Good to be back in Montreal & needed my fix of good Greek food. I decided to try Marven's because of their Google Maps score & it did not disappoint. Perfect Montreal Greek style with char-grilled bread, authentic tzatziki with lots of garlic, & terrific souvlaki plate with high quality ingredients (feta, pork, rice, tomatoes, etc). Their signature Marven's sauce was a surprise - really tasty - I tried it sparingly at first & then ended up pouring it all over my plate 😂. The service & atmosphere were also excellent.

I had an amazing experience at Marven's - easily one of Montréal's best spots for hearty, authentic Greek food. The portions are generous & everything tastes freshly grilled: their lamb chops, mixed grill platter & souvlaki come out juicy & full of flavor. The vibe inside is warm & welcoming, almost like a cozy family tavern, & the staff are friendly & efficient. On top of that, the prices are reasonable for what you get, & the ambiance - with wood?fire grills & rustic decor - adds to the charm. If you're craving comfort food & a filling meal with great hospitality, Marven's is definitely worth the visit.

Marven's is a Park Extension institution that has been serving Montrealers delicious Greek food since 1973. This family-run restaurant is known for its warm atmosphere, tasty dishes, & legendary portions.
The menu features succulent fish & meat dishes, with their steaks, souvlaki, & titanic mixed grill platter being particular favorites. The portions are so generous that they've become a talking point among diners. Few patrons are aware, but the secret sauce is that most all foods on the menu are grilled to perfection on a wood burning fire pit.
Be prepared to wait for a table, especially on weekends, as this popular spot draws a crowd eager to experience Marven's charm; whether it's their first time or 20th!

Best calamari in town!!! The chicken souvlaki on pita is also good but not to the same level as the calamari. Parking in the street can be difficult & best to arrive early if going for dinner because on the weekends their is a lineup outside. Also you can only pay by cash so make sure you bring cash.

No frills, packed on a Sunday night & i get why. Portions are huge, service fast & food is tasty. Its a bang for your buck. Not your typical souvlaki stick, its more brochette size, big chunks of marinated chicken, tasty rice & greek salad. Next time we will do a pikilia & some other apps. Im already looking forward to our return.

*edit: unfortunately like many other good restaurants the food has changed here. Not sure if it's new chefs but the food doesn't even taste like Greek food anymore. Feels salty & tastes like heavily doused in Montreal steak spice & other strange flavors. The pitas aren't even wrapped properly, like someone who never made a pita before. It's sad because the service staff is so nice & it's a staple in the community. Hopefully it will get better again like to used to be.
Always the the best chicken/porc souvlaki & calamari. When most restaurants are giving smaller portions, lesser quality, Marvens doesn't change their portions, freshness & flavors! The service is always great at takeout . Keep it up!
Very tasty food. Even with the higher prices it's still ok because you're getting real food!
They need to wrap their pitas with wax paper or something. It's a wet mess! One layer of wrapping is not enough for takeout. But still yummy!
Been eating here for years...Porc souvlaki pita or stick is great! Big portion, good flavour & lean but soft. Calamari is great when it's hot & crispy & the oil doesn't taste fishy... same goes for the fries. Chicken gyro is very good too. The lamb gyro needs improvement...they need to slice it a lot thinner & it should be leaner. Overall would definitely recommend.

This is for Marven's DELIVERY option via either UBER EATS or DOOR DASH!! I order the 2 porc souvlaki skewers with Greek salad, rice & potato. First the staff are great at getting the order done fast! Second the presentation is excellent, u feel like u are getting exactly what u would expect if a restaurant is treating u right when delivering food to u! the salad comes in it's own container, very nice looking, with a transparent lid allowing u to see the salad which is a nice touch, in a separate container, which again is very nice looking, u have the two pork skewers, potato wedges & rice nicely presented! The whole containers food presentation is excellent! Now the food, salad is fresh, large & excellent & comes with a lovely vinaigrette. The 2 pork souvlakis skewers are well cooked & tasty, the rice is perfect, the fries are tasty & perfectly cooked & u get a large serving of each. Add on a very tasty sauce that comes with it which adds a nice zest to the meal. So, excellent quick preparation for delivery, excellent presentation, generous portions & delicious! Highly recommend! The meal also comes with hot bread in tinfoil.

The service is quick & friendly. We ordered calamari, lamb chops & chicken souvlaki.
Calamari was a big portion, delicious & tender! Must get as everyone in the restaurant had a plate on their table. Lamb chops were also very good, moist & flavorful. The chicken souvlaki wasn't that great as I found it to be dry, wish I ordered the rib steak instead. Every table seemed to have gotten basket of bread but we didn't & we didn't realized until halfway through our meal.
Would come back next time we're in Montreal to try the steak & definitely back for the calamari!

Came here for an early lunch while in Montreal. This place has quite the reputation so we needed to try it out - & happy we did ! We had heard they are famous for their calamari but we didn't order that dish. I had the chicken souvlaki with a Caesar salad. Chicken was cooked perfectly! The open gyro plate was a hit as well - contained both chicken & beef. Both also cooked perfectly.

Déçu de ma dernière visite ! Pourtant j'ai visité ce resto avec la famille & les amis pendant des décennies ! Seule bonne nouvelle est que les calmars frits sont aussi bons qu'autrefois (pourquoi 3 étoiles au lieu de 2) ! Mauvaise nouvelle, les souvlakis pitas poulets étaient carrément affreux, pas assez de condiments & trop de viande qui n'avait pas vraiment bon goût ! Sommes nous tombés sur le mauvais jour/heure ? Heureusement, il y a une multitude de très bons restos grecs maintenant partout au Québec !

Always an amazing experience & a.l.w.a.y.s good food. Pork souvlaki is a must, fried calamari is a must. That vinegar red sauce is just wow. Love that place, went back this week after 5 years & its still as good as i remember. Tzatziki is amazing too! Service is nice, atmosphere is okay but that is not why you come there, & to be honest, its one of this restaurant trait - come here, eat good, drink good, nice people. Thats what they do & thats what they deliver. Making a good job since the first time i went there while i was in highschool. Good job to the whole team! Oh & its really affordable making it a must👌

J'ai été impressionné par la qualité & la fraîcheur des ingrédients utilisés. De plus, le gâteau au fromage était un pur délice, une fin parfaite pour un repas mémorable. Classic Greek restaurant in Montreal. The fried calamari appetizer is very good & is enough to feed 4 people. I had the pork souvlaki. It was good but nothing extraordinary. I've had better souvlaki elsewhere. The complimentary bread was also not great. My friends ordered the lamb which was very good. Potato house fries are good as well. The rice & salad were average. Service was nice & fast. There are better Greek restaurants in Montreal in the plateau area but overall not a bad choice.

Long wait to be seated but completely worth it. The souvlaki is cooked to perfection & spiced beautifully (pork & chicken). We saw everyone ordering the calamari starter (which is quite literally a mountain of calamari on a plate) so we ordered as well & found out why (spoiler alert: tasty!). & the tzatziki! It's like ambrosia! I could eat it with anything & everything; it's that good. Finally, the wait staff were timely, attentive, & kind despite the full house.

Average pork souvlaki, meat was overcooked & dry, rice was just ok, the salad came with no dressing. The calamari was good but overall too expensive for the quality
