Review Summary

Shali Restaurant is widely praised as one of Montreal's best Persian spots, with koobideh and joojeh noted for their juiciness and flavor, generous portions, and fresh ingredients that make the kebabs stand out; the menu is described as authentic with saffron rice and a range of traditional dishes, while the warm, attentive service and welcoming, family vibe draw many diners back, and the BYOW option helps balance the value, even though weekend busy times can slow service.

It was our first time there, & everything was excellent. The staff were very polite, friendly, & well-dressed. It was a cozy place for families, & they offered a variety of dishes, including Persian kebabs. Most of us ordered koobideh kebab, which was very soft & delicious. One of us ordered soltani kebab, & it was also incredibly tender. All the food was very tasty, but I didn't like the rice, & the tahdig (crispy rice) had become soft.

The waiter made an interesting suggestion: instead of a full portion of rice, she offered to serve half rice & half salad, which was a good idea. The soup was also very tasty. The prices were average - neither expensive nor cheap. There were enough parking spaces available. The restroom was clean. The dining area was also clean, the tables were tidy, & everything was neatly set.

I recommend that the restaurant owner provide napkins on the tables to make the setting a bit more elegant, & consider changing the rice. I strongly recommend visiting this place.
