Sooo so good. The hamachi crudo is really special. The karage was crispy & very good. The crème de bacon dry ramen was excellent. Think Japanese inspired carbonara. So so good. Also had the mazesoba was also very good. The noodles in both dishes were perfectly chewy. The service was friendly, attentive & efficient. Highly recommend.View more

This place has a wonderful atmosphere & service. I definitely recommend it for anyone that is a blade runner fan or loves the neo tokyo atmosphere from Ghost in the Shell. Either way, I would still recommend anyone to visit this restaurant to try out their ramen! However, the ramen is unfortunately the downfall of this place. I had to pay extra just to have a spice to put on the ramen. The soup itself was not as rich & the noodles were subpar but still enjoyable. Take a visit if you haven't yet!View more

Absolutely amazing. We arrived about 10 minutes after they opened & tables had already begun filling up. Our server was a very chill guy, very helpful, & he was a pleasure to have. I got the Tonkotsu ramen & it was was perfectly made. The noodles were perfectly firm & didn't get soggy as I ate. It was some of the best ramen I've had in North America. My friends also got the vegan ramen with the vegan meat add-on & enjoyed it a lot. The environment was also superb. Overall it was absolutely amazing & I would love to go again.View more

I would give it 5 stars alone for the interior alone, but that's not exactly fair & I'm biased. There was a bit of wait on Thursday night, but it's manageable. Once we were seated the food didn't take too long. Tried curry, two different varieties of noodles. Everything tasted great in its own way. I think the curry was a bit too salty probably. Service was excellent & I really liked the attitude of their staff. I really have to comment on the girl that served us since the could hear us so well despite being a bit noisy around.View more

On a Friday night, we had to wait for 20 min for a table. They ask for our number to call us when a place is available. We had to wait for around 15 min for the food to come. The food was just average. We took the Tokyo style & Tonkotsu ramen & the broth was too salty. The quantity is too little. For the egg, you only get half of it. The noodles texture was perfect. It was expensive, around 20$ a bowl. The karaage was good but ordinary & is not in big quantity. The server was nice & quick. I wouldn't come backView more

For Montreal ramen it was very good. As we just got back from Japan we're hesitant to eat Japanese food here since we know it will never measure up, but this was very satisfying. Tonkatsu ramen: broth lacked some depth, noodles lacked some chew, but the porc was incredibly tender & tasty, egg was probably the best ramen egg I've ever had, & the bamboo had great flavour. Staff was friendly & the vibe is cool. Overall I'd go backView more

The interior decoration is quite unique! I like the phone booth at the side! Food wise, soup broth is thick & can be salty for some people, but i feel it's flavourful. Chilli spice level is super low. When they say it's spicy, it's just peppery. So you can always request for the chilli power later. The dry noodles can be oily for some but I feel that's the correct texture. Add the rice that comes with it to level up the dry noodles experience! Give that a good mix & the rice will actually cling onto the noodles. Service wise, do be patient. The chefs are attentive & noticed the customers needs really fast. But the servers might require slightly more patience as they tend not to notice the customers.View more

Why does ramen have to be so expensive in Mtl?!?! Granted: Neo Tokyo offers a nice rich & creamy broth without seeing an oily film over the soup nor feeling bad oily feel in mouth. Great char siu too! & the egg is definitely one of the better ones I've had in Mtl. Good job. But why the heck so expensive in Mtl?!?! Also ordered the Très Spicy Mazemen with lamb. Très good taste & good amount of lamb. It comes with a glass of soy milk to manage the heat BUT...very disappointing heat. Anyone who loves peppers & respects the heat will know the Korean buldak instant noodles. If you use the whole pack of spicy seasonning for the buldak (& you like it that spicy because the truth is that all we need is heat) then the très spicy mazemen is like 1/8 of that heat...maybe 1/10. So go ahead, eat the mazemen & don't be afraid to take out your contact lenses from your eyes without washing your hands if you need to after finishing slurpping these noodely friendlies. & then there is the spicy karaage (or should we simply say tangy karaage...no real heat here again)...big pieces, good ratio protein & batter, well fried, smothered in yummy sauce yet still crispy BUT why costco dehydrated cranberries & pumpkin seeds (or are they pepitas). Weird garnish. Cheapens it. I would do without or find something better. Don't need that tartness or nuttyness. Otherwise, great cyber punk atmosphere. You'd think you're in a Blade Runner set. Kuddos! Beers are decently priced. Acceptable. Service is good but almost too present...We don't need the waiter to come back so often. Just been there once so not sure if that's how they wait or if the one waiter we had.View more

Atmosphere & decor were incredible! Staff were attentive & friendly. However, the food was really lacking. My noodles were way too over seasoned tasting super salty & fatty making it unpleasant to eat. Fastfood quality made it feel overpriced unfortunately.View more

Many moons ago, I came across Kinton Ramen in Chicago. I was looking forward to finding one in Montreal, but then I got distracted & came across this ramen-ya! Neo Tokyo had a little bit of that underground grunginess that you see in many Japanese manga/anime & sci-fi films. It transports you into that pseudo Matrix set. Our hostess (I think she is Meriem, at least that's what the bill said. Sorry, I should have asked;) was jokingly asking us if we want the French or English version of her services. Regretfully my français est très mal. So we went with English. The selection of appetizers were fantastic. Japanese fusion, they would not be out of place in any top Japanese restaurants: Spicy Karaage Nasu Agebidash Agedashi Tofu Kimchi Tsukemono You can really sense the various textures & depths of flavour. Then the main event: Tonkotsu! I have religiously tried many places from Japan, US, UK & it is a real skill to combine both the right noodles & the broth. Neo Tokyo hits that bulls eye on both counts. The firmness of the noddles & the richness of the broth were both exceptional! The creaminess is so smooth. Your inner noodle-self will thank you profusely!View more

The mezaman was definitely great!!! They were really swamped, we sat at the bar , so we get to see how crazy busy the chef was! Just lost one star because the drink was kinda bit too light.. The karage was really hot & crisp!! The noodles were so so so gooooood, even my wife says yes. & my wife ain't one to like most food Will definitely come back!!View more

Been over 10 times & every single time the food was stellar. Always extremely delicous, the drinks are all nice & refreshing. Staff is always super cheerful, talkative & respectful. The atmosphere is what attracted me there in the first place. Very cool futuristic japanese style deco couples with good music makes an ambience you could stay in four hours. Gotta arrive early after opening cause the place gets packed quickly around 7pm. I recommend this to anyone who wants great noodles & appetizers.View more

Food is not bad. Dry Ramen was a favorite! The combination of super umami-ness from the tobiko & the well seasoned smooth noodle is really nice. Tonkotsu was okay, definitely not super authentic at all if you're looking for one. We also ordered a few side dishes like gyoza & karaage to share, there were great!View more

We had the Karaage, Takoyaki "nachos" & Tonkotsu. The Tonkotsu arrived to the table about 5 minutes before the appetizers which was a little strange, but everything was served within ten - fifteen minutes of ordering. The Tonkotsu was very flavorful, maybe slightly too salty, but still very enjoyable. The noodles & the egg were done perfectly! Noodles had a soft & chewy texture, egg was soft boiled to perfection, & the creamy broth coated everything nicely. The meat could have been more tender & flavourful, but it wasn't bad by any means. Next came the Takoyaki "nachos". I'm a big fan of Takoyaki, we asked if we could get it traditional, without the "nacho" part, but we were told it's not possible. It's 4 pieces in total, fried with Dorito crumbs, covered in sauce, sliced fresh jalapeno, & bonito flakes. I usually love bonito flakes, but these ones were SO smoky & overpowering that I couldn't taste the Takoyaki or the sauce. Seriously unpleasant in my opinion, I felt like I ate a spoonful of liquid smoke. The Karaage was good, well battered & very tender, served with an interesting aoli, however, still not what I was hoping for. (If you love Karaage, check it out at Gyu Kaku. *Chefs kiss*). The atmosphere was great, we loved the lighting & decor, & the service was friendly but if I'm being honest, the best part of the meal was who I ate it with. Overall, I'm glad we tried it, but wouldn't go back.View more

The neotokyo extra was tasty. Noodles very fresh. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The miso ramen was a bit too salty for my taste & the portions were a bit small, which is why 4 stars instead of 5. Would still come back though!View more

Heads up: No Reservations & No Cash. Great place to dine in for some sides to share; we had pork gyoza, kuyri no sarada (cucumber salad), chili shrimp wonton, chikua (fishcake mozarella) tempura, karaage & edamame. We all tried Mazemen (brothless/thick noodles) Neotokyo Mazesoba (Beef soboro), super delicious. Refreshing ice cream as desserts. Special shoutout to Edween & Mary.View more

First, if you want to get into this no-reservations resto, show up fifteen minutes prior to opening. Also, skip lunch. The portions are generous & the food unctuous. We had one traditional ramen soup (great broth), one dry noodle dish that has a little bit of everything added to it, & one bacon cream noodle. All were superb. Starters were nice too: fried chicken, cold eggplant & dumplings. If you do have a starter, a 2-main-dishes / 3 people might be the way to go. Adding this to my favourites list. Oh, appreciated the retro 1930s-40s music! Attentive friendly service too.View more

Come here for the cyberpunk vibes, not the food. The salmon mazemen is one of the worst noodle dishes I've ever tasted. There was nothing wrong with the salmon or ikura on their own, but the sauce they used was so fishy. The noodles were cold & on the firm side, so unless you REALLY love the taste of raw fish, the whole dish will taste like the stench of a fish market. The only redeeming dish was the spicy karaage. It was crispy & the spiciness level was just about right with a tinge of sweetness. However it was not good enough to forget about the unpleasantness of the mazemen. This place is usually busy too, so expect a long wait to get in & get your food.View more

The ramen was absolutely fantastic. The service is very very friendly & the food came quite quickly.

The counter is a really nice place to sit & watch everything come together.

All in all, this is more than a noodle bar/ramen shop & more of a full experience. I will totally be back.View more

I had the pleasure of dining at NeoTokyo in Montreal during my recent vacation, & I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. At first, I was a bit skeptical as the restaurant didn't seem to offer traditional noodle dishes, but I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible culinary experience that awaited me.

The menu at NeoTokyo is a delightful fusion of flavors, blending traditional Japanese cuisine with modern twists. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented & bursting with unique flavors. From the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a memorable dining experience.

However, what truly elevated my dining experience was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Benjamin. He was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also passionate about the food & its origins. Benjamin's recommendations were spot-on, & his attention to detail ensured that every aspect of our meal was perfect.

The ambiance of NeoTokyo was also worth mentioning. The sleek & modern decor created a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere, allowing us to relax & fully immerse ourselves in the culinary journey.

Overall, NeoTokyo & our fantastic waiter Benjamin left an indelible impression on me. The innovative & delicious dishes, combined with Benjamin's impeccable service, made for an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking for a unique & exceptional dining experience in Montreal, I highly recommend NeoTokyo.View more

Came in the restaurant on a sat around 10:15 & got a table around 10:25ish ,they closed at 11. Service & vibes were definitely there no complaints on that end. Tried the speciality neotokyo Taiwanese mazeboba, had a nice variety of toppings so kudos however it tasted mid to me, onions were overpowering & the dish itself seemed bland (some type of sauce could have been incorporated more). If they left sauce on the side could be nice. So overall 6/10 for that dish. We also ordered the salmon noodles dish, I was really disappointed at how plain of a dish it was. It was literally just cured salmon, fish eggs & noodles with I think just oil. This dish could use more textures & sauce for sure. Don’t get me wrong it’s ok but not what I expected & anyone could make this if I’m being honest. So for this 5/10. I guess to each it’s own. Overall review service 10/10, Atmosphere 10/10 & food 6/10
