dessert(28) recommend(27) chef(26) vin(25) tartare(21) decor(20) prix(19) bar(19) highly recommend(17) ingredient(16) detail(16) cocktail(16)I recently dined at Le Violon & was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. The chef's exquisite dishes showcased a perfect blend of flavors, making every bite memorable. The staff were attentive & warm, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. The location was perfect, offering a stunning Montreal aesthetic that complemented the delightful decor. It was an unforgettable evening, deserving of all five stars!
Really like a 4.5/5. Food was mostly very good but a couple dishes weren't quite there for us to make it a 5 star. Service was amazing! Try & grab a seat at the far end of the bar for a great look into the kitchen & chef Danny at work.
Extraordinary dining experience. Elegant yet casual atmosphere with great attention to detail. Unique menu derived from many locally sourced foods, beautifully presented. From the apps through to the desserts, it was an astronomic delight.
This is the restaurant you don't want to share (because you still want to get a reservation) but also can't help but share because it is fantastic. The starters are incredible, the tomatoes & albacore tuna were unforgettable as were the mussels on stout bread. As for the mains, the pork in jus & pesto gnocchi were incredible & instantly crave-able. The desserts truly keep the momentum going (a rarity in most places). We opted for the pistachio & rose soft serve ice cream & basque chocolate cake with English cream. Good to the last decadent bite. Run don't walk to Le Violon, but also please leave us at least a two top because we can't wait to go back. P.S. Shout out to Jenna for her exceptional service. This team truly cares about the experience they are curating. Here's to many years of beautiful food music at Le Violon !
Honestly it was just fine? The portions are tiny for the price. Just go to vin mon lapin instead.
NY fine dining in Montreal. Charming, bright, fresh, friendly atmosphere. Food is superb. Many unique combinations, spices, etc. Chef Danny Smiles on prem, active in preparation. I can recommend.
Magnifique petit resto au coeur du Plateau. Cuisine fraîche & inventive. Service impeccable.
Excellent food & specifically the service was top notch. The chef himself came out to reassure that allergies are taken very seriously which was really appreciated. Overall great time & excited to come back!
A typical Danny Smiles experience. Welcoming ambiance without a presumptious atmosphere, given the fine dining culinary treat. Meticulous food combinations with a good variety & various food flavour pairings. Compliments to the pastry chef for unique & exceptional dessert selections.
Awesome new restaurant in Montreal. We tried it within the first few weeks of opening, & everything was impeccable. The decor & vibe really set the mood for the culinary experience to come. Fresh, meticulously prepared ingredients with great flavours. On the pricier end of the spectrum, but don't let that stop you from trying it!
Chill vibe. Food was delicious. Restaurant is small & intimate & nice style.
We tried the oysters, beef tartare, gnocchi & monkfish. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful & the bathrooms are clean. Also the service was amazing. We even got the best seats in the house & got to watch Danny Smiles in the kitchen! Will definitely be coming back to this place again.
I had a fantastic time at Le Violon! The food was not only top-notch in quality but also incredibly comforting. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind & enjoy a delicious meal. I can't wait to visit again!
Le Violon is a neighborhood restaurant located in Plateau Mont-Royal that is refined & elegant. This fine dining establishment focuses mainly on seafood, pasta, meats & vegetables all locally sourced in Quebec. Although the food we had was on point the portions were small making it hard to share amongst 4 people. The sweetbreads at $40 were delicious but with such a small portion made it hard to share along with charging $7 for bread & not giving one piece to each of us. The service was friendly but sporadic at times as our drinks took sometime to come & being offered a second drink took also a lot longer than expected. Overall I would go back once there's a menu change & I'm sure by that time they will have ironed out any issues that can occur within the opening weeks.
