Review Summary

L'Avenue is widely celebrated as a premier brunch destination in Montreal, consistently praised for its creative, flavorful menu and remarkably generous portions that often leave guests feeling thoroughly satisfied. Visitors frequently highlight the eclectic variety of dishes, with standout items like the Indecisive menu section, creative pancakes, and indulgent French toast options. While the restaurant is extremely popular, often resulting in a wait time for tables, the vibrant atmosphere, unique and funky decor, and friendly, attentive staff contribute to a memorable dining experience. Despite occasional observations regarding the busy environment or volume, many diners emphasize that the quality of the meal and the overall hospitality make the experience well worth the visit.

We came on a Saturday around 12:30 p.m. & waited about 30 minutes for a table for four, which honestly isn't unusual for L'Avenue. We didn't mind the wait because we were really looking forward to having their delicious food.

Unfortunately, the service once we were seated was extremely slow. It took a long time for someone to come & take our order. We ordered two Americanos, one cappuccino, & four meals. I completely understand that food takes time to prepare, especially when a restaurant is busy, but three simple coffee orders taking about 45 minutes was frustrating. Our food actually arrived before our drinks.

That said, our server was great, very kind & pleasant. I don't think the issue was with them personally. It really seemed like the restaurant was understaffed & the team was stretched too thin. I think having more staff on busy weekends would make a huge difference, because the food is great & we otherwise enjoy coming here.

Their portions are huge, easily enough for two people. Overall, it's a nice spot for brunch, but I don't think it's worth the long wait in line.

Side note: Be sure to check out their washrooms!

Best Breakfast I ever had. Period full stop. portion sizes were huge & match the prices perfectly. You don't really see that that often anymore. The staff was friendly & the vibe was funky. We loved it!! A Montreal must visit.

L'Avenue's menu was eclectic & my husband & I's choices were both wins!! I had the Sweet & savory croque madame which was sooo good & nothing like I've ever had before. Also had a hojicha latte which just perfect. The hubs had the Royal Caviar & Smoked salmon omelette which also super yummy! Portions are huge & shareable. So come hungry. The atmosphere was fun & inviting & staff were all friendly & adorable in their Dickies overalls!!

Ordered pancakes - honestly delicious, huge portion. Asked for a takeaway box so I could pack it myself, but the server confidently insisted on doing it for me.

Fast forward to the next morning when I'm craving my leftover pancakes, only to discover I was gifted someone else's meal instead.

a fully wrapped bag with zero labels, zero confirmation from the confident server, & a fun little guessing game about whose food belongs to whom, nice work.

Small eatery with a great vibe. We had a reservation so seating was quick, otherwise there is a huge line up to this place. The shakshuka with toasted multigrain bread was very filling & the portions are generous. I requested for the dish without eggs. The other dish was tuna, eggs scrambled on a toast. Tonno Italiano
Italian tuna in olive oil complimented with Sicilian flavors, served on a salad drizzled with a marinated onion. My friend complimented the dish a lot about its flavors that it was very unique. The serving was quite generous. Michael helped us with recommendations for coffee. We got hazelnut latte & pistachio latte. The hazelnut was a good recommendation.overall good value for money. Road side parking is a pain but we were lucky to get a free parking as it was a Sunday.
