Review Summary

New Royal India is frequently praised for authentic Indian flavors, generous portions, and reasonable prices, with butter chicken, samosas, garlic naan, and other staples earning strong recommendations, while the service is consistently kind and friendly, making it feel like a reliable go to for both takeout and dining in. While most reviews are positive, a few experiences mention inconsistencies such as onion bhaji that were hard, basmati rice not used despite the menu labeling, and some dishes like chicken tikka masala or naan not as fresh, though many still consider it a hidden gem with good value and quick service.

Friendly service, very clean restaurant & delicious food! I ordered the chana bhatura, eggplant bhartha, butter chicken & samosa. Yummy!

Best samosas ever! The service is always kind & friendly. Their garlic naan & butter chicken are incredible as well. This has been my go-to Indian takeout spot for the past two years!

Basically, it was ok. Some dishes were better than others. If you figure out which to order & which to avoid you'll probably enjoy your food.

It was a take out order so I can't comment on the service, but the person that took the order was nice enough.

My take on the dishes we ordered:
- Really enjoyed the samosas.

- The lababdar, chicken & paneer, were both tasty. The color was a bit weird, I'm used to a redder color (maybe it's a regional difference), but I still enjoyed it.

- The chicken tikka masala was not very good in my opinion. The texture & color felt more like tomato (spaghetti) sauce. I've had much better.

- I didn't taste the butter chicken, but no one at the table was raving about it, or complaining about it (take this as you want).

- The naan didn't seem fresh & had no ghee or butter on it. It wasn't bad, but I've had better.

The food is DELICIOUS!! Went for a birthday party so we got to taste a few things from the menu- the samosas, the butter chicken, the paneer bites, incredible. The staff was super kind & friendly, I will definitely come back. Best Indian food I've had in Montreal yet- in terms of variety, taste, staff being so considerate.

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. I have had the opportunity to try this restaurant on two separate gatherings with friends. First of all, the staff & the owners are super friendly & accommodating. They closed down the restaurant just for our group to celebrate a birthday. The food was beyond delicious especially their crispy mushrooms, fish pakoras, & butter chicken. I hate daal, but I went for a second bowl here. It's Indian home-style cooking & in my opinion top 5 Indian restaurant in the city. Also, it's a BYOW restaurant.
