Very quaint & lovely place to spend the night. The owners were sweet, friendly & went above & beyond for us during our stay. Dinner at the pub was delicious, the drinks were excellent & dessert was a real treat! The free breakfast included with our stay was hearty & comforting on a cold winter morning. We will definitely be back for a stay in the summer!

Première fois au Mac Taverne depuis leur ouverture. Malheureusement, j'ai eu droit à un service assez sec, je me suis presque sentie de trop, alors qu'il y avait seulement 4-5 personnes assises sur place. Le serveur au bar n'était pas aidant.
Je n'ai que visité le pub pour y manger, mais une belle expérience. Le menu n'est pas vaste, mais tout ce que nous avons pu mettre nos mains dessus était excellent! Ne pas quitter sans goûter au Sticky Toffee Pudding!!!
Quel incroyable restaurant! Nous y avons été accueillis comme des rois pour notre party de Noël. Un menu très spécial & chaleureux nous a été concocté. Inutile de vous dire à quel point c'était délicieux. Personnel très sympathique & chaleureux pour couronner le tout. Je recommande fortement!

Les chambres sont très confortable & propre.
Tellement un bel endroit, chaleureux & super service. Nous avons partagé plusieurs plats & tout était délicieux. Repas réconfortant. A essayer absolument! Un incontournable à Val-David!
An Unforgettable Stay at the Mactavern! Already Can't Wait to Return
My partner & I escaped to Val-David for a snowy weekend of relaxation & exploring, & our stay at the Mactavern was nothing short of incredible.
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the staff. After dropping off our bags, we were greeted by two of the four owners-warm, genuine, & excited to show us around their beautiful (new) space. The location is perfect: just a short walk from the quaint village shops & right in front of the river, whose gentle stream you can hear from the auberge. It's the kind of atmosphere that instantly makes you exhale.
Naturally, we wandered into the restaurant, where the crackling wood oven in the corner set the perfect cozy ambiance & the host offered a warm blanket. It was perfect as the first layer of snow settled outside. Soon after, we were introduced to Mike & Tim, the brother duo & creative forces behind the kitchen (Mike) & the drinks (Tim). Their passion shows in everything they do, this is truly a place for foodies, by foodies.
We began with two hot cider drinks & a crisp lager, which paired beautifully with the perfect fish & chips, flaky, cooked just right, with cold peas that balanced the dish perfectly. As our second courses made their way to the table, I noticed Tim warming our plates on the wood oven. They think of everything, & that care shows in every detail.
Then came the steak & linguine. All we can say is wowwww. The steak was phenomenal, & the peppercorn au jus was honestly the best I've ever had.
From the food to the ambiance to the heartfelt hospitality, the entire experience at the Mactavern was unforgettable. Thank you to the whole team for an exceptional stay. We can't wait to come back.

We recently visited MacTavern with a group of friends celebrating multiple birthdays & was blown away by the experience. The food was absolutely amazing-fresh, flavourful, & clearly made with care. Tell Tim at the bar what you like & he will whip you up an amazing cocktail based on what you like. The cozy atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax & celebrate! The staff were warm, attentive, & genuinely welcoming.
We also all stayed overnight, & the rooms were fantastic-clean, incredibly comfortable. The bed was perfect for a great night's sleep, & the breakfast in the morning was just as impressive as the dinner: delicious, well-prepared, & a great start to the day. I can't wait to go back!
Best place in the area! The MacTavern makes you feel at home. Drinks are ALL great & the Welsh Rarebit leaves me wordless everytime.
The Scotch egg & the Fish & Chips are also big winners to me.
J'avais réservé mon 5 à 7 de retraite à cet endroit & nous étions installé dans leur salle privée, tout fraîchement terminée! Très belle salle où nous y avions notre service de bar avec un menu cocktail pour'retraitée'. J'ai apprécié cette belle initiative personnalisée. Les cocktails étaient délicieux. Nous nous sommes ensuite installés dans le restaurant où la nourriture était excellente! Service excellent aussi. Nous y retournerons assurément.

My partner & I spent a night here & enjoyed every moment. This family run establishment does it right - from the cocktails & homemade cider to everything that's cooking in the kitchen.
The food was delicious. The scotch egg, fish & chips, & steak were our favorites, but we loved everything we tried.
Our room came with a massive tub that did not disappoint. We got to explore the surrounding area & come back for cozy bites in between.
1000/10 would recommend! A great family running an exceptional business 💯
