Amazing food! Highly recommend the seafood linguini, it's to die for!
Lucca in Little Italy was our first dinner in Montréal. It set the bar high for everything that followed.
The place was packed on arrival - reservation recommended. The menu is concise & confident, with daily specials worth paying attention to.
We started with three appetizers. The calamari was crispy with the perfect crunch - a strong opener. The grilled octopus was well executed, cut & served over a purée. Delicious, though I would have loved more octopus & less accompaniment. The standout of the three was the zucchini blossoms - a daily special, filled with creamy ricotta. Heavenly bites that only appear in spring. Order them without hesitation if they're on.
For mains, the lamb chops surprised me. I don't typically enjoy lamb - the gamey taste usually puts me off. Not here. Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavourful, & not a trace of gaminess. A genuine convert moment. We also shared a half order of the seafood linguine - perfectly cooked pasta with shrimp, scallops, & mussels. Exactly what it should be.
Dessert was the tiramisu & pistachio gelato. The gelato in particular - rich, creamy, & the kind of thing you'll think about all summer.
An incredible meal from start to finish. Lucca is a must when visiting Montréal.

Lucca was one of our favourites for a special occasion, & loved by myself, someone who has lived in the neighbourhood for 12 years. I'm sorry to write this review, but the most recent time we went, we had a bad experience.
The restaurant is tight, & unfortunately a waiter stood in the one foot of space between us & the table beside us three times during our meal, each time having a long conversation with the patrons who must have been his friends. We spent about 1/3rd of the time with this guys ass almost on our table. We didn't say anything the first two times this happened, but the third we indicated he was in our space. He didn't move to the other side of the table, where there was lots of room, until we asked our waiter to ask him to move.
I understand this is a local spot. I get it. But we felt disrespected by this behaviour. When you go to a nice restaurant, a part of that is for a nice experience. The rest of the staff clearly work hard to provide good service. But still, this negatively affected a nice reunion/mother's day dinner & we won't be returning. Management was mostly understanding, but regardless of how nice this waiter usually is (which the manager made a point to mention as I discussed our experience with him), the waiter himself never apologized to us. He didn't even move, & we shouldn't have to interrupt our dinner to deal with this situation, to tell someone our space is being invaded. The worst part is that it soured a special occasion, which is exactly what you're trying to avoid when you choose a reputable place.
Everything was great. Food was great, our waiter was very nice. Definitely recommend for authentic italian dinne
A beautifully relaxed lunch at Luca - the kind of place that feels effortlessly alive.
The space is intimate, yet filled with a soft buzz of conversation & warmth. Sunlight, fresh flowers, & the gentle rhythm of service set the tone the moment you walk in.
We started with a comforting soup & perfectly crisp calamari, followed by a rich, creamy pasta that felt both indulgent & refined. The grilled chicken was simple but executed just right - tender, juicy, & full of flavor. Paired with a glass of red, everything came together seamlessly.
It's not a large space, but that's exactly its charm - lively, welcoming, & quietly elegant. A spot that doesn't try too hard, yet gets everything right. Definitely one to return to.
