I've been here a few times-usually go for the Calamari & Lamb chops. Today, we tried the Steak, & I like it. It was tender, juicy, & cooked just the way we wanted. The portion was generous too.View more

STILL ONE OF THE BEST!
I've already given Marven's a 5-star review before, but I feel the need to update it because every time I come back with my family, the experience remains just as excellent. The service is consistently great, the staff is super friendly, & even though the place gets pretty crowded at times, the atmosphere stays warm & enjoyable. Plus, parking is never a hassle you can always find a spot around the block.
Now, let's talk about the food. We had the Lamb Chops, Salmon, Steak, Chicken, & of course their signature dish the Calamari with their famous Secret Sauce. Absolutely delicious! As always, the meal starts with some bread, followed by a salad of your choice, & then your main course.
The flavors never disappoint. My family & I enjoy every visit, & it has become one of our go-to spots for a satisfying meal.
If you haven't tried Marven's yet, I highly recommend it, you won't regret it!View more

*edit: unfortunately like many other good restaurants the food has changed here. Not sure if it's new chefs but the food doesn't even taste like Greek food anymore. Feels salty & tastes like heavily doused in Montreal steak spice & other strange flavors. The pitas aren't even wrapped properly, like someone who never made a pita before. It's sad because the service staff is so nice & it's a staple in the community. Hopefully it will get better again like to used to be.
Always the the best chicken/porc souvlaki & calamari. When most restaurants are giving smaller portions, lesser quality, Marvens doesn't change their portions, freshness & flavors! The service is always great at takeout . Keep it up!
Very tasty food. Even with the higher prices it's still ok because you're getting real food!
They need to wrap their pitas with wax paper or something. It's a wet mess! One layer of wrapping is not enough for takeout. But still yummy!
Been eating here for years...Porc souvlaki pita or stick is great! Big portion, good flavour & lean but soft. Calamari is great when it's hot & crispy & the oil doesn't taste fishy... same goes for the fries. Chicken gyro is very good too. The lamb gyro needs improvement...they need to slice it a lot thinner & it should be leaner. Overall would definitely recommend.View more

The service is quick & friendly. We ordered calamari, lamb chops & chicken souvlaki.
Calamari was a big portion, delicious & tender! Must get as everyone in the restaurant had a plate on their table. Lamb chops were also very good, moist & flavorful. The chicken souvlaki wasn't that great as I found it to be dry, wish I ordered the rib steak instead. Every table seemed to have gotten basket of bread but we didn't & we didn't realized until halfway through our meal.
Would come back next time we're in Montreal to try the steak & definitely back for the calamari!View more

I think this restaurant has gone downhill. I also prefer the pre Reno woodpanel 60s vibe. Music was too loud, but that could be a personal preference. one of the waiters (not ours) was talking about personal things with other waiters using vulgar language which was pretty low class (I wouldn't mind that if it was some sort of hole in the wall greasy spoon but I'm spending a hundred bucks on dinner I want a little bit of professionalism ). The Caesar salad was pretty pathetic (maybe a 2 on 10) & they gave us the main meal a minute or two after serving the salad (which would have been an issue if we had wanted to finish the salad but in this case it wasn't). I would not recommend the loose gyro plate, i found the cut to be too thick but that can be a personal preference. The lamb chops looked good but passed on that when tzatziki was an $8 add-on. In retrospect I probably should have splurged for the lamb chops & maybe this would have given a better experience.View more

I heard that this place was so good & they did not disappoint. Enjoyed the lamb chops. So flavorful & large portions. The calamari appetizer was surprisingly good - perfectly cooked & not the usual chewy squid texture.View more

Best Greek grill in Montreal, since 1973 ! We've been coming for years & never disappoints. The rib steak is truly amazing, tender & expertly grilled. It's served with sautéed mushrooms, chunky home fries, & a huge Greek salad. Honorable mentions & must-haves are also their lamb chops & abundant calamari. Special thanks to Jimmy & Peter, for the exceptional service. This is a landmark in Montreal, & truly worth a trip to Park Extension. There may be lineups, but it's worth it. Attentive service & amazing food. The place is pretty small for how popular they are, so expect at least a 20 minute wait during peak hours. The lamb chops are flavorful & tender. Calamari is just lightly breaded & crispy & fresh. Greek salad comes with a block of feta cheese & not just feta crumbles. Highly recommend their pork gyro pita. Very large portion we had so much leftover to bring home.View more

Classic Greek restaurant in Montreal. The fried calamari appetizer is very good & is enough to feed 4 people. I had the pork souvlaki. It was good but nothing extraordinary. I've had better souvlaki elsewhere. The complimentary bread was also not great. My friends ordered the lamb which was very good. Potato house fries are good as well. The rice & salad were average. Service was nice & fast. There are better Greek restaurants in Montreal in the plateau area but overall not a bad choice.View more

Impossibly crowded restaurant which, unfortunately , doesn't create a good first impression when you are waiting in the doorway for your table. Staff does a remarkable job trying to accommodate every arrival. The food is good, your basic chicken, pork, or lamb on a pita or in a platter, but I have to ask myself is it worth the wait? Cash only & no reservations makes little sense & seems to accommodate the owner more than the customers. Don't think I will be back for awhile.View more
