So I have passed by this place numerous times & finally had the chance to experience.
They have expanded the space which has reduced the line ups somewhat as they are still busy.
Tried the basic vegetable broth & vegetarian soup with thin noodles.
The broth was good but could have benefited from more umami flavour. It would have been beneficial to have some condiments on the table for those who may wish to add flavour or spice/heat. I won't go into examples as that's not the point as everyone has their own preferences.
The portion was significant as I ordered the medium size & shared with much left over. The fresh noodles were the absolute tree star of the dish & were near perfection.
Service is ok but the servers are busy running around to help everyone & as such, you're actually better off getting your own extra napkins or chip sticks etc. instead of waiting for a server. This does not seem to be the fault of the server as it's the fault of management understaffing the place.View more
Fresh noodles, tasty spicy soup. You must try it! Unfortunately no Ac.View more
The noodles here are delicious. I love watching the chef skillfully pull & shape the fresh noodles right in the kitchen & cook them directly. I chose a small combo size with noodles number 5, because it included 1 egg & 3 types of salad to choose from. It helped me eat just enough & not be too full. You can choose from non-spicy to very spicy from the waiter. The staff here are very enthusiastic in guiding you. The restaurant is located right in Chinatown, so it is very crowded & bustling. You will see a long line of people waiting for a seat. You should come earlier than lunch or dinner time to get a seat more easily.View more
A Hidden Gem for a Monday Night Feast
Finding a great spot for dinner on a Monday in Montreal can be a challenge, but this restaurant proves to be a rare & welcome exception. A true hidden gem, especially for visitors, it offers a combination of fast, friendly service & consistently delicious food.
Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, & arrived quickly-a testament to the kitchen's efficiency without compromising quality. The standout dish? The dan dan noodles-perfectly balanced in flavor & texture. However, spice lovers take note: even if you request'very spicy,' the heat level remains relatively mild.
Overall, a fantastic find for a Monday night meal & well worth a visit any day of the week.View more
The DanDan noodles are amazing! The noodles are fresh flavourful & the experience is definitely worth waiting in line!View more
Meat is old & stiff.. try the lamb noodles down the street which is juicy & fresh.
Noodles good but sometimes overcooked.
Prices have almost doubled in the last few years.View more
This is a super busy place. The noodles are fresh. The broth is a little bit generic & misses flavours. For a quick eat & run on a cold day, it is a good choice.View more
The fresh noodles & broth were excellent here! Ordered #1 combo & the egg for the combo was blah...I was expecting a soft goey inside & it was boiled, it was disappointing. The cucumber side dish on the other hand was delicious to pair with the noodles, so refreshing & seasoned well, so flavorful!View more
If you're in the mood for a fun dining experience with tasty food, you absolutely need to check out Nouilles de Lan Zhou! One of the coolest things about this noodle shop is watching the chefs craft fresh noodles right in front of you-it's such a mesmerizing sight! The noodles are chewy, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. The menu is packed with a great variety, so there's definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Honestly, I've had the best hand-pulled noodles here! You can pick the size of your dish, whether you want small or large, the thickness of the noodles, & even how spicy you'd like the soup. The meat is super tender, & the rich beef broth is just mouthwatering! Plus, the portions are huge & the prices are really reasonable. The service is top-notch as well! You're in for a treat!View more
Hands down the best noodle experience in old montreal ! The taste is pure & authentic with chinese flavours ✨ & the fresh noodles are one of a kind in the entire city !!View more
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I recently visited Nouilles de Lan Zhou, & it was a culinary experience I won't soon forget! The atmosphere is vibrant & inviting, making you feel right at home the moment you walk in. What truly sets this noodle shop apart is the mesmerizing sight of the chefs making fresh noodles right in the window. It's not just a meal; it's a show! The homemade noodles are nothing short of incredible-chewy, flavorful, & perfectly cooked. Each dish I tried was bursting with authentic flavors that transported me straight to the heart of noodle culture. The menu offers a great variety, ensuring there's something for everyone. If you're looking for a unique dining experience with delicious food & a lively atmosphere, Nouilles de Lan Zhou is the place to be. I can't wait to go back for another bowl of those amazing noodles! Highly recommend! 🍜✨View more
This is the second time I've eaten there, the first time it was in the middle of winter & the layout of the place means that we ate with our winter coats on because of the gaping door that let the cold inside the restaurant. This time they have enlarged the South part which offers a few more seats. Obviously we had to wait in line outside (10-15 minutes) because the place is so well-known. Once inside the order was placed quickly. The lack of air conditioning & the unpadded benches are what I noticed. For orders it's quite simple, you have to choose the type of soup & the choice of noodle size, the sides if you want. When the dishes arrive I notice that the broth is ultra hot 🥵, I like that. To enhance the soup a little I would have liked to have more herbs & an egg without paying extra. The chili sauce & the lack of fresh air make us sweat profusely, it feels like we're in a sauna!!! Fortunately we didn't have to finish the soup & we can take the leftovers home. Wow, I ate well but I couldn't wait to go out to get some air. Very satisfied under the circumstances, very difficult to find parking if you come by car, plan to wait in line before eating, do not wear light-colored or expensive clothing (the splashes of broth with the hot sauce stain your clothes)View more
When you see people lined up for noodle soup at 83F, you know this place is legit. This place serves good hand-pulled noodles & the service was pretty quick. The place itself is small & divided into 2 seating sections. I recommend coming here early especially if you have a big group. They have 7 types of noodles & number 7 is the most favorite one. The noodles are chewy, not too thick, & slurping good! The highly recommended noodle soup has a clear, fresh broth & tender meat. It's so good! & their dandan noodles is also superb although not spicy enough if you enjoy spicy food.View more
This place is an amazing place to go if you want to find authentic or as close as authentic Lanzhou noodles. It is always delicious noodles are always fresh. Service is nice & fast. They constantly come & fill your water. They do not let you wait on them. Amazing place if you ever come to Montreal want want a great beef noodle definitely give this place a tryView more
They have expanded the place since the last time I went & added a few more seatings to meet demands (people are still lining up). Food is made fresh but was it out of this world? No, i've had similar noodle bowls elsewhere & price point, expect about 20$ per person (i find it expensive for what it is). As many people mentioned in their reviews, there is no air conditionner. We left this place sweating like we just took a shower, i hope they will eventually take this in consideration. Will I come back anytime soon? No! Service was fast & friendly.View more
Food was delicious. FRESH noodles make all the difference! Atmosphere is busy. But well worth the waitView more
The food is fresh & good Waiting is long, terrible service, hygiene is average Impossible to sit in in the summer because if the heat, no air conditioning Not recommend at allView more
The food is really good, only one vegetarian option. The vegetarian noodle soup is amazing because the boulion is really silky, creamy & the mushrooms inside is moist & with a lot of flavour. The cucumber salad is so crunchy & flavoury with nuts, oil & chilli. The only thing that the egg is not enough marinated. Thank you for fresh noodles 🙏View more
This time noodle is so uncooked with fresh flour taste. & the soup are getting so clear & not even thick enough like last two times visit. I ordered soup noodle as I love the soup but I am not loving it this time. & the price goes 40-50% higher. I remember this Feb the same noodle was $12 but this time is $16 . DisappointingView more
I went to try their food with my boyfriend & my sister. By the time we got home, all of us felt awfully sick. We ordered the beef noodles, dan dan noodles, & the braised beef noodles, with edamame & the spicy marinated beef. The food was very oily & the beef was unpleasantly chewy. Also the marinated beef was too salty. The braised beef noodle soup had these big chunks of beef/fat that were hard to eat & most of it was just fat. We all ended up having headaches & felt very sick. I think some of the ingredients were not fresh. Also, the waitress stared at the machine when I wanted to pay, as if I was being forced to tip. Very unprofessional.View more
Dan Dan noodle is the best here. I tried the broth options but nothing came close to the Dan Dan noodles. The food is always fresh & delicious. They increased their seating capacity in recent years, but there is still a big waiting line when you are at the peak hours. Recommended to go there early or during odd hours if you are a big group. Perfect for groups of 2 or 4 whenever. They have a lot of sizes for their noodles & they make it on the spot. Service is average, they seat you, take your order & that's pretty much it, it'll be hard getting water refills if you don't catch their attention. The ambiance is nice but quite loud when there are a lot of people. You also have to get up & go pay at the machine, some people don't know that & wait at their table lol. Overall I recommend giving the Dan Dan noodle a try at least once if you're in Montreal, I'd give more than 5 stars for food if I could, which is why I'm giving it an overall review of 5.View more
This is my go to place in china town, always good & fresh. No line if you're there before 16h-17h & takeout is super quick. they have upped the price since ive been going there but i find it's still worth it with the portions you receive. If you're dining in it's very cramped but it's not necessarily a restaurant you're meant to stay in longer than needed.View more
Imagine waiting in line for a half hour to order some noodles during on off meal time then realizing that while annoying, it was worth it. They have limited space, but fantastic food. The noodles are so fresh, & you can tell. Great food. Smaller parties are better for getting seated faster.View more
I heard about this place & had to try it. I wasn't disappointed at all. The beef soup was spectacular & the noodles were fantastic. Great prices too. If you like hand made fresh noodles this is a good spot! Next time, I will try the Dan Dan noodles.View more
Really nice experience. Noodles are soooo fresh & the portions are HUGE.View more
Amazing fresh noodles & very tasty dishes! Clearly a place you should try! Also, the prices are decent for the sizes & flavors. The place is small which cause the waiting time to be really long. Thus, go outside of rush hour. The service is ok but since it is always busy, you don't really have a good service.View more
In-house fresh noodles. Soup lacks taste in my opinion.View more
Busy. Cramped. But amazing fresh home made noodles.View more
Good but not worth the wait line. I had the soup with the thickest round noodles. The broth tasted very much like traditional pho. I was expecting something different. The fresh noodles are amazing & I love watching them get made, it's so fascinating. The portions are huge. I had the small & could barely finish it. The meat was pretty good & tender nothing special. The egg was nice, it actually did take abit like tea. I had the algae/potato salad. I RARELY use this word but I hated it. I've had seaweed salad before, the glossy sushi restaurant type but this was completely different. Crunchy texture & it tasted like fishy slime. I had to add alot of spicy sesame paste they had on the table to make it bearable. The service was very fast no complaints there. All in all its a good place but if there's a lineup don't bother.
