Review Summary

Nouilles de Lan Zhou is a bustling Chinatown staple where fresh hand pulled noodles and rich, aromatic broths take center stage in a simple menu. Portions are large and prices fair, with many reviews highlighting beef Lanzhou and Dan Dan bowls, the option to choose noodle thickness, and spice levels, plus combos with cucumber salad and edamame. The experience is often marked by long lines outside and a cramped space inside, though watching the noodles being made and the downstairs grocery add to the appeal, and service is usually fast and efficient. Some visits mention inconsistency in flavor, especially with broth strength or noodle texture, and a few notes about variable service and lack of air conditioning or limited seating during peak times. Overall, it is widely regarded as a must try for noodle lovers in Montreal, delivering authentic handmade noodles, good value, and a memorable, energetic atmosphere despite the crowded space.

Great spot! They are usually quite packed but that only tells you how good their dishes are.

A bit of wait since they are popular. Taste was good but the place is a bit cramped.

The broth needs to be improved. Also I ordered second thickness ??. The thickness of the noodles is like uneven. Some too thick some too thin, looks ridiculous in my bowl. The side dish is good.

You really shouldn't miss this, it's a great place. It's a good place, it's a good hotel, I've never seen anything like it. I loved it.

Lan Zhou is directly a part of-occupying the floor above Marché G&D, it is a Chinatown handmade noodle spot. But you would miss if you didn't see the lineup that is not there for the market. We were headed there as part of our Chinatown trek, & it stayed busy even for a late Sunday lunch. Quarters are tight-real estate is clearly at a premium-but you don't care because you're here for the big, beautiful bowls of noodle soup.

My daughter & I stopped in while making our way through the neighbourhood (watch for those other reviews soon). We shared one large bowl & only had a little each-she took the rest home for later in the day, or maybe even the week. Really good quality all around. The handmade noodles come in about eight sizes, from wide, flat ribbons almost as big as lasagna sheets down to skinny vermicelli.

Service is abrupt & quick-no small talk, just efficiency. & when I asked about tea, the reply was short & clear:'No tea.'

I have tried many noodles in my life, never had anything so fresh, perfectly chewy with natural broth. Normally I always taste some kind of chemical in other places, I love this place. I wish they had a location in Toronto!

Overhyped noodles. They tasted flavorless & undercooked. The broth wasn't anything special either. Staff was friendly. There was a long line & the place was packed. The interior could use a good deep clean, there's cobwebs hanging off of fixtures above people's plates & inch thick dust.

I've been wanting to try Lan Zhou Noodles for almost a year but the line was always insane 😩
Finally made it, & I'd give it a solid 7.5/10 ✨ or in Google 3.5
The broth is super flavorful, noodles are on point (you can even choose your type 🍜).
The menu's small but prices are fair.
Got the small bowl & honestly… couldn't have finished a bigger one 😅

Waited almost an hour for a table on a Sunday evening. While in line, I was irritated with a Chinese lady who walked past the long queue while telling her friend to behold the foolish foreigners & tourists who don't know any better.'Just shut up & mind your own business,' I thought.

It turns out she wasn't wrong.

The staff was very helpful & friendly, but the food was thoroughly underwhelming. The potato side dish flavored with seaweed salad was an unnecessary mash-up. It is extremely rare for our family of three to leave a dish untouched after only a couple of bites. The edamame was a much better choice.

The flagship Lanzhou beef noodles lacked flavor, & the beef was paper-thin. I am very puzzled as to why this place is rated so highly. In fact, I cannot recall eating at another beef noodle place that isn't noticeably better than this one.

Got #4 noodle … combo A…All you need is a small size more than enough per person. But make sure to get spicy. It was delicious.

Pretty good. Food portions were large & broth was not too salty. I wouldn't get the map xi noodles & they were too thin & hard to eat as they got soft & tangled up. Taste was great, & lots of noodles with the chili oil.
