I've been coming here for two decades, sadly today might have been the last time. The quality & service has gone down steadily for the last year or so. If you enjoy a mouthful of cartilage, bones, & fat with every other bite then this is the perfect chicken sandwich for you.
The best sandwich of your life! they serve chicken OR pork sandwiches. They prepare it like - pollo a la barbacoa - Peruvian style. A must try in the Mile end.
The bread was really good ,soft inside, a nice crust outside, & it felt homemade (which is always a win).
For the protein, I went all in: chicken breast, thighs, & sausage. They were well-seasoned, & the homemade sauce tied them together nicely.
The toppings, though, were pretty basic ...salad, tomatoes, coleslaw, & more of that homemade sauce. They tasted good, but nothing that really stood out. During summer it's way too hot to eat inside . Overall 8/10

Mile End is rich in chicken options, from Portuguese to southern fried to kebabs... but Serrano is a no-frills takeout homestyle classic, & with its Peruvian rub (secret family recipe!) its tender rotisserie chicken stands alone. Absolutely hands-down the best chicken in the neighbourhood. Prices have spiked in recent years, but it's still totally worth it!

This lowkey rotisserie spot is not very polished but is standing on a 40+ year legacy that keeps customers coming. Honestly it kind of reminded me of the Portugese rotisserie spots I used to eat at in North York, Ontario with it's down-homey atmosphere. Menu is focused on sandwiches & plates featuring their expertly prepared meats. I went for the chicken breast sandwich, which was packed with a nice portion of meat. I was impressed by how nicely the sandwich held together despite it's size, it was expertly prepared. The price-to-portion ratio at this place is righteous, enough to wave off the lack of comfortable seating. Service was good too.
The chicken sandwich is delicious, filling & healthy. The workers are friendly & efficient. The only little thing is the bone left in the sandwich, but it's not a big qualm. Overall, great place!
Serrano Bar-B-Q has been a Mile End institution for 40 years, & for good reason. They are best-known for their roasted chicken sandwiches, but the sausage sandwich & the roasted pork ribs/belly are my personal favorites.
The food isn't fancy or trendy, but it's delicious, reasonably priced, & the staff are very welcoming. If that sounds good to you, then I highly suggest stopping by!
