From start to finish, this was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. The decor was beautiful (colour scheme, art on the walks, cutlery, plates, glasses, etc.), food was amazing & service was impeccable. Highly recommend the cocktails, bread & butter, sweetbreads, green salad & pork dish. You be blown away!
We got the oysters, raw beef, bread & butter, pasta & black bass! EVERYTHING WAS TO DIE FOR! The soft serve ice cream & black forest cake was the cherry on top (literally), & the perfect ending to the meal! 10/10, need to come back to try everything else on the menu!
We absolutely loved it. The vibe (elegant Montreal neighbourhood restaurant at its best), the people (Dillan was genuinely friendly & on top of it) & of course the food (uniquely prepared sweetbreads were memorable). Unfortunately Danny wasn't there ('nice to he hear he has a life!) but we did meet his sympathetic partners Andrew & Dan Climan. We had a wonderful evening.
Ate really well. Everything was top quality. Maybe the chocolate cake at the end was the least good dish, but otherwise everything else was fantastic. Wine was great as well. Old fashioned is good.
One of Montreal's newer restaurants, featuring locally sourced ingredients. It took over the space from Maison Publique, one of our perennial neighbourhood favourites (Yo Yo's before that, which was also a fav). Total bill was $270 for two with a $70 bottle of wine, &, in my opinion, not a lot of value for the money. $7 for two pieces of ciabatta bread. Portions are very small. My partner had sweetbreads ($40) which were very tasty but miniscule. I had the pork shoulder which again was tasty, but tough, & served with one(!) piece of Swiss chard, & a couple of star-shaped veggies with cheese. We never order dessert but were still hungry at the end so had the chocolate dessert with creme fraiche, which we both enjoyed. Atmosphere is great, as is the service
Nice decor, good vibe, friendly service. I'd go back on a date but not with a group. Portions are too small for the price, $400 of food left our group of four still hungry. It's made worse by serving the small bits of food on large plates, which really just emphasizes the fact that you just spent $40 on 3 bites of sweetbreads. Bread costs extra too (but the delicious house/anchovy butter makes it sort of worth it) Even the drinks are small! One more suggestion - if you're recommending that your guests order to share plates, consistency with the number of "things" a dish comes with is important. It's frustrating to have to split 3 slices of protein between 4 people for one thing, & have the even 4 for another.
Delicious food & really great service. We were really impressed, would 100% recommend.
Superbe restaurant, great staff & service.
Service impeccable. Accueil chaleureux & sympathique. Cocktails impeccables. Plats exquis & vin délicieux.
Nice restaurant! In particular I like their monkfish with mushroom & corn. That was a bit sweet but not dominating the flavor of the fish. Love that dish.
I recently dined at Le Violon & was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. The chef's exquisite dishes showcased a perfect blend of flavors, making every bite memorable. The staff were attentive & warm, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. The location was perfect, offering a stunning Montreal aesthetic that complemented the delightful decor. It was an unforgettable evening, deserving of all five stars!
Really like a 4.5/5. Food was mostly very good but a couple dishes weren't quite there for us to make it a 5 star. Service was amazing! Try & grab a seat at the far end of the bar for a great look into the kitchen & chef Danny at work.
