Review Summary

Patati Patata comes across as a tiny, lively Montreal spot known for poutine and burgers, with squeaky cheese curds and flavorful gravy making the classic poutine a standout and burgers that many reviewers love. The menu is approachable, with vegetarian friendly options and takeout friendly combos, and portions are generous while prices stay reasonable. The vibe is cozy and unpretentious, with friendly, quick service by a small team, though busy times can bring longer waits or a more energetic atmosphere. The place is described as a true Montreal staple and a great late night option, popular for quick bites or casual meals, with several reviewers praising the value, consistency, and the chance to watch the food being prepared right in front of them. Overall, Patati Patata is celebrated for good comfort food, a friendly vibe, and strong poutine and burger offerings, even as a few guests note occasional service hiccups and crowded spaces.

Their classic poutine is good & enough for 1.5 meals in my opinion, cause how well they load it up.

Tried the classic poutine as this is one of the best places to get it. Loved the decor in the place which gives it real character.

As for the poutine, it s basically chips & gravy with cheese curds. Definately food after a few beers rather than a romantic table for two. I think there is no way you can get this wrong. There are other things on the menu but i d already eaten at schwatze s.

Overall defo give it a go.....

This is the ultimate in shabby-chic: it's good comfort food, in classic diner style with an edgy vibe. The poutine was delicious, the service was fast & friendly, & while it won't even get a Michelin star it will fill your belly & leave you happy!

Stopped by Patati Patata on a late-night whim, & honestly, we didn't know if we were about to have a life-changing snack or a soggy disappointment. The guy at the counter? Absolute legend. Chill, helpful, & somehow managed to explain the menu without making us feel like clueless tourists-bonus points for doing it fast enough that we could still get our kid back to bed on time.

Then we tried the poutine. My wife went classic, I went bacon. Even after the short trip back to the hotel, when they'd cooled down a bit, they were still incredible-we can only imagine how mind-blowing they must be fresh at the restaurant. The bacon leans salty (hello, flavor explosion), & the classic could use a pinch more salt… unless you're a purist, in which case it's perfect.

Pro tip: If you've been hypnotized by La Banquise hype online, break free & come here first. You'll thank us when you taste real Montreal poutine without the influencer line-up.

Had classic poutine, beef burger with cheese & bacon (extras), & a coke. Always loved their poutine, & it's still great. Burger was great as well. Good friendly service. Quick & easy turn around from ordering to meal as well.

Due to the size of establishment & its popularity, sometimes you might have to wait to get in if that's your plan. But it's worth.

Great food & service. & homey setting. We got the poutine classic, poutine with eggs & bacon, & grilled cheese with bacon.

I really can't say much about the famous Poutine, as I had the first one in my life here (it tasted pretty good!), but the burger (classic beef with bacon & cheese) was outstanding. Beers are fresh from the tab, service is really friendly, & the place surely has a vibe. It looks a bit rough at first, but catches you once you're sitting inside. Prices are more than fair - especially the burgers are perfectly reasonable. Overall a great place!

Every time I come here, I tell myself it's the last time... Yet I keep coming back. 5 stars for atmosphere & location 2 stars on food quality If you are looking for an excellent burger, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a classic late night Montreal experience...rock on! The burgers are below average, the poutine is average, & the fries are excellent.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place! A classic on Saint-laurent, the poutine with the olive is chef's kiss. One of my favourites in the city. The store is tiny so keep in mind this place is best suited for take out to eat in the park nearby. The burgers are also very good but on the smaller side so if you have a big appetite, get more than one. Service is very fast, they have to be since there's always a line to order & eat. Good prices for the quantity & quality of the food!

If you want a classic Steamy hot dog dont go here they gave me sliced hot dog on a hamburger bun with weird all dressed ingredients & when i told them it was a burger assuming it was the wrong order they told me its a hot dog... that is not a hot dog. Anyway if you're not picky (or autistic like myself) I would be careful with your selection... the only good thing is the drunk poutine after a late night. their iced tea has weird funky taste too. Anyway I wish i got a picture of this hot dog but if you go you'll know what im talking about.
