Review Summary

Reviews portray Pasticceria Alati-Caserta as a beloved Montreal staple for authentic Italian pastries, with cannoli, sfogliatelle, tiramisu and almond cakes repeatedly praised for crisp shells, creamy fillings and a broad, high-quality selection. Many describe the staff as friendly, attentive and helpful, adding that the bakery has a Naples-like charm and a welcoming atmosphere, though a few reports note occasional sour service or a day when staff seemed distracted. The cannoli emerge as a standout, often called the best in the city, along with other favorites like tiramisu, eclairs, marzipan cookies and lemon granita; some reviewers mention the pastry variety and freshness as consistently strong and the shop as a go-to for celebrations and gifts, including custom cakes. A minority express disappointment with specific items such as cornetti or zeppole, citing dryness, excessive sweetness or oiliness, and a few point to price, lines or inconsistent quality over time. Overall, Pasticceria Alati-Caserta is viewed as a must-visit destination for authentic Italian pastries in Montreal, balancing tradition and quality with occasional fluctuations in service or flavor.

Delicious cannoli!! 4.50$ each for the one shown with ricotta. They also have cannolis with butter cream filling & many different flavours. Can't wait to go back!

Sadly the quality declined significantly. People have been enamoured with the idea of going to this bakery, however, it's become some cheap imitation. Why is it so expensive for a place with such low-quality offerings? What's more concerning is the inconsistent customer service-some staff are dismissive, & interactions are racially biased. It's incredibly disappointing to experience this kind of behavior in 2025.

Les cannoli sont très bons, toujours frais, & avec un grand choix de saveurs. Le service est aussi excellent. Très gentille, elle m'a fait un cannoli à la demande pour une personne qui ne mange pas de gluten.

Everything looked amazing.

Split 5 mini cannolis between 2 people. Perfect amount for a sweet treat.

Favourites were the regular & the coconut.

If you're looking for the real taste of Italy in Montreal, you absolutely have to visit Pasticceria Alati-Caserta in Little Italy. After living in Montreal for a decade & trying countless bakeries, I can honestly say this is the gold standard for Italian pastries in the city.

The cannoli here are out of this world-crispy shells, filled to order with the creamiest ricotta filling (not too sweet, just right). I've brought friends from Italy, & even they were impressed! I also recommend trying their sfogliatelle & marzipan cookies-everything is made fresh & you can truly taste the quality. If you're celebrating something special, their custom cakes are beautifully made & always a hit.

The shop itself is charming & feels like stepping into a little corner of Naples. It can get busy, especially on weekends or around holidays, so be prepared for a bit of a line. But honestly, it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly & will happily help you choose if you're not sure what to try.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian desserts or wants to experience a true Montreal classic.

I recently visited this Italian pastry shop with high hopes, especially for their cannoli, which came highly recommended by social media & highly advertised. The shop has a tempting display of traditional Italian sweets. Seating area outside consists of a bench & picnic table. The lady who served us looked annoyed. Nothing personal, maybe she was having a bad day.
When it came to the cannoli, I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The ricotta filling tasted way too sweet for me & had a mix , I would say a tiny bit of ricotta & very buttery cream in the regular cannoli, the others cannolis had a creamy butter filling. It didn't have the richness or depth of flavor I was hoping for. It wasn't bad-it was just... okay.

That said, some of their other pastries tasted delicious & I'd be willing to give them another shot-just probably not for the cannoli.

Your best cannoli is probably at your local Italian bakery or paistry shop. Mine is!

Holy moly! I asked her for something with lots of chocolate in it, & this does not disappoint. This is the richest, densest dessert that I have ever eaten. The chocolate is so thick that the plastic spoon was bending. They did not overdo it on the sweetness either. The texture is like a truffle all of the way through, & even the crust is a nice chocolatey crumble.

It's the perfect energy boost to eat in the middle of a 70km Bixi tour.

This Italian bakery is an absolute gem! The cannolis are the real deal-crispy shells, rich & creamy filling, just like the ones in Italy. You can tell everything is made with love & tradition. Easily the best cannolis I've had outside of Sicily. A must-visit for any pastry lover!

Really wonderful bakery with lovely employees! Angelina assisted us with our selection, she was so helpful & patient since we asked A LOT of questions! We ultimately chose a few of the beautiful small pastries, two cannolis (original & hazelnut) as well as a bunch of cookies. Everything was delicious & we will definitely be going back to purchase a whole cake for our friend's birthday soon. Highly recommend this gem in Little Italy!
