Matcha Lab feels like a cute, inviting spot with quality matcha and tasty pastries, and the staff are friendly in a bright space that works well for study or casual visits; opinions vary on consistency and flavor strength, with some drinks fresh and well balanced while others seem milky or less vibrant, yet many reviewers praise the pastry quality and overall value and note mango and coconut options as highlights.
Went there yesterday, it says it was open on Google but when I arrived it was closed & the inside looked like it was abandoned, could've at least update it on Google. Instead it took me 1h to get there + in a small snow storm for nothing! Hopefully it will be open for real in the summer though
The owner is the sweetest lady. Bakes the cookies every morning from scratch. You can tell how much time & effort is put into them. Definitely will be coming back!!!
The coconut matcha I got was yummy, service was alright. The interior was a bit disappointing in my opinion & the vibes were a bit off. Maybe I just came at a bad time during the day, or since it opened recently? I think the ambiance needs a little refining, although I can see what they're going for. I think it would work better if the place was neater & with more simple music. I would come back to get a drink if I was in the area!
The first time, the matcha was excellent. It was fresh, vibrant, & probably the best I've had in a while. Two days later, I returned & got a very different drink. It seemed made with a cold plunge method, lacked freshness, & had a dull yellow/green color. The cup was mostly milk, which felt like milkcha than a matcha. At $8, it felt like I was paying for milk rather than a quality matcha. Consistency at this price point is important & unfortunately the second visit did not deliver.
The matcha pastries here were delicious! Both the cookie & donut had a wonderful, deep matcha flavor imparted. The actual matcha latte itself was a bit watered down & I had to ask them to add more for me to even taste the actual matcha itself.
Amazing bakery items. They have a good thing going & it just needs improvement or they will go crumbling down. THEY NEED TO PUT MORE MATCHA IN THEIR DRINKS. U cannot taste that matcha flavour AT ALL. I get it, matcha is expensive, but their name is literally'MATCHA LAB'. Plz guys don't let ur hard work go to waste & add more matcha in your drinks. Also more consistency in the measurements. Ppl won't come back for inconsistent & pale drinks.
I've tried two drinks so far: the matcha latte & matcha choco, & both were very good!! Very flavorful & tasty - I think the owners found a great balance between the matcha & the milk. Didn't try the pastries yet, but I definitely will later!! The decor is quite minimalistic; I just wish it could be a bit more cozy. Not too pricey either! I definitely recommend this place!
