Cette expérience en grilladerie est incomparable… Le restaurant Rib’n Reef, qui peut se vanter de la gloire de ses 50 fructueuses années d’existence, apporte maintenant la touche de modernisme et de flamboiement de la véritable restauration de grand luxe.
Dès son arrivée, on a droit au service de voiturier puis, à l’intérieur, au service courtois et attentionné aux quatre coins de sa table. Le menu diversifié met à l’honneur le bœuf nourri au grain, bœuf de première qualité approuvé USDA, vieilli et fraîchement coupé chaque jour, un appétissant assortiment de poissons frais, de fruits de mer et de homard, tous apprêtés à la perfection.
Rib 'N Reef est perçu comme une expérience haut de gamme mêlant cadre élégant et lounge pour cigares, avec un service largement salué et une ambiance sophistiquée. Les avis restent toutefois mixtes sur le rapport qualité-prix: certains estiment que le coût est justifié par la qualité des viandes et des plats, tandis que d'autres trouvent les steaks parfois durs ou mal assaisonnés et certains accompagnements insuffisants. This is the first time I've decided to write a review about this restaurant. We don't come here often, but over the past 25 years we've visited multiple times. The service & the quality of the food have remained consistently high throughout the years.
Our waiter was highly professional, very reserved, &, deservedly, a bit arrogant 😁 His face clearly showed a mix of impatience & condescension toward a very curious (& slightly demanding) guest who kept asking for things☺
The steak, the octopus, & everything else were delicious. However, one question still lingers in the air…
The Caesar salad I ordered as an appetizer was prepared right in front of me in a large bowl, with all the ingredients mixed together.....it was quite mesmerizing to watch. If not for one detail: our waiter brought everything over, set it up, & proceeded to mix the salad with his bare hands...no gloves. After that, he plated it & carried everything back, at the same time picking up dirty dishes from nearby tables😁🥳🤦?♀?
We were one of the first to discover Rib & Reef when it first opened, i moved out of town for a few yrs & visited tonight
The pricing is egregious, the steaks were tough & chewy, the caesar salad made both of us sick so not sure if eggs were fresh. They went from mouth watering food to average & below average food at 5x the price. Terrible experience & definitely not worth the price. 122 dollars for a rib steak, of average quality?

It's usually so much better! We aren't weekly regulars, more like three or four times a year, with the family, twice a year in a big group, but this was by far a surprising disappointment.
Went New Years Eve before the gala. The steaks across the board were tough & charred. Same atmosphere, same awesome service, great drinks, the bisque & wedge salad were all great.
But the filets, sirloin & rib steak were all tough. Overbooked? Rushed? New chef? I dunno, but the five of us spent 1200.00 for dinners. At over 100.00 per steak, it should have been better.
We won't go back for a while.
The owner said he/she didn't see my name on the reservation list but didn't address my concerns.
That's because the reservation was made by my partner, in her name.
I ordered a rib steak, rare, it came medium. I sent it back they apologized & brought me a new one. It was still cold in the middle... I complained again & they took the same piece & over cooked it. I lost my appetite, I didn't eat the steak & I was still charged for it. Other than that the cesar salad, beef tartare & the sommeliers wine suggestion were fantastic. Ill be back but I was unimpressed with the steak.
Great experience! Excellent food, ambiance & especially service! You pay for all the quality this restaurant offers! From opening doors, to pulling out my chair, providing warm hand cloths, to preparing the cesar salad in front of you.. all of it is 5 star! Will definitely be back!!!
The place is beautiful, & they make great use of their space. It feels like stepping back in time, when dining was an acitivity reserved for the affluent. I suspect that the steak was not dried & salted prior to cooking, so don't expect any crust & ensure to season at the table. The lunch special is worth it. Spent $100 & got 5 decent plates (3 oysters, salad, baked potato, cake, coffee). The atmosphere made up for the lack of depth in the food, & the service was impeccable. I'll be back, perhaps to try their cigar lounge.
Was looking forward to going since i had heard so many good things, unfortunately i wS disappointed.
First the bread they gave us seemed stale…not warm…
The cole slaw & pickles nice touch.
Ordered Cesar salad for 2… didn't enjoy it something in the salad was leaving a bad taste in my mouth…didn't finish it.
Ordered a medium Filet mignon….didn't get what i ordered bleedy red…didn't want to complain but i couldn't it was too bloody our waiter agreed & had the kitchen cook it a little more…it was tasteless & tough…didn't like it.
Ordered the fries got potato wedges which were not completely cooked.
Asparagus were tasty.
No wine, no cocktails, no dessert …cost us 325$ with tax & tip.
Service was good but food 👎sorry will not return nor recommend.

At the price we pay you would expect excellent service & food. Rockefeller oysters & potato was excellent but salad had too much mustard & steak was overcooked. As for the waiter we had to call him a few times ro the table for service. Bill for 2 people was 600$
Great food, I liked the seasoning on the tartare, delicious cesar salad & desserts. If you want a good restaurant & nice decor & ambiance & great food, this is the place for you. They deserve a 10/10. However, I do believe the prices are too high for what they offer, there are other good steakhouses with similar options & taste. But keep in mind it is high-end (valet, coat check, personalized experience, etc.) so I understand why some people would pay these prices.
New in Montreal my GF wanted to try a steakhouse & this place didn't disappoint at all. I think anytime we are in MTL this will be our go to. Their Caesar Salad was prepared in-front of us. Roasted Beef with baked potatoes. Everything hit different & now I can go back to Toronto in peace & with satisfaction.

Ce soir c'était notre première fois au rib n reef & nous n'avons pas été déçu de notre expérience. L'accueil, le concept était excellent mais que dire de la nourriture , la salade césar préparé à votre table la côte de boeuf (tout simplement la meilleure jamais manger) & le gâteau au fromage wow. Mention spéciale à notre serveur Patrick qui a été formidable il a su nous conseiller a merveille & Kyle le gérant à veillé à ce que tout soit à point . Déjà hâte d'y retourner.
Rib & reef overall was good! The atmosphere was great. Table side service ceaser salad & Tatar which adds to the atmosphere. Overall service was exceptional however it took a long time to get all our food. Steak was good & cooked perfectly. Not the best steakhouse in Montreal but an overall a good experience nonetheless. You can get something comparable at a much cheaper cost. There is also a cigar lounge upstairs which adds to the atmosphere.
Onion soup was a disaster.very salty & not a great cheese.Soft drinks over priced at $6.00 a drink. Tea $5.00. Sides over priced for quantity. Baked potato & fries enough for two people but not worth 32 dollars. Roast beef was very tasty but the amount was small for a 14 oz portion. Veal was tasty but pasta needed more cooking. Beautiful presentation of Caesar salad. & quite tasty.but not cheap.

Very good service! The waiters were so nice! The steal was great & the caeser salad was made perfectly. The best caeser salad ever! All the appetizers were great too. & the atmosphere is very romantic.
Je suis allé deux fois récemment & je suis assez déçue. C'est vraiment plus comme avant. Le service est toujours impeccable par contre la nourriture n'est plus aussi bonne qu'avant dommage. La viande est bien. La salade cesar c'etait une de mes preferes j'ai été déçue les deux dernieres fois
Restaurant: 6/10, cigar lounge 8/10 My review is focused on the restaurant. Ordered the Caesar salad for the table (10/10 delicious) & the sirloin surf & turf with lobster tail. For the prices that they are charging, they really should have nailed the cook temp of both the steak & the lobster tail. My steak was overdone & under seasoned, while the lobster tail was quite good. Bathrooms are extremely cramped. Overall, not worth the money. This is like a fancy restaurant for people that don't know what a good restaurant is.
If you want to be treated like royalty, this is the place. They prepare the salad & the crepes in front of you. The food is phenomenal & the wine cellar very impressive. From the valet parking & all the staff, everyone is very professional.
