Review Summary

Restaurant Impérial is frequently praised for its generous portions, authentic flavors, and fresh Dim Sum, making it a popular destination in the West Island. Many diners appreciate the convenient location, the abundance of free parking, and the efficient ordering system that utilizes QR codes. While many reviews highlight the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere, there are inconsistent experiences regarding service quality, with some patrons reporting long wait times, reservation issues, and difficulties with staff responsiveness. Although opinions on pricing and service consistency vary, it remains a go-to spot for many seeking quality Chinese cuisine and a welcoming space for large group gatherings.

I've visited this restaurant several times for breakfast & dim sum, but today was my first time trying it for supper with my son. The menu was different, & it wasn't through the phone app-instead, it was a large, physical book. I asked for help because there were a few dishes I was interested in, but the staff member in the dining area explained the options in a rushed, unclear way.

When I tried to process what I wanted to order, he immediately told me to order quickly & was rude about it, giving me no chance to think. The attitude was completely unnecessary.

We left & went to another place in the same mall, where the service was excellent-so different from what we experienced here. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.

This restaurant proves that Google reviews should not always be blindly followed. We visited for Dim Sum on the advice of friends & family, & it is well worth the 20 km drive to the West Island. This is further away than Chinatown, but has plenty of parking available.

The food is amazing & made to order, unlike the pre-prepared dishes found at traditional dim sum places. Due to long lineups on Sundays, I suggest arriving within 45 minutes of opening. If you miss that window, arrive 60 minutes later, once the first wave of diners has finished.
?Do not expect top-notch service; the staff is extremely busy.

The pic shows the line up outside, but there are about another 50 people waiting inside the restaurant.

Very nice chinese restaurant with dishes from multiple provinces. Seen a lots of weterns people enjoyinh their meal there, pretty rare for a Chinese restaurant to achieve that (about half of customers are westerns people). Meals come in large portion, didnt really expect that much amount at the price they give

Food is always good here. Unfortunately, not good enough to make up for the extremely poor customer service. We made a reservation for a large group of people; however, the staff let us know only upon my group's arrival that they'lost' our reservation & that we had to wait. Another staff member told us that they had our reservation but that they were so busy with other customers they couldn't keep it for us… I think they can't handle the lunch rush… Despite this, my group was patient because the staff did seem very busy & overwhelmed, so we overlooked this & waited for half an hour rather than going somewhere else. I wish we had decided to take our business elsewhere because the next issue arose when it came time to pay for our bill. Several staff members came to our table to search for the small piece of paper they use to track the dishes they served our table, despite having a QR code system… some even moved our belongings to search around them… Luckily my group normally keeps our own receipt of what we order so as to avoid being overcharge (we took a screenshot of what we ordered through their online system). We offered this to the staff but they insisted they needed the paper in order to pay & wouldn't let us leave. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation that seemed totally unnecessary. They eventually agreed to rely on our screenshot that we took of our order but they gave us a LOT OF ATTITUDE.

Needless to say, the staff treat their customers like garbage. Although the food definitely could be worth the wait, the poor service is definitely not worth your hard earned money & self-respect.

Unfortunately, I won't be returning. While the food was good, the service was very disappointing.
When we arrived for our reservation, we were told it had been lost. We were a group of 12, including elderly guests & small children, & ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes. The host insisted the entire group needed to be present-which we were-but the entrance was crowded with other guests waiting, & the situation felt very disorganized for such a large restaurant.
The second issue occurred when it was time to pay. The staff began searching frantically for a small piece of paper they said was necessary to process our bill. It was likely cleared away with the dishes, but it's hard to understand why this paper was so critical, especially since we had ordered through their QR code system. There should have been an electronic record of our order.
Despite showing them a screenshot of the bill from the QR system, they would not allow us to leave until the paper was found. They even asked us to'check under the table' & go through our belongings to help locate it. Why not just print a copy?
Overall, the experience lacked professionalism, organization, & efficiency.

If you're aiming to eat big without worrying about going to the bathroom in the next hour, this is it. Chinese food in my opinion taste a tad bit too salty but the Imperial chefs serves their dishes with just the right amount. Friendly staff as well. Would commend for large groups. & THE ANIME PLAYING ON THE WALLS. *CHEF'S KISS*

Had a good experience at Imperial Dim Sum. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, & came out hot. Service was smooth & the place felt comfortable. Prices are a bit higher than other dim sum spots, but the quality is there. Still a nice treat once in a while.

Dim Sum is a great way to catch up with friends. It's a meal that can last a few hours while you eat small bites. Only issue, this place does not serve small bites. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's good. The only thing is you dont have as much of a selection.
We ordered 5 different dishes.
1) #103- Sticky Rice with Chicken, Pork & Shrimp. You get 2 in an order. They are huge & delicious with a hidden surprise in the middle. Would I order it again? Absolutely.
2) #109- BBQ Pork Bao. You get 3 in an order. They too are huge. Light & fluffy with a tiny bit of sweet BBQ pork in the middle. Would I order it again? Probably Not.
3) #120- Shrimp & Scallop Dumplings. Here you get 4 bite size pieces. Stuffed with seafood goodness. Would I order it again? 💯
4) #102- SiuMai. You get 4 huge ones in an order. Loaded with a mix of juicy pork & shrimp with a thin wrapper hugging the filling. Would I order it again? Yes.
5) #301- Rice Pasta Roll with Fried Shrimp. Two cut up rolls were in the ordere. OMG. This was the best dish we ordered. The rice pasta was filled with a tempura type fried shrimp & there were some kind of a deep fried thin thin noodle inside as well & all was covered in a light soya sauce. Would I order it again? 1000%
Now for the rest...the decor is simple. Mostly large tables but they do have ones for 2's & 4's.
The process is simple. You place your order on the website, the waiter will explain what to do, once you scan the QR code provided with your table number. Then, using g a rolling cart, your foodbis delivered. Not all at the same time, but that's OK. You dont want your food to get cold.
Because the restaurant is so large, we were not rushed to vacate our table. We sat & were able to digest.
By the way, when you sit down, you are immediately served a big potion delicious tea.
Would I go back for Dim Sum? Absolutely. Would I try the traditional Chinese food? Not sure
sure
