Review Summary

Across numerous reviews, Renzo Sandwich is described as a standout Montreal spot for big, hearty subs made with fresh bread and generous fillings. Lovers of the place praise the bold flavors and solid balance in classics like the Philly cheesesteak, mortadella artichoke, roast beef Italian, cubano, the Renzo chicken, and the turkey club, though some sandwiches vary in quality and notes about too much sauce or underseasoned meat appear. The bread is repeatedly highlighted as crusty and soft, a big factor in the overall positive impression, and portions are noted as substantial, sometimes massive. The vibe is warm and retro, and service is often fast and friendly, with takeout a strong option for busy days, though peak times can mean waits or crowded seating. Value is seen as fair to high given portion size and ingredients, with many calling it the best sandwich spot in Montreal, while a few feel certain items miss the mark and the atmosphere cannot fully compensate. Desserts such as tiramisu and key lime pie receive praise and add to the overall experience. Taken together, the reviews present Renzo as a must-try destination that excites aficionados, while acknowledging occasional inconsistency and practical downsides like seating limits and service during rushes.

Decent sandwhich, not great. Fresh ingredients & good balance. However the flavour is lacking, the lettuce should have dressing on it. The bread definitely needs improvement, its too crusty & dry. The vibe & decor inside is nice. If they fix the bread & add seasoning & dressing to the veggies, it has potential to be a top sandwhich spot in montreal, but for now, Bossa is still king.

Decent sandwich, except the bread was definitely not fresh. The person manning the counter called the orders / names out in a very quiet voice & let your sandwich just sit on the counter when you didn't hear them. In my opinion, they did a poor job at this very simple task.

But the sandwich is still good, in spite of the hard/old bread. Worth a visit if you're around, but not worth a dedicated trip.

It was our first time, we had the porchetta & it was tasty & fresh, fast service as well, don't miss the house artisanal beer, it hits the point!

This place kind of reminded me of BOSSA in Verdun. Different vibe & sandwich options though. I ordered the Turkey Club & it was gooooood. The sandwich was hefty, filled with delicious fresh ingredients. & the bread was really nice too! Crunchy crust with a nice soft body. As Arnie said,'I'll be back!'

On the plus side, they have at least two vegetarian options. However, be ready to like olives if you take the végé sub! It's so powerfu l that in a sandwich with at least ten other ingredients, it's impossible to pick any other. & if you get a lucky bite, it's honestly pretty tasteless, which is surprising with those peppers & onions.

On the plus side, service is nice & quick & the ingredients seemed all quite fresh. But if you don't eat meat there are better Italian options in the city for cheaper.

If I lived here, I'd be here every week.

Tasted amazing - whatever the sauce was in the classic was unreal.

The roast beef & tomatoe sandwiches left much to be desired. Both were underseasoned, with the bread feeling plain & uninspired, & an overwhelming amount of lettuce that detracted from the overall flavour. The roast beef was at least cooked well, size was decent & price was good.

The atmosphere initially piqued my interest, offering a unique vibe, but that excitement quickly faded once the disappointing flavour of the sandwiches became apparent.

To top it off, the chocolate chip cookie was a major letdown - dry & stale, it lacked the freshness & gooey texture you'd expect. It's surprising how such a simple classic can be mishandled so thoroughly.

Overall, the experience fell short of expectations on both taste & execution.

Very disappointing. Not horrible, but disappointing. I ordered the italian roast beef. The bread itself was fresh & delicious however there was so much unseasoned shredded lettuce that it made my entire sandwich flavorless. The meat was also cold which isn't what comes to mind when you order a roast beef sandwich. My friends enjoyed their Renzo Sandwich, the chicken was crunchy, however also mentioned it was under seasoned. They said of all, the Philly Cheesesteak was the best.

New sandwich place in the neighborhood! It seems to be a trend lately but I'm not complaining, I love a good sandwich. This place has a cool retro, hipster vibe. Not much seating (only 4 booths of 2 & a counter top for 6 people), but there is lots of places to eat outside. I got the chicken Cesar & the ingredients were very fresh, the chicken juicy, & the bread airy & not too tough. I wish the chicken had a bit more seasoning or that they added a bit more sauce. Overall the sandwich's was really good but missing a bit of kick. My boyfriend got the chicken buffalo & it was very tangy! I loved the mix of flavours of the buffalo sauce with the chicken & the pickles. The sauce was a bit too sour for me but I had a couple of bites & it was good!

I would definitely come back since it's so close to Kem Coba & it's the perfect meal + dessert combo!

We visited Renzo's as part of our Montreal Sandwich Challenge & it was the perfect way to kick things off! 🥪 The sandwich was absolutely delicious - packed with flavor & super fresh ingredients. We loved the Italian-inspired touches like mortadella with a unique Montreal twist.
Eli ordered the Philly Cheesesteak & I got the Cubano. We loved the fresh ingredients, the crunchiness, bread, sandwich size, staff was very welcoming & helpful to make our choice.

Even though it's a small spot, it's clean & welcoming, with a cool retro vibe that makes it stand out. If you visit during the summer, you can even take your sandwich to one of the nearby parks & enjoy it outdoors - which we totally recommend!

Definitely worth the lineup. We'll be back to try more from the menu! Still in doubt, check out our vlog about this place.
