I may have found my new favorite ramen place in town.
The decor is striking. It's like the original Blade Runner. It's very well done. Great place for a dinner date.
Menu has a lot of typical appetizers, ramen & mazemen. We tried the house wontons, the classic tonkotsu ramen & house mazemen. Everything was excellent. The katsu was perfect, probably the best I've had here.
The cocktails were also very interesting. Nice staff.
Come early, because it's popular.
Prices aren't cheap (especially the apps), but the quality is there. I'll absolutely return.View more

Absolutely amazing. We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened & tables had already begun filling up. Our server was a very chill guy, very helpful, & he was a pleasure to have. I got the Tonkotsu ramen & it was was perfectly made. The noodles were perfectly firm & didn't get soggy as I ate. It was some of the best ramen I've had in North America. My friends also got the vegan ramen with the vegan meat add-on & enjoyed it a lot. The environment was also superb. Overall it was absolutely amazing & I would love to go again.View more

My partner & I shared 2 dishes - the perfect amount of food at lunchtime, honestly. The tonkotsu ramen left me craving it weeks after. The hamachi crudo was pretty good, perfect as a fresh appetizer before our main. The service was upscale quality. It came to around $45 after tax & tip.View more

The ambience of this place is great! It gives off a cyberpunk/stray vibe. Service was very good too. Food took a little too long but the server was very attentive. As for the food, my partner & I ordered the mazemen & the tonkotsu ramen...first few bites we were amazed by the flavour! But after a few more bites it gets old. Overall both dishes were too salty. The menu is small & doesnt offer much variety for food (yes for drinks). Not a kid-friendly place (nor picky-eater-friendly). It's also very expensive, $70 for two people, 2 ramens, 1 non-alcoholic drink & 15% tip.View more

On a Friday night, we had to wait for 20 min for a table. They ask for our number to call us when a place is available. We had to wait for around 15 min for the food to come. The food was just average. We took the Tokyo style & Tonkotsu ramen & the broth was too salty. The quantity is too little. For the egg, you only get half of it. The noodles texture was perfect. It was expensive, around 20$ a bowl. The karaage was good but ordinary & is not in big quantity. The server was nice & quick. I wouldn't come backView more

Having experienced this place at the start of our Montreal road trip, we returned on our last leg before heading home. We can report that the tonkotsu ramen was equally good the second time round. We also tried the very spicy lamb mazemen & although I could take the heat, certain spices just make my head sweat. Really tasty! The extra surprise this time was the fish cake which was a lovely starter.View more

Many moons ago, I came across Kinton Ramen in Chicago. I was looking forward to finding one in Montreal, but then I got distracted & came across this ramen-ya! Neo Tokyo had a little bit of that underground grunginess that you see in many Japanese manga/anime & sci-fi films. It transports you into that pseudo Matrix set. Our hostess (I think she is Meriem, at least that's what the bill said. Sorry, I should have asked;) was jokingly asking us if we want the French or English version of her services. Regretfully my français est très mal. So we went with English. The selection of appetizers were fantastic. Japanese fusion, they would not be out of place in any top Japanese restaurants: Spicy Karaage Nasu Agebidash Agedashi Tofu Kimchi Tsukemono You can really sense the various textures & depths of flavour. Then the main event: Tonkotsu! I have religiously tried many places from Japan, US, UK & it is a real skill to combine both the right noodles & the broth. Neo Tokyo hits that bulls eye on both counts. The firmness of the noddles & the richness of the broth were both exceptional! The creaminess is so smooth. Really cool decor for a restaurant for sure! Unfortunately, the food was not exactly up to par considering the price point in my opinion. Takoyaki was tasty, nothing negative about it. The Mezamen I thought tasted ok & is a nice option. The Tonkotsu ramen was the most unfortunate as it made my friend sick & tasted odd. I do not know if they put some sort of cream or milk in the broth but it tasted as though cream had not been tempered in the broth properly & curdled, which is too bad. I value a restaurant's food above all else which is why I am only giving 3 stars, but we otherwise had a good service & the atmosphere was fun.View more

Very cool looking place. It has that sci-fi Blade Runner feel. With a very simple menu, I highly suggest trying their ramen carbonara (crème de bacon) 👌. Their Tonkotsu is a mild broth that lacked a bit of saltiness imo , we preferred the more rich, dense, creamy & slightly spicy TanTan broth!View more

Food is not bad. Dry Ramen was a favorite! The combination of super umami-ness from the tobiko & the well seasoned smooth noodle is really nice. Tonkotsu was okay, definitely not super authentic at all if you're looking for one. We also ordered a few side dishes like gyoza & karaage to share, there were great!View more

We had the Karaage, Takoyaki "nachos" & Tonkotsu. The Tonkotsu arrived to the table about 5 minutes before the appetizers which was a little strange, but everything was served within ten - fifteen minutes of ordering. The Tonkotsu was very flavorful, maybe slightly too salty, but still very enjoyable. The noodles & the egg were done perfectly! Noodles had a soft & chewy texture, egg was soft boiled to perfection, & the creamy broth coated everything nicely. The meat could have been more tender & flavourful, but it wasn't bad by any means. Next came the Takoyaki "nachos". I'm a big fan of Takoyaki, we asked if we could get it traditional, without the "nacho" part, but we were told it's not possible. It's 4 pieces in total, fried with Dorito crumbs, covered in sauce, sliced fresh jalapeno, & bonito flakes. I usually love bonito flakes, but these ones were SO smoky & overpowering that I couldn't taste the Takoyaki or the sauce. Seriously unpleasant in my opinion, I felt like I ate a spoonful of liquid smoke. The Karaage was good, well battered & very tender, served with an interesting aoli, however, still not what I was hoping for. (If you love Karaage, check it out at Gyu Kaku. *Chefs kiss*). The atmosphere was great, we loved the lighting & decor, & the service was friendly but if I'm being honest, the best part of the meal was who I ate it with. Overall, I'm glad we tried it, but wouldn't go back.View more

The Neotokyo Mazesoba is excellent. Very tasty, & nice combination of textures & flavours. Highly recommended. The tonkotsu ramen is just alright. The broth was a bit bland, so I don't recommend that dish. Drinks were hit & miss. The H2O is refreshing, but the lemon overpowers the other ingredients. The Vista Del Rey is super good if you like minty flavours, but the portion size is way too small. Overall, the drinks aren't good value. I suggest drinking before or after going here, or just ordering a beer if you must. The decor is fun, staff was attentive. Space fills up fast. Not sure I'll return, as the overall value is just alright.View more

The service was very attentive but the pretend cyber punk aestethic was funny (big RAMEN grafitti 🤣) The new tofu appetizer relies strongly on the sauce that doesn't cling to the gelatinous covering, so it was not a big hit for us. We got much more chicken from the tonkotsu ramen than but we found it too salty.View more

We had the Tonkotsu Ramen & Mazesoba 👌😎 good choices. We also tried the chicken. It's plenty of food for two people. Make sure to arrive early as there is a waiting list, but they can call you when it's your turn so you don't have to wait in the restaurant. Cool spotView more

The ramen is really good (not the best in the city, but above average for sure). We got there at 5:30 (right when it opens) & there was a line, but we got in right away. Get there at 5:30 if you don't want to wait. Service & atmosphere are great. Perfect for a date or fun & funky dinner. - the spicy chicken karaage was really good. It comes with pumpkin seeds & cranberries on top, which go really well. - I think the TanTan ramen is better than the TonkotsuView more

They don’t take reservations, which is unfortunate because I drove 1 hour to get there & they were full. Was told about a 20-30min wait & ended up waiting about 45min-1h. Got sat down to a chair soaked in water & a table covered in water, I guess it was from the cloth they used to clean the table, they just didn’t dry it before sitting us. I had to wipe my table with my napkin. Ordered a side at the same time as my friend, for whatever reason she got hers almost immediately & I had to wait over 20mins for mine…? Got the Tonkotsu soup as a main meal, my friend & I both didn’t really like it… but I do think it’s because it’s simply just not something we like, it seem somewhat good for someone who would appreciate a meal like this. Took forever to get my bill, waitress was nice & polite but overall over hyped & over priced. The ambiance & decor is very cool.View more
