STILL ONE OF THE BEST!
I've already given Marven's a 5-star review before, but I feel the need to update it because every time I come back with my family, the experience remains just as excellent. The service is consistently great, the staff is super friendly, & even though the place gets pretty crowded at times, the atmosphere stays warm & enjoyable. Plus, parking is never a hassle you can always find a spot around the block.
Now, let's talk about the food. We had the Lamb Chops, Salmon, Steak, Chicken, & of course their signature dish the Calamari with their famous Secret Sauce. Absolutely delicious! As always, the meal starts with some bread, followed by a salad of your choice, & then your main course.
The flavors never disappoint. My family & I enjoy every visit, & it has become one of our go-to spots for a satisfying meal.
If you haven't tried Marven's yet, I highly recommend it, you won't regret it!View more

This is for Marven's DELIVERY option via either UBER EATS or DOOR DASH!! I order the 2 porc souvlaki skewers with Greek salad, rice & potato. First the staff are great at getting the order done fast! Second the presentation is excellent, u feel like u are getting exactly what u would expect if a restaurant is treating u right when delivering food to u! the salad comes in it's own container, very nice looking, with a transparent lid allowing u to see the salad which is a nice touch, in a separate container, which again is very nice looking, u have the two pork skewers, potato wedges & rice nicely presented! The whole containers food presentation is excellent! Now the food, salad is fresh, large & excellent & comes with a lovely vinaigrette. The 2 pork souvlakis skewers are well cooked & tasty, the rice is perfect, the fries are tasty & perfectly cooked & u get a large serving of each. Add on a very tasty sauce that comes with it which adds a nice zest to the meal. So, excellent quick preparation for delivery, excellent presentation, generous portions & delicious! Highly recommend! The meal also comes with hot bread in tinfoil.View more

Nous avons passé un excellent moment dans votre restaurant. Le calmar était particulièrement savoureux & croustillant, un vrai délice ! Les crevettes étaient correctes, mais pourraient être un peu plus travaillées pour rehausser leur saveur. La salade, quant à elle, était délicieuse & bien assaisonnée, apportant une belle fraîcheur au repas.
Cependant, le riz était un peu trop huileux à notre goût, ce qui a légèrement altéré notre expérience culinaire.
Malgré ces petits détails, l'ambiance chaleureuse & le service impeccable ont vraiment fait la différence. Merci pour ce moment agréable & convivial. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir !View more

A must try restaurant in Montreal. Fried Calamari is amazing with their signature sauce, Greek salad, fries, or rice plus toasted bread. Generous size & probably will feed two people. Prices are still fair. We live in Ottawa, & every time we go to Montreal, it's our first stop.View more

It was my first time eating Greek food, & it was a pleasant surprise. Their food is delicious, all the dishes were very tasty & well served. In fact, we could only eat the salad & the fried calamari, one of the dishes we took home, as we didn't have any room in our stomachs. The service is fast, efficient, & very good. Payment must be made in cash, so keep that in mind if you go there. They have an ATM available on site, in case you need it. It was a great experience & I will definitely go back there & recommend the place.View more

Came here for an early lunch while in Montreal. This place has quite the reputation so we needed to try it out - & happy we did ! We had heard they are famous for their calamari but we didn't order that dish. I had the chicken souvlaki with a Caesar salad. Chicken was cooked perfectly! The open gyro plate was a hit as well - contained both chicken & beef. Both also cooked perfectly.View more

A deliciousy fresh meal & a great amount of food for the price. Make sure to have cash because it is cash only. The money spent gets a lot of food. Pictured is the two gyro plate with fries & rice which comes with a big Greek salad (with the best feta I've had in Montréal) & three pieces of garlic bread. I also ordered their platter of the calamari. Other reviews raved about the calamari & I see why: it is lightly fried & it is the largest portion of calamari I've ever seen. This meal for $52 could have fed two people & there still would have been leftovers.View more

I think this restaurant has gone downhill. I also prefer the pre Reno woodpanel 60s vibe. Music was too loud, but that could be a personal preference. one of the waiters (not ours) was talking about personal things with other waiters using vulgar language which was pretty low class (I wouldn't mind that if it was some sort of hole in the wall greasy spoon but I'm spending a hundred bucks on dinner I want a little bit of professionalism ). The Caesar salad was pretty pathetic (maybe a 2 on 10) & they gave us the main meal a minute or two after serving the salad (which would have been an issue if we had wanted to finish the salad but in this case it wasn't). I would not recommend the loose gyro plate, i found the cut to be too thick but that can be a personal preference. The lamb chops looked good but passed on that when tzatziki was an $8 add-on. In retrospect I probably should have splurged for the lamb chops & maybe this would have given a better experience.View more

Do not order their greek style whole chicken. Tasted boiled then bbq lightly. Barely seasoned. It was awful. We left 4 pieces & did not take the rest home. Yes that's how bad it was. Tzatziki is so so. Salad was pitiful, with soft feta. What remains good is their marvens sauce & good service. But that's not enough to beat competition which is not far from them, see my other review. Wish it was like before years back but it's lost its touch.View more

Ça fessait un ti-bout que j'avais manger à ce resto... déjà 20 ans que je connais l'endroit .... Moi personnellement , j'ai trouvé qu'il en non perdu calmars non croustillant,salade grecque fromage très mou & non appétissant ...À mon avis ils ont perdu leurs authenticité!! Fried calamari were decent but lacked tenderness. The meat was very salty & not very tender. Caesar salad: average . Greek salad: good. The service was perfect. It's a loud place so hearing my friends wasn't easy. The only beer is Greek & there is no alcohol free beer. Cash only.View more

Best Greek grill in Montreal, since 1973 ! We've been coming for years & never disappoints. The rib steak is truly amazing, tender & expertly grilled. It's served with sautéed mushrooms, chunky home fries, & a huge Greek salad. Honorable mentions & must-haves are also their lamb chops & abundant calamari. Special thanks to Jimmy & Peter, for the exceptional service. This is a landmark in Montreal, & truly worth a trip to Park Extension. There may be lineups, but it's worth it. Attentive service & amazing food. The place is pretty small for how popular they are, so expect at least a 20 minute wait during peak hours. The lamb chops are flavorful & tender. Calamari is just lightly breaded & crispy & fresh. Greek salad comes with a block of feta cheese & not just feta crumbles. Highly recommend their pork gyro pita. Very large portion we had so much leftover to bring home.View more

Classic Greek restaurant in Montreal. The fried calamari appetizer is very good & is enough to feed 4 people. I had the pork souvlaki. It was good but nothing extraordinary. I've had better souvlaki elsewhere. The complimentary bread was also not great. My friends ordered the lamb which was very good. Potato house fries are good as well. The rice & salad were average. Service was nice & fast. There are better Greek restaurants in Montreal in the plateau area but overall not a bad choice.View more

Holy, this place was very fast! The service was great, food came out quick. It's been a few years since I last came here -- the atmosphere is nice with the new updates. We ordered the calamari plate, the baby back ribs & the steak. The salad to start with was very filling we had the greek salad each. The steak with medium rare was cooked to perfection & the ribs were pretty good. In my opinion the rice was a bit bland & they give a lot of fries. Very filling & worth if you're looking for quantity & quality food.View more

Ordered here in the past for take out & the food is pretty good. Came in for lunch & the menu doesn't say what's included. The server didn't say anything but we asked & there was a choice of salad, rice or fries or both. I would maybe understand if it was busy but it was not. Also they only accepted cash during our visit.View more

If you grew up in the Montreal area, you know Marven's & the amazing staff ALWAYS delivers on their taste & friendly service. The ONLY reason it's missing 1 star even after their renovations is because of the A/C. If you get a chance to visit Marven's, here are the basics you gotta order: Ribsteak, Lamb chops & calamari. Quality of food has gone down extremely; especially their pita plates. They are willing to serve cold, overcooked meat stuffed into a pita that's mostly empty ... hardly any tomatoes, onions or tzatziki to help make the pita less dry. The Caesar salad was made with old wilted lettuce, the fries were limp & cold, as well as the rice. Used to be one of the best places to eat souvlaki, is now on my list to avoid. Service was mediocre, bus boy was the best out of everyone there. As well, the cash only policy needs to go; who carries cash nowadays, & why do they only want cash?
