Très belle expérience ! La nourriture était vraiment excellente & l'équipe est super. Les jeunes sont souriants, efficaces & attentionnés. Une très belle soirée, je recommande fortement !
The fish in chips were so well done & the steak was cooked perfectly & a great treat. A great by the glass wine offering & beer list was spot on. The service is perfect, attentive, kind & efficient. All around such a lovely place!
MacTaverne exceeded our already high expectations. After an incredible first visit for cocktails, we returned for dinner & weren't disappointed. The owner Tim & the bartenders, Charles, were warm, welcoming, & genuinely passionate about what they do, creating an atmosphere that makes you want to linger & come back again. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy & sophisticated.
The food was exceptional. The steak frites were cooked perfectly, the salad was fresh with a light yet incredibly flavourful dressing, & every dish reflected the same attention to detail we'd experienced on our first visit.
The cocktails remain a standout & are among the best we've had....ever! The highlight of the evening was an Irish coffee unlike any I've experienced. The silky mousse used instead of traditional whipped cream was brilliant twist that elevated a classic into something truly memorable. It was, without question, a next-level Irish coffee.
MacTaverne was an elevated cocktail & dining experience but set in a warm amd welcoming setting. I'm already planning my return.
5/5. One of the best restaurants! What is there not to love - spectacular food (from drinks to main to desserts), wonderful service, beautiful peaceful & picturesque location. Second year now that we've made a reso on our yearly trip to Val David - will continue this tradition!
This place is an absolute gem! The setting alone is worth the visit : stunning terrace with a beautiful view on the river. The staff were all super welcoming.
We had the mocktails of the moment, which were refreshing, creative, & honestly SO SO SO good! The food was absolutely mouth-watering. We tried the Scotch egg, fish & chips, linguine, & steak, & everything was WONDERFUL. The desserts tasted so great too. This place is a MUST-TRY! All in all, beautiful setting, amazing food, & wonderful service. Can't ask for any better honestly. We'll definitely be back & we definitely recommend this place to everyone passing by
Food is passable owner Tim & staff feel there is something more than meets the eye. Unattentive aloof & not Professional is what you will receive. Mistake on ordered item not acknowledged. Pitiful. Food was fine at 200 w tax for 2 beers, rose glass wine, & 2 coke, one app egg scotch, one wing half, one burger, one fish chip one piri chicken. They failed on the Piri chicken since it was clearly microwaved. Rice which was reheated was dry. Burger delicious at $26 but pricey. Very limited menu with tons of staff excusing themseves for being overwhelmed & in fact are over staffed with 9 total workers & dining room of 33 seats *without including the porch*. Owner Tim kept insisting private party was the reason for short comings. Rating of 4.9 on google is a true exageration... Owner Tim in particular was confrontational & defensive as you can see in his response. Most 1 star reviews here are about the exact thing in this review. POOR service, limited menu. Find something else anywhere... somewhere else in this town. Dont deserve tourist dollar or locals
