I went there without a reservation. The place was quite busy in the evening on a weekday. I sat on the bar as this was the only available spot. The duck confit was exquisite, so soft & juicy. Cheese was served with a delicious walnut bread. The service was quite & very friendly. Highly recommend this place.
Great atmosphere, food & service.
Trendy vibrant bar/restaurant. Mix of tourists & locals. There are two kitchens with different menus. The front/bar menu looked better to us. The dining room menus Is meant to be a 3 course meal with Moore traditional food. We ate at the front kitchen.
The service was impeccable. Staff were very attentive & made excellent suggestions. You can tell they go out of their way to make your experience unforgettable.
The food was excellent. We had the bone marrow & octopus for starters. The marrow was seasoned well & the escargot was a great accompaniment. The octopus was perfectly charred & so tender, the best I've ever had.
For mains we had the lamb & chicken. Both had great flavor & we enjoyed them. The chicken was steaming when you cut into it. The sauce was delicious. One of the best meal experiences we have ever had. 10/10.
A gastronomique expérience not to beisdef when in Montreal! A lovely interior, attentive service (thank you Serge for offering us an exquisite service at the bar!), & the food...outstanding! A bouillabaisse to die for as you might find only in Marseille, a Niçoise salad enriched with seared to perfection tuna, & an eclair with rhubarb & lavender mousse that delights your palate..
We had a lovely experience here, even the chicken soup was just right! We loved our mocktails! The octopus was perfect. I never knew broccoli & quinoa could taste so good!
The staff checked in with us & the bartender was quite humorous. 😁
Monarque was absolutely phenomenal. We ended up eating there twice during our 5-day vacation. The tomato stracciatella salad was exquisite- I could not stop thinking about it for days. The staff was very knowledgeable about celiac disease & nearly everything could be made gluten free. I really enjoyed the Nordic shrimp salad. The cocktails were also exceptional. The second time we went, we sat at the bar, which was a fascinating experience. The bartender made drinks with the ingenuity of an artist & the precision of a surgeon. He was very kind & gave us tastes of some of the ingredients. We could not recommend Monarque more & cannot wait to come back during our next trip to Montreal!
Great location & nice space. There are two different menus b/t the Bar & dinning table for dinner. Only had the duck confite, a big dry to my taste but still better than many other places. Will come back to try different items next time in town.
Sat at the bar is the brasserie side. Make aure you have a reservation as it books up solid & there is no wait list for walk ins.
Steak frites & duck confit were absolutely amazing. Among the best, if not the best we have ever had. Grwat cheese & the pate / terrine / rillets were amazing. The bartender chose awesome wine pairings too. Gorgeous space as well.
We were a little reluctant about a spot in the touristy area, but so glad we went!
We came here for lunch on June 30. We had visited before & were happy with both the food & service, so this experience was really disappointing. The food was fine, but the service was not. The female server with a ponytail barely smiled & never checked on us once during the meal. The male server who cleared our plates & brought the bill was also quite rude, especially compared with how warmly he treated the table next to us. Is this really what service at a traditional French restaurant is supposed to be like?
Perfecto! Oysters, tuna tartare special, escargot on bone marrow, lamb shoulder too. All were excellent. Our bartender, Serge, was pleasant & professional. We recommend if in Montreal.
