Brandon made the experience great because of his friendly personality & superb customer service! The food was quick to get served. Personally, I found the smoked meat sandwich a little lacking in flavor.
A classic "must visit" Montreal spot! The smoked meat sandwich was delicious, however slightly disappointed in how small it was considering the price. But it's absolutely worth trying out regardless! There's pretty much always a line for dine in or takeout, the takeout line moves steadily & I waited about 15mins for the sandwich
Had the smoked meat sandwich the meat was delish & the thickness of the meat was good too, good amount of mustard & slice of bread was a good size too, noticed though over the years they have continually shrunk the size of the sandwich & for what you get for the price now it's not even close to being worth it to get a sandwich from here, they literally give you one slice of rye bread cut in half & plop down an inch of meat on it & charge you 25 dollars, at least a few years ago they would give you 2 slices of bread for the same price
Vastly overrated. Had a sandwich but could barely eat it. Very fatty. Don't bother.
I had time for exactly one meal in Montreal, & this is the place I chose. If you thought NY Pastrami is good, wait till you try the brisket at Schwartz's, much much better! The smokiness, the seasoning, the tenderness beats anything I had in NY. Expect a line even before opening, & know that there is an "express" option for takeout with a shorter line but the same great food.
After travelling from New York & trying Katz deli I had to try this place & I was not disappointed. Great service, great price & amazing sandwich. Would definitely recommend
viande très sèche sans trop de goût avec beaucoup de morceau de graisse. Point positif, sandwich bien garni.
It is a 5-star rating on everything except for the fact the tiny space for a huge number of fans from all-over that crave the Montreal smoked meat they serve. No doubt the food is one of the best out there, but lining up (in sun & showers) hours? Of course, we love lining up but please, the people lines even interfere with the bus 🚌 stop a few steps away. Someone will get hurt sooner or later, & so I'll just say it, open another store. Please!!! Okay, but it's worth the wait & exposure to elements.
Great Jewish deli with delicious smoked meat sandwiches. You will leave feeling full! The lines for the sit-down restaurant can be huge, so if you don't feel like waiting there's a separate take away section with a much faster line. Also, make sure you bring cash!
Used to be the best place for food in the city IMO. Returned after a few years ready to devour a meal I was looking forward to for a while only to find that they've dramatically reduced their portions (the poutine specifically). The first photo is the before, the second one is the after. They've kept the same price but are now giving much smaller portions & thinner slices of meat. The meat is still great, but now I'd argue it's just far too expensive unless you just have money to blow.
The best smoked meat I ever had! You need to get it at least once! I even took some spices to try to make it at home.
Amazing Service & Honesty!! Being one of the iconic places to eat in Montreal, I paid a visit to taste their iconic food. I do not consume beef, so went in to try their other sandwiches. The waitress that attended us, was very patient & clearly explained the meat that goes into each of the sandwiches. I ordered a salami sandwiche, where she pointed out that it's Beef Salami( I was assuming, it's Pork). She also explained that this restaurant does not serve pork due to its founding principles, & was very Frank about the turkey sandwich just being a regular cold cut sandwich. Many thanks to the waitress & the restaurant for fostering the culture to put customer satisfaction & food at their top priority.
La poutine est immonde je suis super déçue cependant la charcuterie est assez bonne. Passez votre chemin pour la poutine pas bon du tout
Discovered this place +10 years. Since then became my favorite place in MTL. Lucky enough to bring my kid from Paris to create legacy.
This place is overrated.... The service was excellent! But the food left much to desire. The meat melts in your mouth but it lacks flavour & it didn't taste smoky at all. The sandwiches are meh, very little effort just a bunch of meat some mustard & some white bread. We didn't wait long for a table but you are seated with strangers so it's not the most comfortable spot...
If you are in Montreal, this is one of the places you NEED to visit! The atmosphere is unique & it feels almost like you are travelling back in time. The smoked meat is so juicy & tender & full of flavour. It literally melts in your mouth. Service is really great & pretty quick, the prices are absolutely OK. Really absolutely nothing to complain about here. The whole experience is just awesome. Especially as a European, this is nothing you will find back home, so take the opportunity & visit this place, while you're here! Next time I have to try their Poutine, because it looked absolutely mouthwatering. P.S. In case you are wondering, card payments are accepted, even if this place looks vintage ;)
