My kids & I wanted to try out chef John Mike's restaurant. We were not disappointed. A small place with a cool.vibe, amazing sandwiches. We tried the classic, the roast beef & the Caprese. All were delicious. The bread used is just perfect. I'll come back for sure!
My brother recommended me this place but I was a little disappointed. I tried the renzo sandwich & the chicken was dry & it looked like it was not freshly fried (dark brown cutlet). My brother did say it depends at what time you come in the day like at lunch time it was better (he goes there often). It is disappointing knowing that depending the time of day you go, you won't have the same quality of food & experience & it shouldn't be that way. I also tried the cheesesteak sandwich & the bread was soggy & it was ground beef with some yellow cheese like cheese whiz. The artichoke sandwich was really good & the italian sub as well. I'd like to come during the day see if there's any difference.
I'm giving it 3 stars cause it's not bad. But it's not good either, I think they deserve a 2.5 but google won't let me do halves so i'm being nice & rounding up. We had the caesar & the cheesesteak & the execution is good but you can tell the ingredients are rough.
The chicken in the caesar sandwich was almost-burnt & had no flavour besides the taste of the oil, it was very very oily & dark. The veggies in the caesar were rough. Flavourless mushy tomatoes & paper-y iceberg lettuce. The caesar dressing also had almost no taste besides that of oil, very bland. The cheesesteak was good but at the same time i feel like conceptually a cheesesteak is hard to mess up.
The quality of the beef was kind of odd though, it was very very very thin & reminded me of Steakumm beef sheets (the frozen kind if you know what i'm talking about) Cheese sauce was pretty good.
When I say execution i mean the craftsmanship. My veggie to chicken ratio in the caesar was great! The cheese to steak ratio was perfect. But the individual ingredients are sub-par at best. When you charge the same price as Bossa i expect something at least similar, this reminded me more of subway. Overall very disappointed by the quality of the sandwiches as the location is cool, the service is incredible, etc. Until they announce that they use new ingredients I won't be returning.
We stopped there by chance & I ordered Philly cheesesteak. Well, I understand that steak is so expensive these days, but that doesn't justify to use the lowest quality of beef to serve your customers, even the marinating tastes weird!
They'd rather remove Philly cheesesteak from the menu or rename the sandwich, or use real steak & higher the price.
However I will give another chance for other sandwiches but definitely not the so called Philly cheesesteak.
Magnifique comptoir a sandwich.
After watching an influencer's review, I decided to pay this establishment a visit. I ordered a no.2 (Philly Cheesesteak), a no.4 (Cubano), & a no.6 (Roast Beek Italian).
Staff is in-tune with one another like a well-oiled machine. They are respectful. They all make efforts to keep their work area clean. Bravo!
As stated on the menu, the Philly Cheesesteak is VERY messy. Delicious. Nowhere as good as the real Philly deal, mind you, but worthy.
The Cubano was meh. The mixture of ingredients didn't sit well with my tastebuds. It wasn't bad, no, but if I ever visit this place again, I won't be ordering it again.
The Roast Beef Italian was the best of all three sandwiches. The horseradish mayo wasn't my favorite, but at least I tried it & will know for next time.
Prices are reasonable as their sandwiches are LOADED with ingredients. Parking can be a real PITA so prepare yourself mentally before visiting this place.
I'm so glad to know about this place! I hope they are one of the places that will stay for a long long time! I saw a lot of complaints about the philly cheesesteak but I loved it! I do hope there's more onion that banana peppers tho. The poulet caesar was normal for me. I love the ambiance. I can't wait to go back & try the roast beef!
