A true Mile End gem! Serrano Bar-B-Q has been doing one thing exceptionally well for over 40 years, & our visit made it obvious why locals love this place.
The chicken & pork sandwiches were incredible. The rotisserie chicken sandwich is everything it's hyped to be. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, & served on a soft round Portuguese bun that soaks up all that flavor. The crispy pork sandwich was just as good, tender with those crackly edges that make it irresistible. Simple, unpretentious, & honestly some of the best sandwiches in Montreal. Pro tip: ask them to add a ladle of the chicken broth for extra juiciness…total game changer.
It's a tiny counter spot, easy to walk right past, but that's part of the charm. The staff are warm & welcoming, the prices are very fair, & the whole experience feels like a neighbourhood classic that's earned its reputation honestly.
If you're hunting for the best chicken sandwich in Montreal or a great cheap eats spot in Mile End, Serrano Bar-B-Q is a must visit. Five stars, no hesitation, I'll be back.
Love this place. Been coming for years. Got a whole chicken for dinner. Although it was fall off the bone, it was surprisingly dry & quite salty. It's not usually dry, maybe it was a bad day. The potatoes were bang on though! (Tip: get the potatoes at dinner time; at lunch I find that they hadn't had the time to soak up the chicken goodness & get all soft). I really appreciate that they don't ask for tip at the debit terminal. I respect that.
Le sandwich au poulet du Serrano est une carte cachée de Montréal. Seul les locaux savent vraiment le goût de ce très bon poulet. Si les touristes arrivent.... Hahaha!!! Ce ne sera plus un secret pour personne. Excellent établissement.
I've been coming here for two decades, sadly today might have been the last time. The quality & service has gone down steadily for the last year or so. If you enjoy a mouthful of cartilage, bones, & fat with every other bite then this is the perfect chicken sandwich for you.
N'essayez pas les 100 aine de planques à poulet qui ouvrent dans le quartier & qui sont hors de prix. C'est ici la meilleure adresse. Plusieurs options abordables. Sandwichs généreux & délicieux (au poulet ou au porc), poulet entier. & le tout à bon prix. En plus, ils n'ajoutent pas d'option pourboire sur le terminal.

I came here 8 years ago & fell in love with the juicy pork sandwich with the cracklings. I'm back here again & it hasnt changed. Still the same, crackling, juicy & balanced out with coleslaw.
The best sandwich of your life! they serve chicken OR pork sandwiches. They prepare it like - pollo a la barbacoa - Peruvian style. A must try in the Mile end.
