I'm giving this restaurant this low of a rate because of customer service. Our server was just plain rude & he looks like he didn't even want to work there. My boyfriend saw him have the same interaction with the table next to us. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We enjoyed most of the food except the steak. I ordered medium rare as usual but I find the steak very chewy compared to the other steak I have tried.
I've been to Marcus countless times over the years, easily over 50 visits. The food has always been outstanding, the atmosphere beautiful.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit left me completely disgusted. I personally witnessed wine from a bottle that had been purchased by one table being poured into another bottle, apparently to later be sold by the glass.
I immediately spoke to management & expressed how shocked & disappointed I was. What concerned me even more was that the response I received suggested this was a known issue that they were'trying to resolve' !!!
I struggle to see what benefit a server would gain from doing something like this on their own, which raises even more questions. As a loyal customer who has supported Marcus for years, seeing something like this firsthand has seriously damaged my trust.
It's particularly disappointing because the food & service have always been exceptional. I never expected to leave feeling this way about a restaurant I have enjoyed for so many years.
Drinks excellents, barmaid & barman très gentils & de bons conseils! Nous avons seulement partagé une entrée d'agneau, mais elle était savoureuse, ça donne le goût d'y retourner pour explorer le menu davantage.
Merci à l'hôtesse de nous avoir installés à la petite table intime derrière le bar, nous avions l'impression d'être seule au monde, c'était super pour se retrouver en amoureux
Belle expérience entre amies, c'est bon on y mange pour pas cher, pratique lors de la F1. Les portions sont correctes. Voir en image :)
Très décevant comme restaurant. On paye plus de 500$ à deux pour des plats qui manquent énormément de gout & avec des portions très petites. On se fait dire qu'il''manque de pain'' (?) & on se fait seulement servir de l'huile d'olive pour tremper le pain sans vinaigre balsamique (assez bizzare comme accompagnement). Le tartare de saumon est chaud & goutte absolument rien. Le seul plat qui s'est démarqué a été le dessert. À la fin, 18% de''tip'' est inclus malgré un service qui est loin d'être exceptionnel & on se fait dire que d'habitude on peut pas séparer le bill à plus que 2 mais que ce soir là ils ont plus de temps donc ils vont le séparer à tout notre groupe (un restaurant''recommandé Michelin'' qui n'est pas capable de séparer des factures c'est assez gênant). L'emplacement du restaurant est vraiment exceptionnel mais je ne comprendrai jamais comment ils ont pu être recommandé Michelin. Pour le tier de ce prix, il y a des dizaines de restaurants à Montréal qui sont de bien meilleure qualité, avec des meilleures portions, plus de gout & un bien meilleur service.
I had such an exquisite dining experience here. I made a reservation for the chef's tasting at the chef's counter, & from the moment I arrived, the team already knew my name & immediately seated me.
Sitting at the counter gives you an intimate view into everything happening in the kitchen. The energy was fast-paced & precise-it honestly felt like I was inside an episode of The Bear.
The chef curated an incredible five-course tasting, & the sommelier paired each course with wines that complemented everything perfectly. I won't even try to list every dish because I honestly don't remember them all. The menu isn't fixed, & I imagine each experience is a little different. I was too busy enjoying every bite & soaking in the experience to focus on memorizing details.
Ken took exceptional care of me from start to finish, making sure I was comfortable & that every course met the moment. The chef also came over to chat, which made the experience feel even more personal.
The bar was already high, & Marcus exceeded it.
