MAKAō transcends being just a restaurant, offering an unforgettable experience that ignites curiosity, tantalizes the palate, and transports you to a realm where the East seamlessly unites with the West in exquisite harmony.
Relish the deep, rich traditions of Asian cuisine—the flavors and techniques developed over centuries—and let them also introduce you to the bold innovations that characterize modern Western cooking.
Nestled in the heart of Montreal’s Chinatown, MAKAŌ is the ultimate destination for those seeking an authentic and immersive cultural experience.
MAKAO delivers a stylish, intimate dining experience with bold fusion flavors and a strong emphasis on service. Reviews consistently praise attentive, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere, along with chic decor, moody lighting and a vibe that suits dates and celebrations. The menu features Asian and European fusion, with many praising items like ceviche, salmon tartare, crispy rock shrimp, dumplings, and other small plates for freshness and presentation, while a few mains and rice or noodle dishes receive mixed reactions for seasoning or value. Oysters and cocktails are often highlighted as standouts, though some guests note online promotions and menu changes can be confusing. The overall consensus is that the experience is enjoyable and many would return to try more dishes and enjoy the ambiance, even as a minority of reviews point to inconsistency in depth of flavor or portions relative to price.
The food & drinks were filled with flavours, some of which I haven't had before! The surf & turf was a great portion, steak cooked just how I asked, & tender juicy lobster. Delphine was a great, friendly, & funny server. Was visiting Montreal but home to be back not just to the city but to Maka?!

Delphine was incredible. She was so kind & accommodating. The lychee martinis were delicious. The vibe in the restaurent was chic & contemporary, with an upbeat music curation. I highly recommend this restaurant for bang-bang shrimp. Delectable menu options in the Chinatown area! Definitely check out this restaurant for your Montreal experience.
The food was alright lacking flavour but the service was amazing. The host was very accommodating after not like the spot of our table, he still managed to get us a better table on the busiest night ever. The environment was very nice & cosy. Great for pictures.
Food was alright, although overpriced, at least the staff made the night worth it. We had a late reservation at 23h because of how packed it was for valentine's day, but the staff was very friendly with us & made sure we had an amazing time !

Meh.... First time at this restaurant, will not go again or recommend. The food was flavorless to ok max. The cocktails tasted like there was barely any alcohol in them. The atmosphere was a bust as well. Tables are cramped together & the aile to walk back & forward in the restaurant was right behind your seat.
Another review said it perfectly = an attempt to appear upscale.
The service was just ok, the waitress explained the menu like it was a race & the rest of the service felt very awkward. She was still very polite & nice... but nonetheless awkward. At first we thought the prices might be ok, but the lack of flavor made it seem like a waist of our money & time. Very disappointed, good marketing though on Instagram .... cuz it really fooled us !
Très bonne ambiance conviviale & joviale, la serveuse a su très bien nous conseiller. Nous avons passé un moment exceptionnel & les plats étaient très bons.
Very nice place.. Small & cosy.. Music wasn't too loud which I was really happy with. I got the Japanese bed sheet cocktail & I loved it. As for meal we took all the appetizers plus a truffles fries & were able to share in 4. My only negative point, dessert selection. Otherwise Totally recommend
