About

Nouilles de Lan Zhou specializes in the traditional art of hand-pulled wheat noodles crafted fresh to order. The process begins with skilled technicians stretching dough into various thicknesses, ranging from thin vermicelli to wide ribbons, which serve as the foundation for every bowl. These noodles are immersed in a clear, slow-simmered beef broth infused with aromatic spices and served with tender slices of braised meat. Additional toppings such as fresh cilantro, scallions, and house-made chili oil provide a sharp, vibrant contrast to the savory foundation. Patrons observe the rhythmic preparation of the dough from an open kitchen workspace that emphasizes transparency and culinary technique. The menu focuses exclusively on these authentic soup preparations, ensuring a consistent focus on texture and depth of flavor in every serving.

Nouilles de Lan Zhou is a popular destination in Montreal's Chinatown known for its authentic, freshly hand-pulled noodles that can be customized by thickness. While the restaurant is frequently busy with lines outside, the service is generally fast and efficient, matching the quick-paced atmosphere. The portions are consistently described as very generous, offering excellent value for the price, and many diners appreciate the ability to watch the chefs prepare the noodles. Although opinions on the broth flavor and overall service experience vary among visitors, it remains a highly regarded spot for a satisfying and hearty bowl of soup in an unpretentious setting.

Such a great deal for a big bowl of delicious noodles!! I got the combo with veggie noodles, tea egg, & spicy cucumber & it was so worth it. Filling but isn't a heavy broth/meal that makes you feel heavy after. With the price & size, this place is worth the hype!

The noodles is fine, I'd say above average. What I want to talk about is the tip situation. Upon paying the bill an amount was already showing on the machine. I did not see the screen for adding tips. I did not overthink & paid for it. Afterwards I thought about it, the amount for the tip seemed off so I double checked. Bill total before tax was $52.86, tip amount was $13.79. 13.79/52.86=0.261. So I paid 26% tip. I went back & asked the server about this, he told me I clicked too fast, which was not the case. I asked him to cancel the bill which he agreed. Now I can see the tip screen, the options are 18%, 20% & 30%. Unless I was hallucinating I did not press the number'13.79' as the tip. So what happened? Say the server fat fingered & clicked on the options for the tip by accident, it cannot be the ones for the preset percentage which was proofed by the math; I did not select $13.79 as tip, the only explanation is the server selected the number on purpose. Prove me wrong. Edit: saw couple comments from before indicating forced tip. At the end of the day it's your words against mine, but if you eat here just be aware while tipping is all I want to say.
