutes for a drink even when sitting at the bar! However having said that the food is worth the wait
