Les calamars frits et les côtelettes d'agneau, le souvlaki et les plats de steak grillé, accompagnés de pita et de salade grecque avec tzatziki maison, reviennent fréquemment comme des classiques du menu, tout comme la sauce secrète qui ajoute une touche appréciée. Bien que l'enthousiasme soit majoritaire, la fréquentation peut générer des files d'attente, surtout le week-end, et l'établissement fonctionne en grande partie en espèces avec un distributeur sur place; ce n'est pas idéal pour tous, et quelques critiques signalent des améliorations possibles au niveau de l'organisation en période d'affluence ou du confort. Dans l'ensemble, l'expérience reste chaleureuse et rassurante, caractérisée par des portions généreuses et des plats bien travaillés qui en font une destination régulière pour ceux qui recherchent de la nourriture grecque authentique et abordable dans une ambiance familiale.
Pros: Very delicious fried calamari (one of the best!). The food is tasty & the portions are generous-I often see people asking for boxes to take their leftovers. Great prices!
Cons: Cash only, but there's an ATM downstairs if I remember correctly. There was a long lineup every time we went. Sometimes it smells a bit, & when it's your turn to eat, the people waiting in line tend to watch you eat, which can be a bit unpleasant. They might even stare & drool while you're eating, so you end up enjoying your food even more right in front of a very hungry audience.
Like many Montrealers, I've been many time to this landmark numerous times before. I ordered the calamari appetizer. Normally top notch, this time around, it was just ok. Mainly because the frying oil needed replacement & as a result, it tasted burnt. The gyros plate was excellent. Like the calamari, the fries tasted off. It was soft outside & mushy inside. I will return but less often just to try other Greek restaurants in the area.

Lots of hype ...lots of positive reviews from others...but today I guess was a bad day at this establishment...my gyro pita(meat)was dry burnt tomatoes were cut in cubes no juice ..the head of the tomatoe ...the part you throw in the trash ..& they serve that .very poor tight cheap . disrespectful.humbs down .. luckly the waiter somewhat save the outing
Been coming to Marvens for many years, it's nice to see the familiar faces of the staff. They have excellent service, very clean place & giant portions. We've been visiting regularly for those delicious calamari, & lambchops, I think it's become our go to for delicious food. The prices are great, & you really have a fantastic atmosphere in there. The service is unmatched. They are always friendly, quick, & attentive. I've never had issues at marvens, feels like going home for a great a meal.

My absolute favorite, when it comes to Greek food. Have been enjoying their meals for over 40 years. Consistent, high quality food, generous portions, priced right. Pleasant staff.
My family & I have been eating at Marven's for about seven to eight years now. Everytime we come to the restaurant I always get nostalgic about all the good times we have had there since I was a young boy. Marven's has always been a place where my family & I can come to enjoy amazing food & share laughs. The service is amazing, as soon as you walk through the doors you instantly get greeted by their amazing servers, not as another paying customer but as a guest in their'home'. Server's are always quick on their feet, the food always comes out in perfect intervals so as you finish eating their bread & tzatziki sauce, the salads & appetizers come out & after the main course. (They have it down to a tee). The food is phenomenal, from their delicious greek salad, to their crispy fried calamari, the juicy tender lamb chops, their pitas, chicken skewers & especially their amazingly juicy rib eye steak.
I don't usually leave reviews for restaurants but marven's has always been there for my family & I so I had to help them grow & attract more guests in hopes that those guests can build a relationship & memories with this restaurant such as I have.
Food was good & portions are very generous. However, they don't take reservations & you have to wait in line. While waiting, there's an unpleasant urine smell coming from the men urinals downstairs. Parking is also difficult, especially on snow removal days. They take cash only. For those reasons, it wouldn't be my usual go-to Greek restaurant.
