Love the place for its steak & calamari. It's the best place in terms of quantity, quality, service & prices, which makes it a pearl nowadays! It feels cozy, almost like at a family dinner atmosphere, with everyone sitting close, speaking loudly, it's unpretentious, but food is served quickly & is excellent, waiters are very friendly. Expect a lineup if you go on the weekends in the evening (but totally worth the wait) & bring cash as they don't take any cards. There is an ATM machine however.View more

The food was really good! I enjoyed it & even though there was so many people in line, they still tried to ensure the clients didn't need anything & passed around to serve us whenever needed. They don't use cards so if you come, bring cash (or they have an atm downstairs). The meat was a bit more fatty than I remember & the bread they gave us were cold when they came to the table but it's all still good.View more

It was my first time eating Greek food, & it was a pleasant surprise. Their food is delicious, all the dishes were very tasty & well served. In fact, we could only eat the salad & the fried calamari, one of the dishes we took home, as we didn't have any room in our stomachs. The service is fast, efficient, & very good. Payment must be made in cash, so keep that in mind if you go there. They have an ATM available on site, in case you need it. It was a great experience & I will definitely go back there & recommend the place.View more

Not what it was 30 years ago. Waiter can be rough at times (pause). & cash only is a dead giveaway to whatever what ever it is one would be suspicious of. Used to live two buildings over on Ball on the same block. But you notice that about a lot of great restaurants in Montreal & that were peeking in the 90s to early 2000s. On top of that, with Uber/Skip/etc, cooks all over the place are given more work for the same wage. Not surprising, just a shame. Miss the days where you had to actually go to a place to get great food & delivery was (generally) for quick fast food like pizza or fried chicken. OK BYEView more

A deliciousy fresh meal & a great amount of food for the price. Make sure to have cash because it is cash only. The money spent gets a lot of food. Pictured is the two gyro plate with fries & rice which comes with a big Greek salad (with the best feta I've had in Montréal) & three pieces of garlic bread. I also ordered their platter of the calamari. Other reviews raved about the calamari & I see why: it is lightly fried & it is the largest portion of calamari I've ever seen. This meal for $52 could have fed two people & there still would have been leftovers.View more

Fried calamari were decent but lacked tenderness. The meat was very salty & not very tender. Caesar salad: average . Greek salad: good. The service was perfect. It's a loud place so hearing my friends wasn't easy. The only beer is Greek & there is no alcohol free beer. Cash only.View more

It's stuck in time that place. Don't get me wrong....good food but you have to go with the times. Kinda sketch when u don't accept any sort of credit or payment method other then cash. In the old days...sure cash was the way to go but in 2024...mmm. Overall it's good food.View more

We were for lunch but after the lunch rush! Totally recommended for the time & the food. Attn: CASH only. Food: flavors are on point, family meal flavors done right. Yes, price is high but portions are huge. We have to take some leftovers to-go. Calamari is a must but also huge so sharing among 2 or 3 friends is better. Steaks are also humongous, prepare your stomach well in advance. Sauce: traditional sweet & tomato-ey sauce on the table (see pics) are a must with calamari. Drink: Fix beer is a nice larger that would cut the greasiness from food. Vibe: small, cozy, wooden cottage vibe. Very familial & local. Super attentive waiters. Dine there & walk to parc Jarry for digestion on a nice sunny day will complete your afternoon with relaxation.View more

Best Greek grill in Montreal, since 1973 ! We've been coming for years & never disappoints. The rib steak is truly amazing, tender & expertly grilled. It's served with sautéed mushrooms, chunky home fries, & a huge Greek salad. Honorable mentions & must-haves are also their lamb chops & abundant calamari. Special thanks to Jimmy & Peter, for the exceptional service. This is a landmark in Montreal, & truly worth a trip to Park Extension. There may be lineups, but it's worth it. Impossibly crowded restaurant which, unfortunately , doesn't create a good first impression when you are waiting in the doorway for your table. Staff does a remarkable job trying to accommodate every arrival. The food is good, your basic chicken, pork, or lamb on a pita or in a platter, but I have to ask myself is it worth the wait? Cash only & no reservations makes little sense & seems to accommodate the owner more than the customers. Don't think I will be back for awhile.View more

I guess I have been living under a rock if I've never heard of Marven's! A hidden gem because the value is unbeatable. Huge portions & tasty. You have to try the calamari, crispy on the outside & tender in the inside. Every employee was so courteous & the one waiter was very hospitable. I am definitely coming back & telling everyone I know about this place. ***Only downside is that it's a cash only establishment.***View more

Best Greek restaurant in the Montreal area for sure! Everything is tasty & fresh. The portions are very big! They only take cash so you should think of withdrawing some before, but there's an ATM in the basement of the restaurant. Also it's a first come first sit kind of place, so during the busy times you're gonna have to wait, but the wait is worth! 5 stars to this place for the quality of the food & the great service!View more

Ordered here in the past for take out & the food is pretty good. Came in for lunch & the menu doesn't say what's included. The server didn't say anything but we asked & there was a choice of salad, rice or fries or both. I would maybe understand if it was busy but it was not. Also they only accepted cash during our visit.View more

Quality of food has gone down extremely; especially their pita plates. They are willing to serve cold, overcooked meat stuffed into a pita that's mostly empty ... hardly any tomatoes, onions or tzatziki to help make the pita less dry. The Caesar salad was made with old wilted lettuce, the fries were limp & cold, as well as the rice. Used to be one of the best places to eat souvlaki, is now on my list to avoid. Service was mediocre, bus boy was the best out of everyone there. As well, the cash only policy needs to go; who carries cash nowadays, & why do they only want cash?
