About

Le Tiboeuf offers a focused menu centered on the vibrant and bold traditions of Creole cooking combined with specialized open-flame grilling techniques. Patrons encounter a variety of marinated proteins that emphasize authentic spice blends and deep, smoky profiles characteristic of traditional island preparations. The kitchen prioritizes precise heat management to ensure the textures of the meat remain tender while achieving a distinctive charred exterior. A selection of house-made condiments and traditional vegetable sides rounds out the culinary offerings to complement the primary meat dishes. The interior environment emphasizes a utilitarian aesthetic that keeps the focus entirely on the preparation of the food. Every plate reflects a commitment to the fundamental techniques of flame-seared proteins and traditional seasoning methods without unnecessary ornamentation or extraneous ingredients that distract from the core flavor profile.

Review Summary

Le Tiboeuf is frequently described as a hidden gem offering authentic and flavorful Haitian cuisine, with many diners praising the moist and tender griot, the aromatic rice, and the overall quality of the meals. While the food is widely celebrated for its freshness and taste, experiences are occasionally mixed regarding portion sizes, specific recipe consistency, and the spiciness of the pikliz. Some visitors have noted concerns regarding the value for money, particularly with certain meat dishes, and there are occasional reports of underwhelming service or atmosphere. Despite these variations, the restaurant remains a popular choice for many, especially for those seeking a convenient and satisfying takeaway option near the university.

White boy walks in, orders Djon Djon rice & chicken meal. HUGE portion, freshly cooked, high quality food. Was extremely surprised by how spicy & well seasoned the coleslaw was. Want to go back already.

Absolutely delicious food! The fritay poulet was incredible, especially the dipping sauce. The griot was fork tender yet crispy & tasted phenomenal; my friend who has never liked pork tried it & said she likes pork now. & possibly the star of the show is the djon djon rice, utterly unique flavor! So good that we decided to immediately come back the next day for more! Definitely do not miss out on this hidden gem!

The food had no flavor except for the meat ,the rice was not fully cooked & the fritay portion was way too small for the price. Very disappointing experience.'

Very tasty & fresh! I had the LE TI COCHON (GRIOT). The Griot was not dry, but very moist & I could pull it apart with a spoon. 🤪 The rice. & salad were fresh & the sauce was flavourful. The pikliz was disappointing! It smelled good & had flavour , BUT where was the spice? You need more scotch bonnets in the batch of pikliz you made today!! 🙁I will go back!! The plantains were fresh, could have been a bit crispier for my taste. still very good. The (plantains)were not dried out or soft. As others have said it's a bit of a hidden gem. I stopped by for lunch, everything was super fresh! Next time you think of going to Lulu's Pasta Bar, try something different & have some Haitian food just down the street.

I ordered the Ti Boeuf & Ti Cochon, & both were delicious! The meat was super flavorful, tender, & perfectly seasoned. They each came with rice & banann peze, which completed the meal.
You can really taste the love & authenticity in the food. Portions were generous, I'll be ordering again! Highly recommend!💯

One of the few Haitian/Caribbean spots downtown. Spot might be easy to miss but I consider to be a hidden gem. I got the Griot. Everything was made to order. The pork was crispy & juicy. The pasta salad was delicious & creamy. The plantains were fresh & well fried. My only gripe is that if you order the large they will just give you more rice.

Wasn't sure if I wanted to go, because of the restaurant's name (iykyk), but being downtown, lazy & craving H good, I went anyway. Warm & fast service. Generous servings at an okay price. Probably the BEST griot I have ever had (& I've tried dozens of restaurants in North America). Marinated perfectly, the meat was oh-so tender & tasty, with lots of fatty bits (my favorite, that's how you know if the meat is fresh). Everything was made'maison' clearly. HOWEVER I thought the macaroni salad had no taste whatsoever, the sauce was a bit bland, the pikliz only tasted of vinegar & was not'piké' at all... & the rice... they used broken rice! Made the texture feel really off after my 30+ years of having long grains only! 5 star griot & service Will have to try their other offers before I form my full opinion

The Griot was sexy. I eat this once in a while so when it's delicious, it's a win. The mac salad was yummy, fresh & creamy. The rice was hot & average in taste. The plantain was a little dry( not a deal breaker), The Pikliz was good but the red sauce was bland & oily. I added a little salt & it was tasty.
