Review Summary

Reviews describe Les Moulins La Fayette as a charming French boulangerie feel with a warm and inviting atmosphere, a display of delicate viennoiseries, flaky croissants, glazed tarts and quiches, and an overall sense of high quality cafe fare in downtown Calgary. The croissants are repeatedly praised for crisp buttery layers and melt in the mouth interior, the cappuccino is often described as rich and well prepared, and the coffee and desserts are noted as standout items with tiramisu ranked among the best. Desserts receive strong praise, including butterfly cookies and other sweets, while some items are hit or miss and coffee quality can vary, with a note to expect extra sugar for certain orders. The menu offers ready to go lunches and grab and go meals, making it suitable for breakfast or a quick midday bite, and the space is described as warm, airy, and pleasant despite limited seating, with a glass wall that lends an open feel. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, recommendations offered and orders handled efficiently, contributing to an elevated experience reminiscent of a Paris cafe in the city center. Overall impressions lean positive, with many calling it a Calgary gem and a reliable go to for authentic pastries, croissants, croque Monsieur and other cafe staples, while a few comments point to uneven coffee or bland notes on some visits yet the desserts and main pastry items remain a recurring highlight.

From the moment I stepped into Les Moulins La Fayette at The CORE, I was transported to a classic French boulangerie the aroma of freshly baked breads & pastries welcomed me instantly. The display was exquisite: delicate viennoiseries, flaky croissants, beautifully glazed tarts, & savory quiches looked like works of art.I ordered a cappuccino & a croissant, & both were exceptional. The croissant balanced crisp, buttery layers with a melt-in-your-mouth interior; the cappuccino was rich, smooth, & perfectly warmed. The café also offers prepared lunches & grab-&-go gourmet meals, making it ideal whether you're stopping in for breakfast or a quick midday bite.
The atmosphere is warm & inviting, with a cozy café feel right in the bustle of the mall. Even though seating is limited, the open design & glass wall make the space feel airy & connected.
The staff were pleasant & attentive, offering recommendations & handling orders with efficiency. The overall experience felt elevated like wandering into a small Paris café but right in the heart of Calgary. If you love authentic French pastries, high-quality café fare, & a charming ambiance in the downtown core, Les Moulins La Fayette at The CORE is a go-to for me. I'll absolutely be back it's one of Calgary's gems.

Well, I drove 40 minutes to eat here. Had to be one of the best chocolatines I've had even though it wasn't warmed up. Would I drive back for another one? Probably not. Chocolatine, a swiss ham croissant, a tea & a coffee for 30$? The Chai latte wasn't even a real Chai latte & the bag of tea was from David's Tea. You ever go to get a McDonald's fry & it's in A&W packaging? I paid 6$ for a tea bag from David's tea that was soaked in hot water. Oh & when you get there, there is a huge parking lot for the restaurant to the left of it. If you go to the right side parking lot you will be bombarded with very aggressive signs saying the parking is for Starbucks.
