Les Canailles is a lovely French bistro located in the new HOMA, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area, which is developing at a fast pace. This restaurant, where you can bring your own wine has put in place a popular new concept of open kitchen on the dining room. The super friendly service and the excellent French cuisine are much appreciated by the clientele. The menu is amazingly interesting and makes it difficult to choose. There is a great choice of fresh fishes and seafood. Recently opened by the same experienced and well-known team of the restaurants: Monsieur B, O Thym, Les Héritiers and L'Emporte-Pièce, this new restaurant has easily made its place in the area. The restless team offers continuous outstanding service by catering for everyone’s needs. Let yourself be charmed by this lovely place! Bring your friends, bring your family!

Super beau Apportez votre vin dans Hochelaga! La serveuse était très sympathique, la cuisine vraiment de-li-cieuse! On a pris des huîtres, le profiteroles de foie gras & les pétoncles e chorizo poelés! Rien à redire! Le steak de ma mère était cuit à la perfection (elle l'aime très bien cuit 😅), & le tartare de boeuf du chum de ma soeur était exquis!

Le seul bémol était le niveau sonore... Les gens parlaient vraiment forts, mais j'imagine que c'est ce que ça fait, les gens qui apportent leur(s) propre(s) bouteille (s) de vin...

Ive been going to this restaurant every 6 months for a couple of years now. I was there in October 2025 (my previous time was in Spring 2025), & the quality & taste of the food has dropped significantly. I am unsure if they changed chefs, but the Rockefeller Oysters & steak were below par for what I was used to at this restaurant. I was very disappointed that I was not getting the high level of dishes I've grown used to in this restaurant, but at least, despite the restaurant being full (thus why it was so noisy), the service remained very pleasant.

The food was so so. The linguine was good but very salty!!! The salmon tartare so so .. didnt like it much. The salmon wasn't diced, it was sort of sliced. The steak with fries was ok, dry but ok.

Absolutely lovely restaurant!
Food was super delicious. Oysters & mussels were amazing & full. I had the steak/fries with pepper sauce. Meat was super tender, great sauce. Fries delicious, served with mayo. My friend ordered the mussels, so plumped in a white wine sauce. Other friend had scallops & chorizo, delicious as well.
It is bring your own wine. We also took as an appetizer the tempura asparagus in a red tomato sauce, super delicious.
Service is impeccable, professional, fast, extremely friendly & not snob. Prices are very friendly.
They have a terrasse but was still too cold. Will be back without hesitation! Love this gem!

Un endroit'over-price', foie gras décevant.. aucune présentation, goût limite fraie... rizoto crevette de qualité de cafétéria.. steak frite avait la cuisson saignante, je vais le donner, c'était le meilleur des trois. Dans l'ensemble les repas ne valaient vraiment pas le prix payer.
pvi : De plus, souvent le staff laisse la porte ouverte & sa sent le cannabis fraichement fumé !

The tartare was expertly seasoned & the salad was fresh with a delightful dressing. Service was top-notch, with attentive & friendly staff. However, the restaurant can get quite loud. Belle adresse dans l ensemble oscillant entre belles découvertes & déceptions. Commençons par ce qui nous a plu: le tartare de boeuf est délicieux & parfaitement assaisonné; le steak frites très bon egalement; les carbonaras delicieuses; la crème brûlée au chocolat très bonne & surprenante. Déceptions cependant pour le foie gras qui ressemble davantage à une mousse au foie gras & au magret de canard de par sa quantité. Nous n avons pas eu droit à un magret mais à un tiers de magret coupé dans sa longueur. Le service est parfait, sympathique & compétent. La salle nous a fait pensé à un bouchon lyonnais, très convivial.

Je suis allée le 17 novembre dernier & j'ai commandé les boules de riz, le steak & la crème brulée: l'entrée était ok, le steak était très coriace avec beaucoup de gras & très dur, j'en ai mangé que 2 ou 3 bouchées, il y avait plus de papier que de frites & la crème brulée était très liquide. Pour le prix c'est quasiment du vol. Je ne recommanderai pas le restaurant.

Deception hier pourtant usuellement c'est parfait ! Mais le gout etait pas la, le steak servi dans une assiette ultra froide ! Donc bouffe froide ! Nous n'avons pas ete servi tous en meme temps de l'entree jusqu'au dessert. Decu de ce que j'ai eu pour le prix payer !

BYOB, sat outside on lovely terrasse. Server was pleasant. Website shows $1 Oysters every Sunday. Surprised that this wasn't available anymore as it still appears on the site. Food was decent, nothing more. Tuna tataki was tiny, tasteless & bland. Salmon tartare was the same. Steak was over cooked & dry. We were given spicy sauce to give the food some flavour. Lovely evening as a whole but unfortunately forgettable food.

Nourriture excellente, mais les prix sont trop élevés: Steak & frites à 60,00$ (houlala), Soupe froide à 20,00$. OUI c'est vrai que les panier d'épiceire ont beaucoup augmentés autant pour les consommateurs que pour les restaurateurs..... ,mais il faudrait pensé à mettre quelques plats un peu moins cher.

Le restaurant est joli & sympatique, mais l'odeur de renfermé en arrivant dans le restaurant est désagréable au début.

Wonderful dinner at Canailles. The table d'hôte was well worth it, even for the price. Truly recommend. They had great specials: amazing seafood platter as an appetizer, a good steak as the main course & a great parfait for dinner. Was there when a big group of people was there. So could get rowdy/noisy because BYOWine. Would definitely come back.

Seule critique, demande pas la demande pas la cuisson du steak, pas de couteau & steak & 1 ou 2 croutons de plus avec le tartare serait apprécié.

En ce qui me concerne, mon steak de Hambourg façon Canailles était OK, sans plus. Il faut que je me souvienne, pour la prochaine fois, que je ne trippe pas tant sur le foie gras. Je ne comprend pas cette mode du foie gras qu'on peut commander en extra sur à peu près n'importe quoi. Pourquoi pas sur la crème glacée tant qu'à y être.

En revanche, ma douce moitié a pris le poisson (bar sauvage), à l'instar, étrangement, de 5 des 8 convives que nous étions à la table. Le jugement était assez unanime, très bon. Ça m'apprendra à fuir les trucs santé ... & paraît-il que de tartare de saumon (en entrée) était "presque" aussi bon que le mien...

Attention, ambiance bistro très bruyante.

Pas très cher. 2 personnes, menu de groupe 3 services, café = 115$ taxes & pourboire inclus. + le vin qu'on apporte.
