I absolutely recommend this place, you won't regret it.
All the items were delicious. Freshly made. The owner is really sweet. 100% Recommended.
My friends & I came all the way from Toronto to explore Montreal, & we found this hidden gem! I had amazing Bangladeshi food here - especially the beef tehari & roast pulao. The seasoning was perfect. I highly recommend trying their food if you're looking for authentic Bangladeshi & Asian cuisine 👌👌👌
Amazing food & great hospitality. I tried the beef Biryani & it was one of the best 👌 I highly recommend
Authentic flavors paired with excellent hospitality. Highly recommended!
**Disappointed After High Expectations**
I had high expectations for this Bangladeshi restaurant in Montreal after hearing good things & seeing positive reviews, especially from the Bangladeshi community. Unfortunately, it seems like as the restaurant has become more popular, the quality of the food has declined.
I ordered 2 beef tehari, but it was overwhelmingly spicy & contained over 10 pieces of dried prunes in a single plate, which was excessive. On a previous visit, I had tried the roast & found it excellent, but this time the two pieces I ordered smelled more like tandoori smoked legs than authentic roast. The test was like old.
The beef kebab was decent but not something I would recommend. Honestly, the only thing that met expectations was the Canada Dry.
Overall, my expectations were not met. It's disappointing to see a place let their food quality slip after achieving some success.
I still believe this restaurant has quality foods.
Very cozy place with friendly staff. Recommended for anyone looking for home-made style Bangladeshi food made with care.
I highly recommend this restaurant . Food quality always amazing. I often order from Uber Eats & when I call them for something specific & amazing lady answers me & sometimes call me back to make sure of my order. My mom loves their food as well. Really appreciated.
The food was incredible! We ordered the chicken biryani & beef tehari-both were freshly made & full of flavor. The dishes reminded me of the home-cooked meals I grew up with in my Bengali family. We also got payesh to go, & it was lovely. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Bengali cuisine! :)
Its famous for the quality food it serves!
Its open 24/7.
The food is very fresh & tasty.
We ordered Roast Polau. It was freshly made & superb.
Also, when we got there was no kebab. But then the owner cooked for us. She is very cordial & friendly. She will make her guest feel welcome.
She is very generous also gifted us a dessert.
Overall its a fantastic restaurant. This is Bangladeshi origin. Highly recommended.
A Hidden Gem in Montreal - A Taste of Bangladesh!
We traveled from Ottawa for a day trip to Montreal & chose Moonstar based on its high rating. At first glance, the entrance & décor might seem a bit underwhelming, but trust us-once you taste the food, you'll understand why this place is so highly rated.
The flavors took us straight back to Bangladesh, especially the biye bari r roast polau, which was perfectly spiced & incredibly comforting. We also had the tehari & haleem, both bursting with rich, traditional flavors. Every dish felt like a nostalgic trip home.
All in all, highly recommended-this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine in Montreal!
Took the goat meat plate & it was delicious. Plus, they're open 24h/7 & the quality even at 1am was great. Recommended.
Love the food here. Authentic Bangladeshi flavours. I've tried all the menu items & every dish I tried was packed with taste. The owners were super friendly. Highly recommend!?
Great traditional Bengali food options & very friendly people working, definitely recommend
We had sehri at Marche Moon Star a couple of night ago. 3 of us got the sehri platter (we chose chicken curry, shorshe ilish & beef bot as the proteins, alongside rice, daal, 2 types of bhorta, mixed vegetable & salad) & 1 of us got roast polao dish. The food was super tasty & fresh. We even got complimentary fruit & desserts from the owner & discounted price for the meal. The service is amazing as well. They are open 24/7 for the whole month of Ramadan. Highly recommended!!
I stumbled across this store by accident, & it has been an incredible experience so far. I have become a regular here, since they cater for midnight owls like me.
Recommended dishes :
- Polao Roast ( Generally 9.3/10 rating )
- Beef Tehari ( Generally 9.1/10 )
- Sheri combo is nice, usually has 3 varieties. (8.7/ 10)
- Tandoori chicken usually maintain more flavour than general montreal tadoori chicken ( 9.1/10)
-Kheer ( this item is unreal, 11/ 10)
If you want food that tastes like Bengali food is mean to taste like, this is a must try!!
Our go to spot in Montreal for Bangladeshi food. Highly recommended.
Somocha & khir are one of the best things i have ever tasted, I would definitely recommend!
