Review Summary

Reviews portray Pasticceria Alati-Caserta as a beloved Montreal staple for authentic Italian pastries, with cannoli, sfogliatelle, tiramisu and almond cakes repeatedly praised for crisp shells, creamy fillings and a broad, high-quality selection. Many describe the staff as friendly, attentive and helpful, adding that the bakery has a Naples-like charm and a welcoming atmosphere, though a few reports note occasional sour service or a day when staff seemed distracted. The cannoli emerge as a standout, often called the best in the city, along with other favorites like tiramisu, eclairs, marzipan cookies and lemon granita; some reviewers mention the pastry variety and freshness as consistently strong and the shop as a go-to for celebrations and gifts, including custom cakes. A minority express disappointment with specific items such as cornetti or zeppole, citing dryness, excessive sweetness or oiliness, and a few point to price, lines or inconsistent quality over time. Overall, Pasticceria Alati-Caserta is viewed as a must-visit destination for authentic Italian pastries in Montreal, balancing tradition and quality with occasional fluctuations in service or flavor.

The best traditional Italian pastry shop in little Italy & their Zeppolees traditional or backed along with all other pastries are to die for, the staff are very friendly & nice.
We love that place.

Not sure what's going on with Alati. We bought some traditional zeppole yesterday & the pastry was very dry, they didn't taste fresh at all. Maybe they made a few days in advance? Anyway, we was very disappointed

Straight up, the worst pastry of my life. The coda d'Aragosta was as crusty as the attitude of the woman behind the counter.

I was strolling around Montreal's Little Italy & came across this amazing Italian pastry shop. The variety of dry & fresh pastries is incredible, with plenty of large cakes as well. I had an éclair, tiramisu, & a coffee - & honestly, it was the best éclair I've ever had.

Best canoli selection in town, they specialize in it. They have good variety of sweets & pastry. Eclair is to die for.

I recently visited this Italian pastry shop with high hopes, especially for their cannoli, which came highly recommended by social media & highly advertised. The shop has a tempting display of traditional Italian sweets. Seating area outside consists of a bench & picnic table. The lady who served us looked annoyed. Nothing personal, maybe she was having a bad day.
When it came to the cannoli, I have to admit I was underwhelmed. The ricotta filling tasted way too sweet for me & had a mix , I would say a tiny bit of ricotta & very buttery cream in the regular cannoli, the others cannolis had a creamy butter filling. It didn't have the richness or depth of flavor I was hoping for. It wasn't bad-it was just... okay.

That said, some of their other pastries tasted delicious & I'd be willing to give them another shot-just probably not for the cannoli.

Your best cannoli is probably at your local Italian bakery or paistry shop. Mine is!

This Italian bakery is an absolute gem! The cannolis are the real deal-crispy shells, rich & creamy filling, just like the ones in Italy. You can tell everything is made with love & tradition. Easily the best cannolis I've had outside of Sicily. A must-visit for any pastry lover!

Very nice pastry shop! We got the almond cake for nye. The cake was delicious, but very sweet. I definitely want to try their other cakes & other pastries. The best part is they sell the cakes in slices so you can try a slice before getting a full one.

Amazing pastry! Authentic Italian taste! We were visiting friends who live in this area, & got to enjoy some of these fine pastries. The almond cake was such a delicious treat for me, a nostalgic taste of the Italian bakeries in my own neighbourhood when I was young. The almond paste on the top was just such a delight! Cannolis were spot on. I tried the classic & my husband the pistachio. Wonderful & crisp & real cheese filling. we also really enjoyed the cream coffee! Very delightful in hot weather. Excellent taste, freshness, & selection. We will definitely be visiting this bakery every time we come to visit our friends in Montreal!

Authentic Italian pastry shop with the freshest & top quality ingredients used in cakes, pastries, cookies, taralli & tomato pizzas. There are more than a variety of cakes & sweets & this place is always busy. Despite the line ups the service is quite quick. Super friendly staff.

This is my favourite pastry shop in Montreal. I love it so much that I haven't been here in months. There's too much good stuff, & everything in the shop isn't good for my diet. Lol. It's Heaven in the form of Sugar in here. So many of the pasties I've never seen in the other places I've been throughout the city. & I've been to a lot.

My childhood pastry shop ….after Mass & staring up at Mussolini we use to run across the street .. “per un piccolo dolce” .. the smell of fresh coffee on the streets of Dante is still in my memory …. My favorite then were their cannolis … today I love their Amaretti cookies al pistachio, al limone 🤪😜😋
My guests go crazy for them … always have some in my freezer, just in case.
