It's rare these days to find restaurants who put love into the art of cooking & fortunately, Shamdooni does this right. Food is exceptional. What's even more impressive is the quality of food for the price. A gem in the heart of Montreal to be discovered & hopefully, continuing to thrive.
The waiter was exceptional. Thank you for letting me try the homemade bread & tea. You have done Iran proud.
Authentic fresh Iranian dishes served in very generous portions, staff is very polite & welcoming, loved my Experience here👍
What a hidden gem. We were licking our fingers after
The Dizi was heavenly delicious & we fought over the Baghali Polo
Keep it up
This restaurant has that small, cozy & family affair type of place! Service is good. Overall food is good but not a 4.9. Mirza gazhemi & ash was very good. Kobideh was good too but the joojeh wasn't that great, it lacked a bit of flavour. Other dishes like tachin & gheymeh were also good but not a 4.9/5. Overall food is good but if you are used to Iranian cuisine, you might be a tad disappointed! & prices are decent for 2026!
Le kaleh pacheh était très délicieux, & le service ainsi que l'attitude du personnel étaient excellents & très respectueux👏🏻
I ordered a Koobideh dish, it was terrible, I have had many koobideh's in my life & this one was by far the worst.
1- the Scewer sizes were very small
2- The Koobideh had a yellow colour in it which I think was due to Turmeric in it, Koobideh recipes never call for Turmeric!
3- The onion portion to ground beef was not proper!
The waiter was very kind & polite.
We went to Shamdooni & honestly-this place absolutely nailed it. They serve traditional Persian dizi the way it's meant to be done. Everything from the food to the service felt authentic, generous, & full of heart.
For the price, you get an incredible amount of food & an even bigger dose of genuine Persian hospitality. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, & the whole experience feels real-not commercialized, not rushed. Just honest, comforting food.
I'm saying this as someone who comes from Toronto, where there's no shortage of places serving dizi, so the competition is real. & still-this was by far one of the best dizi experiences I've had in a long time. It genuinely reminded me of home.
If you're in Montreal & looking for proper dizi & an authentic Persian experience, I'd 100% recommend Shamdooni without hesitation.
Amazing food & even more amazing people!
The food was absolutely delicious, but what impressed me even more was the kindness of the owner & the whole staff. I tried to place an order through Uber, but it didn't work. It was Christmas Eve, & the owner was so incredibly nice that he personally delivered the food to us himself. That level of care & hospitality is truly rare.
Wishing you endless success - you absolutely deserve it!
Everyone was excited to try Persian food & everyone was satisfied with happy stomachs ! We enjoyed the ambiance so much - quiet & relaxing :)
It was perfect , the best Persian cuisine in Montreal. ❤?❤?❤?🙏 really appreciate your service
The atmosphere wasn't great & the wait time was long but the food was delicious.
I order food from shamdooni almost twice a week, I've almost tried every item on the menu. love it there.
Excellent food! The kebab was delicious & the Iranian rice was perfectly cooked with great quality. They were busy, so the service was a bit slower, but overall a great experience.
This was a great find. The food was outstanding - ordered the lunch combo which was a delicious Ash-e Reshteh soup & Koobideh sandwich. The soup was filled with a delicious blend of fresh flavours & the Koobideh was also excellent. The prices are affordable & the service was very friendly. The place is newly opened & still needs some attention to decor, but that's a small detail when the food is so good!!
I visited this restaurant about two weeks ago for take-out. The girl at the front told me it would take 10 minutes… it ended up taking 40 minutes while I just sat there waiting at 11pm. I decided to give it another chance a few nights ago with my family. Although the food itself is good, the service is very slow & not professional.
When we arrived, the server greeted us coldly. While taking our order; even though we clearly ordered kebab & khoresh for each person, he kept asking'with rice?' … like of course. It took about 20 minutes just for him to bring a piece of bread to start, another 20 minutes for a simple soup, & then finally the food. The restaurant wasn't even full, so it's not like there were too many orders.
The kebab arrived cold, but fine, whatever. What really bothered us is that the server never came to check on us a single time, not to ask if everything was okay, not to refill our water, nothing. We even had to chase him down to get the bill. After paying (& tipping!), he didn't even say thank you or goodbye. Just took the money & walked away.
Service gets a 0 from me. Food is okay, but expect to wait a long time.
We enjoyed the ghorme sabji, chicken fesenjan, & the ash-e reshteh. Very good compared to other restaurants. Thank you! 😋
