Review Summary

Les Pyrenées is widely celebrated as a charming destination in Old Montreal that offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and high-quality French and Catalan-inspired cuisine, with many diners highlighting the beef cheeks, paella, and onion soup as standout dishes. While the majority of visitors praise the attentive, professional service and the restaurant's ability to accommodate dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian options, a minority of guests have reported inconsistent experiences regarding service speed during peak hours and varying opinions on the authenticity and preparation of certain traditional plates. Overall, the restaurant remains a popular choice for both special occasions and casual dining, often noted for its beautiful terrace and the genuine hospitality provided by the staff and management.

Top flight restaurant with upscale dishes that are well prepared & served by very professional servers. I had the cassoulet which was delicious & hearty. The sausage is made in house & is exactly as it should be. My partner enjoyed the trout as well as a very nice dessert.

We walked in while strolling the street so I'm not sure how parking works in the area. Our server was thoroughly professional & very congenial. I regret that I won't be in town for a return visit, but I most surely will return when I'm in the region again.

What a gem. Hard to find a good Spanish restaurant in Montreal but this has passed my expectations. Plates are well balanced, properly cooked, & feature some great Catalunya choices. Very friendly staff, not a long wait for dishes. It was a wonderful birthday dinner!

My wife & I were visiting Montreal & looking for Vegetarian friendly restaurants. What attracted us to this menu was that they had a small section of specific vegetarian dishes. & very interesting choices. Great atmosphere & service topped it all off.

Sophisticated food with a casual & comfortable atmosphere! This restaurant was a happy surprise after a long day of travel. Everything was delicious & our only complaints: too many amazing dishes to choose from & not enough time on our trip to squeeze in a second visit! The duck salad was the star of the meal. But the dip with the bread was lovely & our entrees: Catalonian parillada style meats mixed grill & the featured grilled calamari was excellent. We hope to one day to try the paella, Spanish style fish & seafood parrillada, & so many other dishes!

### Restaurant Review: Restaurant Les Pyrénées, Old Montreal Celebrating our four-month journey living in Montreal, my wife & I were delighted to discover Restaurant Les Pyrénées, thanks to our family friends who have resided in Old Montreal for several years. This hidden gem offered a memorable dining experience, reflecting both the rich culinary heritage of the region & the vibrant atmosphere of Old Montreal. **Ambiance & Service:** Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, Restaurant Les Pyrénées exudes a warm & inviting ambiance. The rustic decor, combined with a cozy, intimate setting, creates the perfect backdrop for a special celebration. The staff were attentive & knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with ease & ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. **Appetizer & Wine:** We started our meal with a classic appetizer of dip & bread, perfectly paired with a bottle of Bodegas Aroa Le Naturel Navarra wine. The dip was creamy & flavorful, & the bread was fresh & warm, setting a high standard for the dishes to follow. The wine, with its rich & robust flavors, complemented the appetizer beautifully. **Main Courses:** For our main course, we indulged in two exquisite dishes: 1. **Twelve Hours Braised Lamb:** The lamb, slow-cooked to perfection, was incredibly tender & flavorful. Accompanied by spinach with roasted almonds & a delicate thyme sauce, each bite was a harmonious blend of textures & tastes. The roasted almonds added a delightful crunch, & the thyme sauce elevated the dish to new heights. 2. **Rotinis with Chicken & Chorizo:** This dish was a vibrant medley of flavors & colors. The rotinis were cooked al dente, & the combination of chicken, chorizo, crunchy vegetables, olives, & sun-dried tomatoes created a symphony of tastes that was both hearty & satisfying. The chorizo added a spicy kick, while the sun-dried tomatoes provided a tangy sweetness that balanced the dish perfectly. **Dessert:** To conclude our meal, we opted for the Crème Caramel. This classic dessert was the ideal ending to our dining experience, with its smooth, creamy texture & rich caramel flavor. It paired wonderfully with the remaining sips of our wine, creating a delightful finish to our evening. **Conclusion:** Restaurant Les Pyrénées offered us an unforgettable dining experience, celebrating both our time in Montreal & the rich culinary traditions of the region. The combination of exceptional food, attentive service, & a charming ambiance makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone in Old Montreal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a delightful meal, Restaurant Les Pyrénées is sure to impress.

Overpriced & underwhelming tourist trap. We went during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. Actually, we were shocked we were able to find a table for a large group, but after eating there it became clear. The food was mediocre at best & shamelessly overpriced. The paella was dry, underseasonned & had mostly mussels, a few tiny clams & three shrimp, not any chorizo to speak of. The grilled squid was boiled & absolutely had no flavor. The onion soup was too sweet & unbalanced in flavor. The fried trio platter, tasted of rancid oil & was a bit burned & heavily coated with oil. A couple of meat dishes were dry but edible. Service was good but not outstanding. Not a place I would return to or recommend. We left wondering where all the five star reviews came from.

A very enjoyable evening. A good selection of Spanish wines & excellent Spanish inspired dishes. Patient, attentive, friendly service from the waiter, Kevin from Angers. Definitely an address to revisit.

The service was very good, but the food was disappointing. We ordered the fish soup, goat cheese salad, & Catalonian anchovies to start. The salad was good, but the anchovies & soup were just okay. For the mains, we had the beef tartare & plancha calamari which were on special. We were disappointed with our choices, as the calamari dish was not seasoned & the calamari was a bit chewy, but the rice was pretty good. The beef tartare also disappointed us as the beef was chewy & the potato crisps were stale. Overall while it is a nice restaurant & the staff was amazing, we were disappointed with the execution & quality control of the dishes we ate in comparison to the amount we paid ($240 for the meal & a bottle of wine + taxes & tip).
